Looks like we have finally got rid of the rain. Maybe a short passing shower this am, but it is gone for the most part and the lake that had formed is already starting to recede a little bit. We did get a very, very small amount of water coming into the cellar in one corner right at the end of the rain. Must have reached the saturation point but luckily the rain stopped and soon after so did the leakage. Pump is working every 12 seconds to keep up with the underground flow of water. Still overcast and dismal out there but hoping for a peek of sun late this afternoon. Light SE wind with a temp at 45 degrees.
Hope everyone has escaped with little or no problems from all this rain. At least a nice stretch is forecast for the next few days to dry out everything.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 66
I'd forget the ladder and get a cherry picker!
- One of my neighbors was putting up x-mas decorations two years ago in front of his house while standing on a "sturdy" box 2 ft off the ground, of course it was sturdy for 4 seconds and he fell, injured his elbow, now he has a pin in it and can't bend it all the way. This last x-mas he didn't put them up!
i hear you wc - i have a 24' ladder for all the other gutters and that is not too bad - also use a stabilizer with it so it is pretty safe - in the back if it slipped you would not survive - neighbors had a guy fix their roof a couple months ago - we plan to call him up - this guy had no fear running up and down the ladder that was just leaning against the house at a steep angle - crazy
You should see my hubby do that, he's crazy.
DH has stopped that sort of stuff & we get someone else to do it. Of course, he just turned 80.
62 and sunny. Hope the ground dries enough so we can start riding outside!

Hee hee.....I should hope he stopped, but then again Auntie Theresa still mow's her own front lawn. She's 86? or is it 87?
Some standing water in the back yard, although other areas with the same condition this morning are clear, but I bet they are wet underfoot. & what about R. Island, I bet that they won't be dry for weeks.
He runs the string mower, but it's on the ground.
On the ground is much better than in the air.
I had to change my approach to high work because of my loss of grip. It was one of the contributing factors to retiring, along with the fact I could.LOL The vertical ladders were the pits, and my safety harness wasn't designed for climbing. I'm still comfortable on a well tilted ladder or safety line. But I'm even more comfortable standing on the ground and watching one of the boys do it. Ric
Hit 68*F today, beautiful. Not much done though still got a dozie of a cold. Ric

41 now going to 72!!!
April cant get any better.
going to be warmer for the next several days - looks like the clouds are starting to thin - the nashua river is cresting today and roads have been closed due to flooding!
50°, windchill 42°, wind N 9mph, partly sunny
No flooding problems here, severe beach erosion instead.
51*F already, and it looks just golden out there. Hope to get more done today. Ric
The "lake" has been receding, but there are still very large puddles and the pond in the lower end of the property. Overcast and should eventually become sunny some time this afternoon. Warmer temps should arrive as well. Currant temp is 47 degrees with a variable north wind.
Looks like a super day today---sunny & high 60s..hope the cold is better, Ric. When my Mom was in her late 80s, she was holding the ladder for her neighbor across the street, who was in her early 90s, so she could clean out the gutter....the neighbor lived to 99, Mom is now 95, someone was watching over them!
Let's see if the farmer's almanac is correct for April and May. It was right on for March, (last year) saying that it was going to be very wet...they weren't lying!
"April and May will be warmer and drier than normal, with water reservoirs running low.
Summer will be cooler and drier than normal, with a drought possible despite heavy rain in early June from a tropical storm. The hottest periods will be in mid-June, mid-July, and early to mid-August."
72 and sunny. Going up to 78 tomorrow.
The sun is shinning and the temp is up to 56 degrees. Wind is calm and it is just lovely out if a bit soggy under foot. I could not resist and did prune some clems and roses this am that I could get to without stomping in the soggy soil. So far only things I see that might have gone by the wayside are one delph and a columbine that looks like a critter dug out looking for goodies. Sun is already staring to dry up all the puddles. Yippee!
sun is out here too and may have approached 60 - saw the first two sun turtles today! - water snakes can not be far behind:)
High for today was 60°, with a windchill of 53°, presently 46°
Another glorious day.
43 now going to 75!!!
53*f going to the 60s, anyone remember an old Cat Stevens song "Morning has Broken", just golden here.
Since we're about an hour and a half above DC and get a lot of the same weather patterns, Victor should be having some nice days. Ric
had my first cup of coffee on the deck.. with a jacket.. the sun feels so good!!!
yup here too - mid forties right now - will try and get a bunch done outside today like fertilize and transplant some perennials - supposed to have dirt delivered although i think they will bail until next week as the dirt (mud) must be saturated.
bet it is... think love is FINALLY in the air with Lily & Riley!!!... not sure if I missed some overnight action.. she was walking funny this morning
Ah, spring! " Morning has Broken" is one of my favorites..going into the 70s today...all the tropicals are going outside to enjoy the sun.
57°, mostly sunny
Transplanted 10 sunflower seedlings yesterday and started new ones. My specialty tulips & hyacinths are about ½ way 'there' and will most probably bloom later this mo & throughout May. Other transplants, (except for the Sea holly), will wait until ground is a bit warmer I don't want to risk a killer frost overnight with the tender seedlings if I can help it. Dahlias need warm soil as well...
A beauty day! The temp is 69 degrees and saw my first little blue butterfly and also not so good the first dreaded lily leaf beetle. Next few days are supposed to be just as marvelous. Hope this warm sun dries things up , I am running out of stuff I can do without going in the beds much.

Oh, I hope it dries up for all of you and that the lovely weather finds each one of you for a nice Easter weekend! It's quite warm here, but the humidity is low, so we are enjoying the weather too. Low 80's for the next 7 days. We took a lovely day trip over to Gasparilla Island and walked the girls all around the island a couple days ago. Too hot now to leave them in the car except early in the a.m., so they aren't getting as many outings as before.
Happy Easter to all who celebrate it!
Happy Easter to you too Louise.
high 50s here--we are where they say 'cooler near the coast'. sigh Did finish weeding an iris bed. DH has uncovered some more & will have to weed like crazy. Eye drops start tomorrow.
... Same here, cooler near the coast. Wind direction changed, now from the South, which means off the ocean. That should keep us a few degrees cooler than the mainland this weekend, so if you're planning to go to Jones Beach bring a sweater! lol!
80 here, warmer inland from the Lake.
We were in the low 80's here, tomorrow too
I was taken to Jones Beach by an uncle & aunt when I was 4. I remember the white sand, so strange to me, but that was a LONG time ago.
