Betty, so glad you still had a good time, even though your Mom was not up to par. Bless her heart, I hope she is doing OK? Make sure she keeps that gash clean!
Love the turtle! He is so cute!
Tubby, glad to hear your doing fine! Also glad to hear you had no tornado! There was a lot of damage in Mississippi!
Good night everyone!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Good morning all. Betty sounds like you had a busy eventful weekend. I sure hope Mom keeps that gash clean. It could turn really nasty very quickly. I love the stork in your garden. He has so much personality. You sounded so happy to see Debbie again. I'm happy for YOU.. Sure am glad the border patrol let you back in to Canada!!! I wouldn't have dared to go through in the first place without my own passport. Big chicken here...
Tubby - glad to hear you had no tornados but I'm so sorry for those that did. What a nightmare.
Crissy your flowers will bounce back just fine. I'm sorry you had the damage.
Judy = Can't wait to see some pictures but know what it is like trying to get back into the routine of things. Gives me something else to look forward to seeing.
Waving to all - off to start the laundry. Have a great day.
Barb, he's a blue heron that I cut and painted, will take a closer photo so you can see him....
LOL I wouldn't have heard the end of it had I turned around..might have been better for her though..
Barb, I'm excited to use my star accu-quilt die for a project for a swap that I know is coming up shortly...was too tired to try it last night..
How's your sewing schedule going? you'll have to take photo's off all you've done to date..maybe we'll be asking you to take orders in color of choice
Morning everyone!
Betty I'm so sorry about your mom's issues and injuries! That had to have hurt, she should have went to the hospital via ambulance and a report filled out immediately, it is the hotel's responsibility to get these for you, and the housekeeper who did that room the last time it was slept in should be fired. I wouldn't stay there ever again, and pass on to everyone which hotel it is so we don't either LOL!
I cut a few flowers to bring to work, but I don't have room on my desk, so their on my kitchen table in a vase :)
Well I'm going to get to work here, we have a staff meeting in 20 minutes.
Crissy, did the bad weather come near you? know how frightened you are of storms...hope not...Mary, please check in, you are down in that corner of the world aren't you?
Just catching up on Friday's messages and workload, almost done then I can play...
Debbie, know you cannot confirm for sure if you could come July 23rd for a stay but if right now if you don't see a problem could you let me know and I'll tentatively book that week off...
Here is a site to tempt you..lol
http://www.collingwoodelvisfestival.com/schedule.html
Judy can't wait to see your photo's..bet it's taking some time to get back into a routine? now you'll be looking forward to the cottage....
Betty I will definately have to talk to Paul about that week. Unfortuantely my birthday falls that area....and need to make sure they don't have plans. I highly doubt they do.
How is Moms leg? Poor woman, felt so bad for her as it looked so sore. She showed it too me one of the times we were looking for you.
I ended up getting one of the planters/solar lanterns that were rought iron....out front for my MIL for her birthday. I don't really want to give it up now! LOL
AND, guess what, we took Carries MIL to Cracker Barrell for lunch, she had never been before!
We do not need to do Elvis...just a few days visit would be fine with me!
Debbie
WOW-sounds like you had an eventful weekend!!! LOVE the turtle!! I would've thrown a FIT about the whole accident thing with your mom. You were very nice and civil comparably. In any business they have a SEVERE liability to take care of injured guests no matter whose fault it is. If it happens on their property they are liable and I can NOT believe how sloppily they handled it. And especially for an elderly guest. SHAME on them....they also handled the situation with you refusing an ambulance incorrectly. Because you choose not to seek emergency attention does NOT negate their responsibility for the injury. That man was trying to pull some serious BS!! Oh-if I was there......his hair would have been standing on end from the sparks I would be putting off and you would have seen smoke coming out of my ears. In my last job I handled the work place and work comp injuries, so I know that man was full of pig poo!!
OK-I think I am OK now....tee hee hee-sorry;)
Trying to think which solar piece you might have purchased Debbie??? Drats, I did the same, bought that copper/stained glass piece to hang ivy for Darlene and now I want to keep it..lol..well not really keep it, you see, I want to make some for gifts and am sure as Darlene enjoys doing stainedglass she'd love to make some as well soooo must make a decision, worse that could happen is I have to purchase another Christmas gift...
