Coffee Break #37 - Best time of year!

The only thing on the news is the car bomb in NYC. CNN & Fox were live for the best part of the night.

South Hamilton, MA

Boston & parts east of Weston. MA have to boil their water for a few days because of main break. Luckily it will be fixed then & they're not looking at months.

Yes, another one in NYC. With the saturation of video in that area, I'm sure he'll be in custody very soon. I would strap him to the car and re-start the timer.

Thomaston, CT

Sounds like a plan to me......

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I suspect he was a suicide bomber, but the 'bomb' fizzed out.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

One report says it was meant as a diversion for a bigger bomb. Not sure I believe that. In any event, lots of stuff going on recently, after years of nothing on our soil.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Why would there be a timer if it was a suicide bomber?!! Countdown to martyrdom?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

... redundancy. (lol)

South Hamilton, MA

Someone ran, better urge towards self preservation than many.

Just got back from Highland Park, the lilacs were in peak bloom. It was gorgeous, smelled heavenly. The lilac festival isn't until May 14-23, the lilacs will be finished before then. Happy to go without crowds everywhere.

Thomaston, CT

Glad you got to see them Debi....where's JoAnn? Haven't heard from her today.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

All seems early this year.

East Bridgewater, MA

"Lilac Sunday" is held every year at the venerable Arnold Arboretum, and their lilacs seem ahead of schedule too, from what I have heard.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

definitely early as was our 80 degree weather today too

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Never had clems this early. About to have iris blooming. The white azalea are about 10 days early.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

My Redbud had a whole bunch of buds about to open when we got hit with 30° temps this last Monday, just about all of them fell off! - but at least the leaves are still coming out, (thank goodness).
- And my tulips! - at least 2 doz specialty tulips were hit with 90° temps two weeks ago and that wiped out their show for this year! they wilted before they opened regardless of the water I ran out to give them!
This rollercoaster is wreaking havoc with my stuff, especially my 'spring' stuff!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - crazy!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I know, some of my tulips aren't so great this year either.

Victor here you go:

International Monetary Funds bailed Greece out of its depression. The US put 7-8 billion in that IMF. Then they went on to say is it headed this way. They said yes but only at the state level in NY, CA and NJ. Whos going to get hit will be public and union workers.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, this has a long way to play out.

Here is a bee making a nest - dont forget your looking stright up. I know the pic is small

Wasp, I hate those things! Very cool pics though.

Wall-e was running the other day and looked like he tripped. I was like "what the heck was that" He must have thought the same thing cause he looked behind him and then went to check out something in the grass. It was the biggest wasp I ever saw at least 3" long HUGE. I ran inside to get the camera but by the time I got back it was gone. If I ever saw something that big flying around I'd be running for cover.

You sure this is a wasp? I didnt think wasps had yellow?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, cool shots of a nasty insect.

is it a wasp? If so I will knock the heck out of that nest!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes. Either wasp or hornet.

Was hoping for Boobquake Two today since the moron from Iran is speaking to the UN. In case you did not catch it, aside from them speaking about the dangers of nukes, the UN has put them on a commission for women's rights!

Thomaston, CT

Wonderful! Sherrie, looks like a white-faced hornet----bad stinger!

I dont like hornets! Oh well its gone. I dont like Imadida-Jihad or what ever his name is either. He should be gone also

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

They put them on a commission for women's rights???!!! Are you kidding me????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nope.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That is just unreal!

Whats commission? Are we paying for it. Dumb question - we gotta be.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The Interior Dept had to postpone a safety awards luncheon today that had BP with two nominations. Doh!!

I am getting scared of that oil, if they dont get it capped. A hurricane comes in and the oil can go everywhere, I mean everywhere. From the gulf, to the tropics right up the east cost.

Well the Feds are calling the Times Sq incident an attempted act of terror. Duh.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

More nonsense.
