whoa cool
Coffee Break #37 - Best time of year!
Difficult & cool.
Very nice!
This is why I don't like Google. They have zero regard for privacy. I've been amazed for years now how people scream at the potential abuse of privacy by the government, in various programs, but say nothing about KNOWN abuses by Google that happen every single day. From the start they have tracked what you search for and what you click on, etc. Their privacy disclosure was always hidden away and difficult to opt out of. I am shocked that their digitizing of books has held up. Their policy was that the authors had to opt out, not opt in. This is copyrighted material! Incredible.

Harper, your drawing is perfect!
I like to share yummy, relatively healthy foods. Another I like is this:

I like their burritos and really love the breakfast scramble wrap.
Thanks friends!
will give them a try if I see them
Nice roots, Harper! You have done a great job on all your drawings.
Nice roots!
What do you think of this story???
My sis meets a guy thru an online dating service he's orginally from the UK, graduated from Oxford living in OH, his wife passed away 6 yrs ago daughter is 13. He is an engineer travels around the world working with hydro something or another solar energy thingy???? IDK Anywoo...sis has been talking with him for about 5wks and he is supposedly going to be in Denver for something and they are planning on meeting for the 1st timein June. Well the other night she gets a call from his daughter(she travels with him everywhere and uses a tutor for schooling)they are supposedly in Africa and she's at the hotel and her father never came back to the hotel after leaving in the morning(you would leave your 13 year old in an African motel by herself?????) Supposedly(YES lots of supposedlies) he was forced out of his cab and beaten up and they stole all his $ and id and stuff. Ahh yeah, right. He's in the hospital, so now daughter is all by herself. So my sis calls the american embassy and tries to get them help, I am waiting for an update.
Does this sound really fishy to you????
Yep.
Jen, look up online dating scams, I didn't find the exact story, but very similar.
Think of it this way: wouldn't there be a lot of other people she would've called instead?
Aunts, uncles, other relatives, close friends of her father, etc., or call various gov't agencies first?
Absolutely a scam.
Without a doubt
I can't believe she fell for this!
Yes - I did not want to say that though.
Thanks Jan and Jumper2!
Good luck to your sis, Jen! Have they asked for money?
Harp - maybe you can sketch my blond roots??
yes Jen I received an email from a friend that said exactly that
scam!
YIKES!!! Jen's sister - run for the hills.
my sister fell for something like this - good think dumb does not run in the family
I would let the 'dating service' know that they have a scammer on their list. If they are legit, I would think that they would want to know.
My only complaint about the iPhone so far is the battery life. Not great.
Sure thing, Vic. I just need to excavate them first.
Sorry about the iphone battery. I thought it was similar to other smartphones?
My sis sent an e-mail and has come to her senses, thank God. Never even considered sending $. She has a police report and taken all necessary steps to make sure they no longer contact her.
Good to hear.
Wow, scary stuff! Glad she was smart about the money. Thanks for the heads up on the Amy's, Victor....I love the Indian dinners, but have not tried the others....will do so.
Just got off the phone with my sis. She figured she cooresponded with this guy and his "daughter" for 2 months!!! He even sent flowers(twice)!!! She has a pile of forms that need filling out for the police and the state department. She feels like such a fool. I told her not her fault for being trusting and actually thinking everything was fine when she even paid for a background check.
Chalk it up to experience. She'll be more cautious from now on.
He sent flowers to her, so that means she provided an address; did she get a legit address from HIM?
Scammers don't like leaving tracks for the authorities, so that is always a first clue.
All the info he gave matched his pic and everything...obviously a stolen identity. Forgot to ask her if he sent the flowers to her job or house. YIKES.
Big time scam. I heard the same story on a radio talk show the other day. The woman couldn't make up her mind if the guy was legit. OMG!
I'm glad you shared your sister's story, so that others can learn from it.
Those who are victimized (hopefully just once) are often people who are virtuous, because they can't believe anyone would be that devious.
what part of ... time to move on didn't she understand?????
but it might be a hacker thing too... don't know if he sent it or someone else
The state department says it's just not one guy but a whole group of people, they sit in a large room with a bunch of computers.
My sis is going to write a newspaper article.
An informed public is exactly what the bad guys don't want. Articles (newspaper, TV or internet) will go a long way to shut down con artists.
