Other thread getting long. Coming from here : http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1082926/
Lots of orders from the cold grey winter and early spring will be arriving soon. Lets see them and hear about what you ordered and where they will live in your garden.
What have you ordered 2010 #6
what a bummer
Yuck that "S" word showing up again. At least you know it will go away quickly.
worked a bit outside this morning before is started to lightly rain - decided to go to the mahoney garden center in chelmsford after calling and finding they had the double knockout roses i wanted - got 2 of those - they also have a big discount section out back - came home with a nice enkianthus red flower, 2 beauty berry (callicarpa dichotoma) all for $15 each, 2 triclolor sedum, and as i passed the conifers a emerald spreader jap. yew, cypress hinoki fernspray gold, and a cypress hinoki dwarf nana found there way into the cart.
there were some shasta vib's in the discount section and a bunch of other stuff too - had to pull myself away - was hoping to find a shirazz jm there - they had them under shade netting last year and they looked horrible and doubted people would buy them, they need sun to look good- no such luck though.
i want another shirazz would be more accurate:) and i will have one this year although not a 5' tree.
I just figured out that I have 100 + gladiola bulbs coming - what was I thinking of?
put them in a big mass bed and they will look great!
OMG... that's quite a few... can't wait for photos
It's easy to do Michaela, I think I ordered at least 30 this year. But a 100 mass planted would be lovely!!
I ordered 2 new clems from Silver Star Vinery. Wanted a blue that would have a long blooming period and cover the arbor. I have a pink rose that is very fast grower that I will plant with them. I took Victor's advice and emailed Debbie for advice on which would fit my description. Blue, grows well and blooms the same as the rose and longer, reaches at least 7' and can take full sun and zone 4/5 winters. She sent 5 wonderful choice but I fell hard for "Ken Donson", 3rd one down on this page......

My big box of Caladiums arrived today. WooHoo!!!
I had a coupn from HD for a BOGO tree, so I came home with 2 different crabapples. Got one planted already. Deciding where to put the other one. Also 3 blueberry bushes.
just brought home 5 cinnamon ferns from the woods at a great price!
AWESOME!!! I may just have to take a hike and see what's out there.
cool Jan & Bill I am impressed!!!
I've got some catching up to do. Nice selection there Bill. I bought two enkianthus last year and both are doing well. Wife received a couple of clems and has them in water til she can get out to plant. She also received a couple of nice peony trees and order a yellow one from Estabrooks in Yarmouth since Van Bourgeion (?) ran out before they completed her order. Groundhog is back but I've set my trap for him/her. One year I caught 7. They usually gobble up my peas. I noticed a couple of my DL's had been gnawed on and that's when I discovered the beggar. I put all my potted plants up on a table and hopefully he won't climb up there!
Pixie I had to do a double take on your arbor. It looks almost exactly like the one I built last year for my garden. I have hops growing up mine.
Nice frank! Hops grow very tall....saw some crawling up the porch of a 3 story apt. building in Augusta a few years agos.
I gave some sucker plants to a friend who does home brew and got some free home brew out of it (lol)!! Good stuff too!!!
allison you are impressed i pulled over on the side of the road with shovel and large container in hand?:) grabbed some rocks too:)
thx frank - use to do home brew now i brew at a brew store, we call it premium brew - about time for one now!
Lawbreaker!
I don't suppose you'd care to share, Bill?!?!?!?!?
the law breaking is why I am impressed.. wouldn't expect it from you
Allison....would you be judging a book by it's cover?? LOL
Didn't order anything but Brian went to Home Depot for a chain and came home with a new rose and I was not with him!!! He said, "Not sure how I did(zone hardy) but I really liked it and I hope you do too." He did great, it's hardy to z4 and it's a Hybrid tea rose!
Arizona....
