Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...

I M OK so far-took a pill and had some cereal. I have to work from 12-5 today and then stop off for milk on my way home....

Yesterday I did go to some 2nd hand baby stores and got 6 onesies (2 w/ feeties) a bib that says "Daddy's little monster" and a bouncy-the first things I have really bought and it felt good-I had fun until I started to feel sick....oh well...a little at a time

LindaKay, am proud, with so many kids going the wrong way I thank the Lord so far I've little angels..lol.. but then my sons keep them well occupied, i.e. 6 weeks in a kayak youth trip up in Algonquin Park, hockey school etc. so they have little time to get into mischief...Kyle said Greg & Mel had taken Noah last night for try-outs for Rep Hockey, lordy season just ended a few weeks ago, their hockey tournament dinner is next weekend and already try-outs...doesn't give them much time...

As for Paul, yes Dr. did confirm it was shingles and gave him meds...he worked in Suzanne's office yesterday so she's in there wiping everything down

Stacey, you must be coming to the end of morning sickness I hope...12-5 isn't a bad shift is it, gives you time to organize yourself in the a.m. and then you are home at a half decent hour to have an evening with hubby..

The girls were just arriving as I was leaving the house this a.m. for painting..Darlene's knees are much better since the operation but she has to rest so said she'd behave and sit while teaching..had to rush downstairs and move the stained glass piece, the floorcloth I was giving coats of finish to, the other table had to put away sewing..wow...forgot they were coming...

Bev, how is Scotty doing? Tubby you o.k.

Scotty kicked me out this morning when I told him for the hundredth time that I couldn't take care of him at home. He said he doesn't ever want to see me again. BEV

Bev, so sorry he is being that way. Have you talked to the Dr. about talking to him? Maybe if he hears it from the Dr. he will understand?

Oh Bev, isn't there a saying that 'you always hurt the one you love'..can't get mad at strangers so you are the next best thing...still, you must be so hurt...am sure as you keep visiting he'll settle in to his environment.. as LindaKay says, maybe the Doctor can make him understand just how hard it is..know it's hard to accept for you as well but you HAVE to look after you otherwise you'll be in the same place...hugs sweetie...

Just try to remember that he's sick, and take it with a grain of salt! Can you get nurses to come in and help with him? Ask your Dr. to help you with that.

That pic was from last November....and I'm even wondering how it ended up in the "november file"....but it possibly was from then....

I'm taking a more laid back approach to the yard this year... Like you said Betty - just 'wait & see" what pops up....

Well - I am packed and ready to chaperone the Band Trip to Panama City tomorrow.... I am going to work in the morning...and had a last minute 10a appt. with a client that I'm a bit nervous about...need to be back at the house for 11a ....the other Senior Mom that is driving is picking me up ...

I'll bring my work laptop....but not sure how much opportunity to check in with ya'll.... just don't think I've gone away !

Stopped off at Bernie's last night and he had a look at my vehicle..yikes, bearings on front passenger side wheel..called dealership it would be between $600-$700 to repair..Bernie and I drove to the auto part company in Hillsdale and ordered the bearing..$69.99..called Paul this morning and told him I'd have to use up more of my 'cleaning hours' today for car repair so only here until 2:00pm..parts department almost guaranteed that they will be here by 3:00 so Bernie will start taking my vehicle apart ready for when it arrives..my only concern is IF they don't arrive..oh/oh no car for tomorrow..guess maybe Bernie would lend me one of his..he's such a dear, not sure if it really is to help big sister or the fact that I mentioned he'd have to take mom across the border because she so wants to go..lol

Goodness Betty, sure hope they get the parts for you! Maybe you could rent a car, if you can't borrow one?

LindaKay...on the left is shows/movies etc. that have been on the system for awhile.when the black t.v. screen comes on you'll see you have to click on an icon to play...if it doesn't show this then I would go back and pick something else...

Just got a call..parts are in so guess it's clear sailing from here on in..let's hope it was the only problem...

Bernie did repairs to the car..got home, doors were locked..you know me I don't lock doors and don't even have a key..few minutes later Cathy came, she thought I had already gone and she had locked the door..imagine, my home, no key, about 4 or 5 others have keys..think it's time just incase someone locks the doors that I get myself one...