As for Elvis, I don't go to the big shows, there is so much going on that doesn't have a $$$ entry, just nice to enjoy and of course, right on Georgian Bay...you can see I'm just trying to temp you....
Mom was going to the Dr.'s..already had an appt. for this morning to talk to him re knee surgery so I'm sure he'll check her out..she's not called yet hmmmmm
Glad you were able to eat at Cracker Barrel..same one we go to or is there another?
Stacey you are too cute...how are you feeling sweetie, starting to get reprieve from the morning sickness...have you been over to Janice's lately..bet she's all organized...omg Stacey, everywhere I went that had baby things I was looking and checking out what treasures they had...
Linda Kay, what are you up to today..can dad get out and enjoy the weather...
Barb, forgot to tell you about the water bottle holder strap I bought for $4.00, perfect little craft item..you've probably seen them, easy/easy to make..if you haven't maybe you could add a few in your craft sale..
Taking Paul to lunch so off we go..
Hey Betty, dad can get out in his electric scooter. He loves to sit and watch the birds, and squirell. We go through so much bird food, but it makes him happy!
Hello Stacey! How ya doing?
Betty, they shouldn't have let you pay for the time you stayed there! That incident could have cost them Thousands of $!
I am feeling OK-DH just went to Wendy's for me, so after a burger, fries and a frosty I am feeling OK. I am not over the sickness. Sometimes I don't even have to eat. Yesterday am as soon as I peed, I had to turn and stick my head in the toilet....
Betty-I know what you mean-baby stuff is just too darn cute. I haven't been over to mom's lately, and she is in St. Louis this week. I need to go over for a couple days so we can go to this place called the Door Mouse. It is a barn that is filled with fabric. 2 bolts high standing up and 3 bolts deep on the lower shelf. I got the prettiest Batik there last time we went. We need to look for baby fabric for a quilt. Also, last year she made me some dresses out of this material Joann's had that was stretchy on top. Made for fabulous summer clothes and we both think it will be good for maternity clothes, so we thought we would get some more and make some dresses and tops for me. All sleeveless and very cool to wear.
Betty-My mom is sending a pattern for a baby sling (since she crochets not sews) that someone sent her. If Mom can't do it, can I send it to you and see if you can finagle it. I really want them and they are REALLY expensive to guy (like $40). I would send $$ for the fabric and such.....shouldn't be too expensive to make....
Just send me the pattern Stacey, am sure I or one of my friends can figure it out...maternity wear is expensive, lucky you have Janice to make you some clothing, who knows, she might even teach you how to sew a few...glad nausea isn't as overwhelming...won't be long and you'll see that little one and it will all be worth it...
meant to say earlier, if any of you want stars 2" or 3" or 4" I'd gladly run them through the accuquilt for you..I can put them on fixative backing and all you'd have to do is iron them on a project..hard to cut accurately so I could save you all time...
We all enjoyed Paul's birthday luncheon, chinese food, lordy, ate too much...
Thanks Betty-I am hoping that Mom can figure it out-shouldn't be too hard and since she is retired and all I am sure she has extra time. Just trying to cover my bases here;)
Betty, bad news....that week isn't looking good at all. It appears Paul took it off from work...entire week vacation. So he must be up to something. And...I am NOT bringing him up there with me! LOL Will see what I can find out.
I will try and put the yard thingy together and take a picture before I give it to the MIL. It is the big rought iron loop....lantern is solar powered hangs in the middle....has butterfly and hummer up top stamped and welded on. Entire thing is maybe 2 1/2 to 3 ft. tops.
Stacey, with all four of my pregnancies....every one being somewhat different...the only ones I had morning sickness with was the girls. LOL The doctor told me our hormones were battling it out already!
Not a problem Debbie, we can work something out...just wanted to spend time with you..we've plenty of long weekends that you could drive up as well...maybe I can squeeze in an extra day off...lol...
For the life of me can't remember that vendor...
