Coffee Break #37 - Best time of year!

Thomaston, CT

I take extra vitamin D ....helps to absorb calcium. Doesn't Starbuck's have warnings on the cups?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Vit D is great for so many reasons.

Milk drinker here. Never had a broken bone except my little toe. I should of had a broken back by rights.

South Hamilton, MA

I've drunk skim milk for breakfast all my life. (That's 75 yrs of it). Originally alergic to 'animal fat' but as I grew out of that just preferred the taste. Can't stand the taste of coffee, by the way.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I like milk too, but not enough D in it. I take supplements and take careful amounts of sun.

How creepy and 1984-ish is this?!

A house in my area has a large row of purple iris in full bloom.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Just discovered I planted some dwarf iris behind the regular kind. Gotta move that.

Love those wasp shots, Sherrie!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hi Harper! How's the botanical drawing going??? I love your stuff!

Yeah, Sherrie - very cool shots! Glad you didn't get stung!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Incredible hornet nest pics Sherrie!

I take calcium/magnesium with D for my back. I think that saved my feet when I dropped a huge Queen Anne chair on it. Doc was amazed that I wasn't broke. Did a second set of xrays cuz he wanted to be sure but YIPPEE! only major tissue damage.

Sofonisba, be still my heart! cuz I always seem to be the only one mucking up irisii. BUT I do believe with the 'bare bum theory' that I will have prettiful blooms this year even from the divisions, transplants and bum lifts I did last year (I hope, I hope, I hope).

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I haven't drawn since the last geranium drawing. I'm taking a plant biology class for illustrators until June, then in June I start drawing again with two classes: Drawing Roses and Illustrating the Perennial Border.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

OH OH (waving hand in the air) post pics of your drawings of the perennial border please and thanks.

DITTO

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And talk dirty about biology!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So they got the guy and he's from Bridgeport. Maybe Memory's neighbor!!

I came close to that thought, but Bridgeport is some what big.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I bet they still put a summons on the car.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Latest report is that the guy used a disposable cell phone to call the seller of the Nissan in CT, who posted it on Craigslist. Even though he no longer had the phone, they were able to track him down.

And I really wish people in authority would keep their trap shut while investigations go on. Bloomberg made a complete a** of himself by speculating who might have been responsible.

South Hamilton, MA

Until a trial police should keep their detection methods quiet. Don't want to tell others like him what to avoid.

Even though the VIN number was scratched off they still found who had the car. I know that there is "other ways to get a vin number or at least the make and model" Just about every part of your vehicle has numbers and or letters on it. You can take a sander and sand the numbers right off to where you cant see them. There is a certian acid that will lift the numbers back out :-)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The axle and the engine also have the VIN.

I could be wrong but, I dont think every make of car does. I definetlely know older cars dont at all. Heads, block, rear, tranny, axels, carbs even the frame has numbers and or letters where you can put the righ togather for the year and make.

How about all the dumb comments coming from the White House on the whole thing? They should all just shut up!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Lost in all the coverage of the bombing attempt and the oil leak is the terrible flooding going on in TN. Those poor people.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that's impressive

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I would like to see a video of that.

I saw the news on the flooding. I don't understand why people wait till the last minute to leave and then try to drive their car thru 10' of water.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I love those kind of stories...thank you Victor!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me too, Celeste. You're welcome!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

woo hoo... 1st hummer of the year!!!!!.. going to get the camera!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yippee!! Taks lots of pics!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yay!!! Still have not seen one. Have to put the feeder out.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, thank you! I far prefer to read the stories about people doing things right. I'd rather not discuss what people (or gov't) are doing wrong.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Unless I'm the one doing everything wrong, of course. I didn't mulch or weed much last year. Guess what I have to deal with this year. The dandelions are overwhelming!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't feel too bad, Harp. The 'grass' area near my pool was a sea of yellow the other day.

Sorry for bringing current events into the thread.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

So today it's a sea of white puff? That's what mine looks like. I feel helpless against it.

Thomaston, CT

Come see my lawn....white puff city! My art teacher said today she is taking some classes at NYBG on dry brush....I've tried it, but it's very tedious. Looks good on pansies though, which we started today.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well no photos of the hummer.. maybe tomorrow

:(

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Bloomberg usually makes an a** of himself, but then when you have as money as he does no one cares.
- The vin # can be lifted if the #s are not gouged out, (which is what professionals do). It doesn't stop the identification process, it just slows it down significantly.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

You should see my backyard, UGH the weeds
