Time for a new room ladies!
Signs of Spring are here. Show us what you have growing!
Picture is of a hooded oriole feeding from one of my hummingbird feeders yesterday!
Shes about too... #49
I'm first!!! Ya!!
LK is that an oriole? Thanks for the new room. Was just going to ask. :))
Haven't ever seen one of those, LK. Beautiful capture.
I haven't seen hummers up here yet.
It is raining here again......not raining but pouring, it got pitch black as night, you could feel the electricity in the air! Suppose to rain Saturday, but be nice Sunday, course we will be busy inside Sunday. Guess I will start potting indoors, the ground may never dry out. We have so much clay that I am afraid if I dig in the mud, I will make concrete...
It is April.....so won't be long stuff will be blooming....
Yes, it is a hooded oriole! He is so pretty! Funny to watch him land on the feeder, tip to him, and drink what tries to spill out! Pretty smart! I have orange halves on the fence post, but they prefer the hummer water.
Susie, watch your mail. You have more Brugs that were mailed Wed. Yard Sale Yellow and Southern Bell.
Spring came, and now it feels like Summer. 90 here today
All this time we couldn't wait to be outside again and today is just blazing hot, too hot for me to get out there and dig. We reached 90 too, Faye. It was 85 on the back screened-in porch when I took a break an hour ago.
OK Faye and Joyce, watch for your boxes of Caldiums next week. They're mixed so we'll have to compare notes when they leaf out.
My MIL gave us a box of Oranges, way too many for 2 people, so I cut a few up today too, LK, in anticipation of seeing Baltimore Orioles. I've never seen one drink from a feeder. Amazing! BTW, we're still waiting to see our 1st Hummer.
Hey friends, Happy Good Friday & Easter Sunday! My Dad always planted his veggie garden on Good Friday, course that was in SC and is typically 6 weeks ahead of my Zone. Funny the stuff we remember.
Thank you Susan, will send postage when box arrives.
Like Susan, I'm wishing to all a great Easter. Let's remember why we celebrate!
No ma'am, Don't you even think about reimbursing me for postage :)

Beautiful!
Have a great weekend and a Blessed Easter.
WOW Susan those are gorgeous tulips.
Susie I'd keep the brugs inside for a little while to get started in the warm. In a few weeks though you could but them out. I'm no expert. A lot of folks know more about them than I do.
N

Rainy day here so thought i would get caught up on housework "YUCK " Hate that word :)
About time to go start super so have a great evening .
Susie, did you get the Brugs from me? They were mailed Wed.
Don't worry about it. I've got a place for them here.
Today was the most beautiful perfect spring day here....OMG, I love being in the garden! I cleaned up stuff, and DH got me a truck load of mulch, (I figure it cost me around 100.00 to mulch all the gardens, the downfall to having acres of property) I know alot of people wouldn't appreciate mulch as a present, but to me it is gold....LOL I tell my garden friends what I got, but my other friends, I just say he got me wonderful stuff for the garden and they don't ask any more cause they don't garden...LOL So one garden down and the rest to go...LOL One year I decided I wasn't going to spend much on mulch and not put it on deep, and it was AWFUL, I couldn't keep the weeds out, everything was drying out, that was the one year being in the garden wasn't fun! Now I am also investing in low growing ground covers to try to replace the mulch.
90 degrees! Wowzer! That is hot hot...can't imagein that in April.
FOTV, Mickey Mouse is a beautiful tulip, my daffs just started blooming, and the tulips are in bud but not flowers yet. Lilac bush is loaded in buds can't wait for that.
deejay, I bet you are having a ball out in your building playing. Now even when it is raining you will have an excuse not to clean house...LOL you can go to the garden room and play.... :D
Have a great Easter everyone.
What a day. First thing this morning while waiting on coffee to brew, I watered the pots of Tulips and jugs I'd Winter sowed, some were really dry. That was the easy part. Then I planted a flat of Pansies, sowed more seeds, put peanuts out for the Jays and Woodpeckers, and fluffed about 100' of last year's mulch. I'm pooped but at least now I can judge how much more mulch I'll need this year. It was cooler today too only in the low 80's and was overcast. My chimes are singing in the wind. I can't wait to see pics of your Brugs, Debra.
Waiting for the pictures Debra. so glad you had good results with them. I have quite a few that are really green and growing. will be glad to put them in the ground.
Susan it was beautiful here today also. I haven't finished with mulching. I am going to dig up thick grass that separates 4 different brugs and mulch heavy so I will not have to try cutting grass between them. That is going to be hard digging in this red clay, and I cannot do it if it's very hot. This morning would have been perfect, but I had other things that had to be done.
Ray had a second opinion about his foot. This foot specialist agreed with the Dr. that said he needed to have 5 bones fused together. Cannot stand the thought of this. One Surgeon told Ray not to let anyone do that to his foot, there was a possibility of later loosing his foot . Ray said today that he didn't think he was going to have it done because his back hurts so bad that he didn't think he could stand the added pain. Ray cannot take pain meds. because of having just 1 kidney.
Thanks for listening.
Happy Easter to All. Let's all go to church Sunday!
You can use me anytime for a sounding board, Faye. Ray is such a gentle, kind man and I feel so bad for him. It sounds like he's in a catch 22 situation, either being in constant pain or not being able to take meds. I wish I knew the answer and who could help him. Has he seen a doctor at Duke?
Faye Yes I got your Burgs yesterday Don''t Know why I said NEENER Forgive me .
Guess I just had to much running through this small Mind Big Head lately .
they made it in very nice shape . all potted up ..
well company coming today for dinner so much to do daddy wants pie Jims Kids want cake .
So HAPPY EASTER ALL
susie
Yes Susan, it was a Duke specialist that he just saw. You are so right, Ray is honest, kind, gentle and so loving. He is in constant pain from both, his back and his foot.
Happy
Easter Sunday everyone. Jesus arose, He is alive!
And I am thankful He died on the cross for me and mine, and the Promise is to be fulfilled..
I am with your husband, no surgery! My hubby works all day with a torn achilles tendon and refuses to have surgery, takes no pain meds, but he is strong in Faith and we all go on. I Pray all their suffering will subside today.
Linda Big Hugs to you, my hubby really likes my jammies.. remember those?
Today I am trying a new pill for the ringing and bells and whistles in my ears.
Pray for at least one of them to go away. Hard to go to sleep at night.
I put 8 brugs out yesterday. after all the easter day is over I will get some pictures.
Talk to you all later..
Debra, I am so sorry you have those noises in your ears. I had just ringing and it only lasted a very short time and I thought it would drive me crazy. I pray that you soon will have complete relief. God still does miracles! I will pray that a healing miracle be done for your hearing.
Happy Easter Ladies!
I wasn't sure if anyone here might be interested in a Worm Factory composter. I decided to dump mine and clean it up. It is listed on e Bay if anyone wants one at a good price. It looks brand new even though I used it for a couple of years. Cleaning out and simplifying here to make my life easier. :))