Betty it was outside....right where you went in the front doors. All kinds of shepard hooks and such and planters, all black iron.
Didn't see it, I parked the van in the back 40 and had dropped mom off at the front to save her steps so most likely saw her waiting and went right inside..drats, bet I'd have loved one...
Speaking of sheppards hook Kyle made me at his shop class a beautiful one with a pot holder and welcome sign..put it somewhere for the winter best I go looking for it and put it outside before he thinks I don't like it...
Off to check where my hiding place is....
Betty, how is the outhouse coming along?
LindaKay, this weekend project IF it doesn't rain..3 weeks ago it rained all weekend, the weekend before last, high winds and below 0 temps, past weekend Buffalo.. if I don't get it done then Mother's Day weekend for sure...boys always come spend the weekend to work on my 'to do' projects!
Kyle just dropped off his poster and sheets for the cancer run he's organizing so I best make some calls and get sponsors...showed me his fingers..looks almost as good as new...
Tired tonight..just finished 40 blocks on Greg's rag quilt now I'm off for bath and early night...
Linda Kay, does your dad keep a log of which birds he sees?
No, he does not keep a log, but that would be nice to do for him, just never though of it! Thanks.
How is Paul's shingles doing? Hope they are getting better.
Get some sleep Betty, and we will talk tomorrow!
LindaKay, he's very uncomfortable, seems it moves around..he has Dr.'s appt. today...worried that it is contagious so has questions/questions for the physician...
Called mom last night, her Dr. is booking an appt. with a specialist to has her knee/knees done..probably won't happen for a few months due to process. She said the Dr. said her leg looked nasty and gave her a prescription and another shot of cortizone, let's hope it puts her on the mend..
She has my SIL de-cluttering her basement today so that will entertain her..said she's bring what was good to me so I can bring to the woman's shelter, at same time I'll give her the Almond Tree which is in full bloom..her mother's day gift but likely I'll not see her then and this way she can plant it at the cottage...
Had a nice spring outfit on, opened the door to let Sailor out, yikes it's cold so came in and changed..
Lordy it was 8:30 and my neighbor was still working on her greenhouse..looks as though she made it about 3' x 7'high..all of a sudden I remembered starting some seeds, they are growing to beat the dickens, have to find soil now to transplant..maybe tonight..
Off to have breakfast..have my craft bag filled with projects..some rag quilt squares and some afghan squares to put together..Paul is dropping into the office for an hour so it will be a quiet craft day..

Betty, please read this. It is contagious.
Are you contagious?
A person with shingles can pass the varicella-zoster virus to anyone who hasn't had chickenpox. This usually occurs through direct contact with the open sores of the shingles rash. Once infected, the person will develop chickenpox, however, not shingles.
Chickenpox can be dangerous for some groups of people. Until your shingles blisters scab over, you are contagious and should avoid physical contact with:
Anyone who has a weak immune system
Newborns
Pregnant women
Thanks Linda Kay, am sure I've had chickenpox but Suzanne hasn't...
Going to look for a bird tracking journal, think I saw one at Garden Gallery, if I can find, will sent it to 'dad'
Betty, you don't have to do that. But I knowing you, you will anyway. LOL!
Thanks so much, he will like that!
Good Morning Betty, and Everyone.
Wow, Betty I was so sorry to hear of your mom's injury. My goodness, have to add how angry I was to hear of the hotels nonchalant attitude over it...So glad that the doc gave mom a cortizone shot, hopefully it heals mighty quick...Oh, gosh on the Paul having the Shingles! Yikes, sure hope that it isn't a horrific case.
But, I am so very happy you and mom made the best of your weekend trip. Thinking how cool it is you and Debbie linked up! And you both found some treasures too, Grande smiles for you both! LOL, that means BIG!
ROFLOL, can't wait to share photos' almost ready, BUT, I must share this quick little story. Everywhere we went, i was reminded of my friends all over DG, weather it was a photo, embroidery in the window or Beautiful Towel Art. Wink, wink...On the Ship, we were gifted every other day with some beautiful especially folded towels to shape an animal, a heart etc...So Steve, asked if I was going to share my own version of Towel art, lolol, I just laughed and asked if I should, heheh...The last night of the cruise I decided why not...So folded my towel in such a way to make it stand complete with the uhhh base, we left it on the night table with the tip envelope placed on it...(of course I had to add a note, hoping it wouldn't offend.) Well I did not take a photo of my towel but here is the note We found on the bed when we returned!