Good luck Susan. It must not be like it is here. Here it's a buyers market and most people end up taking less than they need on a house to get rid of it. The houses that don't negotiate sit for yrs on the market since the buyer can always find another one for probably cheaper...Good for you all that your market isn't as bad as ours...

I just want you all to know, I went to the Erie Fair Craft Show today....and guess who I got a BIG hug from? MIss Betty herself! We were looking for each other and she spotted me first.

She looks great! However, please keep her Mom in your prayers, she is having a hard time...and received a big gash on her leg. Betty has her hands full. She got some great things also.....that is for HER to share!

I have had a very long day, been up since 6:30. Things are going fair here....so thats good.

Mary, Oh I hope you are having an excellent trip with the Band.

Since we've been back, Life has jumped right back in gear, not much time to visit just yet.
We both are still suffering jet lag and time differences.
Little by little we are getting things done. Today it is in my goal to download all the photos.
We did unload the Camcorder and copied 2sets of discs. We attempted to watch the first of 4 discs last night, however,
we were all disappointed that it came out rather sketchy, so will have to play with it, not sure if its the discs or the dvd player.

Since the weather has been cold and now rainy, I've been plugging away at getting the house back into order, not quite as bad as it appeared...So all the luggage has been emptied, laundry at least washed and folded...Listened to the stories the kids had, no big problems with the exception of a tree limb that came down. They called cuz to come and cut it up, and hauled it to back yard...Steve went shopping to stock up, lol...everything gone, The kids did their best to make dinners with lots of ground beef, but were estatic when dad made BBQ chicken! Friday was fairly decent so we collaborated and worked on the yard clean up...How nice to see foliage in my yard, an explosion of green, Daffs are almost done...yesterday, Steve spent the entire day on the computer dealing with business issues, so hopefully sometime today, I can visit a bit more, in the mean time I sure hope you are all well.

Had quite a weekend..

Started with the bearing going on my vehicle and having to have it repaired late Thursday night, thank goodness for brothers..Bernie did an excellent job and wouldn't charge me a penny, only thing I paid was for the part...

Friday morning I was off just before 5 a.m. got to mom's and at the border by 8:20a.m...asked mom to get her passport out so I could present mine and hers to the young man waiting in the booth, opened to the portrait page, OMG/OMG/OMG I kept saying, added a few oh no/oh no...here in March when I went with Rita we put our passport in our purses and you guessed it, I had Rita's...mom was in the passenger seat saying 'if we have to go back I'm not coming back'...thank goodness the young man said I didn't look like a terrorist nor a drug dealer so he let me through..yikes, close call...

Got to the room, was unpacking and getting ready for shopping weekend....you all know I really didn't think mom should go, with the injury to her left leg being so infected and then her knees giving her problems especially her right one and just getting cortizone shot on Thursday but she insisted...I carried everything into the room and she was going to put her suitcase away and I heard her screem..she lifted her slacks and wow blood pouring like crazy..I look and yuk what a gash..lifted the bedspread and guess the cleaner had pulled the bed out, finished what they were doing, pushed to matress to where it belonged but left the metal rail out about 6"..she ramed right into it, dug deep and lifted the skin...

Sorry everyone, should have warned you I was going to post a photo...anyway I went to the lobby asked the young gentleman for a medical kit, he came to the room, I helped him push the frame back in, said he'd be right back..never saw him again...

You can see the indent exactly in the shape of the metal rail can't you? I cleaned it, put meds on and gauze, did same next morning...she almost passed out while I was working on it..I wasn't far behind because I hate the sight of blood...

She was a trooper, wanted to shop..I was able to convince, well order her really to get in store wheelchair when available, she wasn't happy about that but she did it...it was slow moving so we came back to hotel room quite early..that was enough for her...she felt badly but I said I was just as tired..as we entered the day shift was still there, I mentioned the episode and it was simply an 'oh, that's not good'...mad me angry...

Next morning is was paining along with the other ailments, I wanted to come home but she wouldn't hear of it so off we went for breakfast and the craft show..she said she'd go ONLY if I'd not make her get into wheelchair..

I no sooner entered the building when who did I see, now I almost missed her because talk about gorgeous, when she said she lost weight she didn't tell us just how much..lordy did she make my day..if ever I've had a travelling partner that I enjoyed so much is was Debbie...poor girl, her daughter and daughter's MIL were with her, bet they didn't think I'd ever let Debbie go, kept hugging her...one day you just have to meet her, I'm not exaggerating am I Judy, Liz , Bev and Crissy..isn't she a dear! Talking about her coming over for a few days/week this summer, I'll take vacation then doesn't she come up with a grand idea...why not when the Elvis Convention is on...Lordy it will be a ball so I will tomorrow go on-line, find out when it is, book my vacation and count the days until she comes....