Happy Easter Girls!
How cute, Susie. Look at their food fight.
Your composter looks brand new and that's a great start price, Neener. Somebody outta snatch it up. I've been on eBay since 2000 and used to do really well selling til 9/11. Then there was long lull. Every now and then I still list but it's been a while. hmmm.....that gives me an idea about some great "stuff" I've accumulated too. There's this thing called gardening I seem to eat, sleep and drink in anymore.
happ, last Fall hubby bought a dump-truck of coarsely ground trees for $50 from a guy clearing a lot down the road. It'll take a while for it to turn to "gold" but I can wait and what a deal. Valentine's Day he gave me by-pass clippers and another one that's scissor-type for clipping fine foliage and deadheading. And for my B-day I got a 2-1/2 gallon galvanized watering can. Faye, it looks just like the can on your card. I'll take anything related to gardening over a candlelit dinner...LOL What's wrong with this picture?!
Here's one of my Casa Grande Tulips blooming today.....they are unbelievably the HOTTEST Orange I've ever seen.
I guess I'm lucky. I got three truck loads of woodchips for nothing. I think I'll be getting at least two more. The tree trimmer is coming to finish my trees this week and will leaves the chips for me. I'm starting a big compost with all of it.
You did luck out, Mary, take all you can get for free. We lost an apple tree last year, made my DH sick, but the mulch from the ground up stump was fine enough to mix in the garden and smelled so good.
Here's the pile of ground up trees last October, some were Oaks and Poplars but most were VA Pines.
Susan I'm with you on the candlelit dinner. Once eaten, you have nothing to show for your money. I like to spend on things i can hold in my hands and see. Your Tulips are awesome.
Yep Marti, I too think you were lucky getting wood chips free. We have had two loads of triple ground black mulch, (10 yds each) delivered at the cost of $255. per load.
Hugs
One of my piles is mostly maple, the other two are pine. The next load will be a mix of pine and maple.
And your right. Makes the yard smell so nice. All piney.
Plus I have 3 loads of composted horse manure being delivered for a total price of $80.00. The manure has been piled up and turned several times since last year mixed with hay, alfalfa, and shavings from the stalls.
Oh YES Black Gold for my garden!!!!!

Goodness, you all have been busy! Cleaning, and mulching gardens! WOW! Must be spring!
Sure hope none of you are close to the earthquake in California just a little bit ago! Sounds like it was a good one! 7.2!
Debra, I remember the jammy swap. That was fun! Glad you like them!