Be back in a bit, got some running around to do.
Judy, can I guess that it was the towel that we folded neatly on our visit..lol..omg can't wait for your stories, just know even though the volvano/ash thing happened you'd have enjoyed the extra days although stressful..funny isn't it, I do same...something somewhere each and every day reminds me of one of you...it can be as large as a work of art or a simple flower that I know you have..guess that's why we're all friends right?
Were the children all home when you arrived, did they have a greeting committee? How goes the garden???
Betty - I hope your mom is better - nasty gouge on her leg, indeed!
Susan, how are things going with you??? with shrubs/flowers coming out that should encourage possible buyers...
Bev, how are you doing sweetie, have you been to see Scotty or are you giving him time to mellow?
Tubby, have to go find a joke of the day and post for you...hope it's a sunshine day in your neck of the woods.. as Judy would say, hope you are kissed by sunshine...did I get it right Judy?
G'morning, Betty - We have nibbles, but they only want to "rent-to-own", or "vendor finance". One wanted to put 50% down, and pay the rest in installments. We need the whole amount to put down for our own d/p, so can't accept that.
Sure is.
Tubby
Dangerous ground isn't it Susan to consider rent to own? Not that you are considering it..I have a neighbor across the street that entered into an arrangement like that, see that they are moving out at end of May, what a disaster that is, house will need thousands to bring it back to par..but then Michelle, friend of mine that lives up the street went into same agreement, lordy you should see what she's done to the house, think mid summer final agreement will be reached and it will be hers...guess you just have to check the individual out..sure hope it sells...
Afternoon Tubby! Are you finally get warm weather?
just got back from lunch, lordy it's cold out there..we had wanted to walk along the waterfront but just too windy so opted for a coffee shop that faced the lake...
You know me pretty well LindaKay..lol...just thought your dad would enjoy getting a pkg. from Canada...
That would tickle him pink!
Scotty will never mellow Betty. Doc came down here to see him and Scotty showed him he can walk now and I have to somehow get a ramp and a lift chair cause he will be coming home in another week maybe. He is throwing such fits. I don't know if I have the strengh left to take care of him but will try. BEV
Hi Everyone!
Thought I would let you all know that I got called home today, Tubby was running a high fever and nonresponsive. I called the Squad and they took him to the ER. We ended up transfering him back down to the Med Center. His blood pressure was low and they couldn't get it up and his temp was 103 by that time. They started to get him settled into a room on 6th floor where we were last time, but decided he needed a special heart drug and had to be watched closely, so they moved him to ICU. I just got home a little while ago. Will head back down in AM. They know he has an infection but don't know where it is coming from. I will keep you up to date when I find out more.
I want you to know how much he enjoys reading all the talk. He has started some seeds, I am tryin get the flower beds cleaned up and still have to work on the garden area. I take him outside with me on good days. I know he wants to do more, but we'll get there eventually. He loves to be outside. We have alot of laughs somedays when things don't always go according to plan.
You all take care and hope everyone is doing okay! We think and talk of you all often.
Shirley / Tubby
Shirley, thank you sweetie for taking the time in such circumstances, am sure you are overwhelmed and tired, but we all worry about him and the few words he types to us bring warmth to our hearts...our prayers are with you both..give him hugs for us will you...will wait patiently for your next update...
Bev, am sure you know best but lordy, don't you go put yourself in a position that you will have to be hospitalized...you'll not be any company or help to Scotty if you don't first look after yourself..now do the Doctors' think he'd be better at home or is it Scotty asking to be released???
Sending heavy prayers for Tubby and for Bev and Scotty. I'm praying so hard for good solutions. Praying they find the infection and can treat it quickly for Tubby. And Bev you do need to watch out for yourself. It's so hard but what about home healthcare? Can they help with Scotty? My prayers will continue on....