Debbie did encountered mom in the masses a few times and also tried to get her to sit and/or get a wheelchair but like some we know, she just wouldn't listen...

I did get ideas, did purchase some treasures and could have stayed longer but that wouldn't have been fair so off we went...stopped at Joann's and purchased another die for my accu-quilt..star die 2"3" and 4" know a project I want to do for a swap..excited about that...oooh did I forget to say Mom bought me a metal turtle for my outdoor garden collection..it's huge..got to leave it outside for a year or so so it will rust like the others...I'll have to go take a photo...got solar rock lights for around the pond, jewelery for Christmas presents, some tools for Bernie as a thank you for repairing my car...a nice copper and stained glass piece that hangs and has a glass so you can grow vines..I'll also take a photo of it..it's for Darlene for Christmas but I want to make some first..lol...got Paul's billiard ball clock for his birthday gift tomorrow...picked up a few things for Suzanne and on/and on and on...Cathy for looking after the furries I purchased a beautiful gold chain twisted and it looks as thought there are thousands of miniature diamonds within..she loved it..should have bought me one as well...all and all I was pleased with my purchases...

So back to the hotel and there was the young man who had been there the evening before, when I say young he might be 25 or so, with him behind the counter was I believe the night manager and in the laundry room was the housecleaner...guess I wasn't nice but I said to the young man, "I would just like to say your actions last night were not appropriate for someone being on duty, when someone gets injured or ill you must have guidelines to follow, not say you'll be back to never return and have me return the medical kit the next day...I would like some sort of form to fill out exactly what happened and have a copy for my files..." he doesn't say anything but the manager looks at me and wants to know what this is about..I invite him into the room after explaining, he calls the lady, they are of a different nationality and start gabbing amongst themselves, he lifts the bedskirt and tells me it could not have happened as I say...well, I'm usually calm, cool and collected but not at that moment..I told him to look at the photo, loot at the gauze that I took off her leg where you can see the exact shape of the rail, told him to go get the young attendant to explain how hard it was for us to put the frame back into position and against the wall...so now I guess he's willing to listen, wanted to call an ambulance, take mom to hospital..bit late..mom's saying 'no' he's saying then we'd have no recourse...she's saying that's ok, we don't want trouble, then God bless her (or not) she says "you will let us come back to this hotel won't you" this after saying he'd give us 1 night free accommodation' and so he should...shaking my head here....then for 1 hr. I get the mom thing, shouldn't have said anything....nope...might be more serious next time for someone else, it just might make them more responsible..soooo we drop that conversation..guess I was sleeping by 7...then, she's coming down with a cold, can't get warm, guess it's also shock, got the heat to 85 and she's still cold as can be..so even though I first fell asleep at 7 I woke up in a sweat about every 1/2 hr....

This morning we arrived at the border at 8:30 so no worrying about not making the 48 hr. mandatory stay in order to bring back $400 worth of merchandise..ok, so I might have said a little lie about how much I brought back...oh, at the border the middle age gentleman said, 'can I see your passports please' so I had to tell him I didn't have one, relay the story, he kind of eyed me up and asked for as much I.D. as I could muster that had a photo etc...sure was glad when he said 'enjoy your day!'..mom was glad to get home, she looked tired, was coming down with a cold so didn't hurt her feelings for me to unpack her belongings and head home...

When I arrived Cathy was doing dishes and her weekend laundry, she stayed for a few hours and off she went..so now it's time to relax, I got out all the left over squares for rag quilt that I'm doing for ex-DIL's little 2 year old..thought if I gave my grandchildren one he'd feel left out..have it sitting in design on the floor ready to pin..if I accomplish that much tonight I'll be pleased..want to head to bed shortly..this old gal is tired as well...

Yes Tubby, I felt bad for her, here she was so wanting to get away because she's been couped up because of another injury and pain in knees then to have this happen, well was disappointing to say the least...how are you doing sweetie???

Also wanted to say, hope those tornado's we were watching on t.v. didn't reach or affect any of you....said a prayer that they wouldn't...
