How ow owwwwwwwwww. The coyote isn't really into birds. They're safe. That's one big bird. How do you know there are 2 youngins?

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Forgot I planted one of the Vietnamese Hollyhocks already. Dumb me. I have three of them Marti.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Lucky you!! I was out today and checked at WalMart and Lowe's none there, but I found some other plants that can I'd like to add to my garden. one was Waterberry speedwell. Interesting little plant. Plus a coral bells called Alabama Sunrise Foamy Bells. and Summer Sorbet Coryopteris. I just have to see if I have any money out of my next check to get any and send out the birthday presents that I owe. Birthday presents come first than plants for my yard.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Probably not gonna see Vietnamese Hollyhocks up there, since you can grow all of the Hollyhocks. They're, pretty much, the only choice we have in Florida. Sounds like you found some nice plants. The selection of things is getting more limited now that the weather is heating up. Everyone will be pulling out the impatiens soon and replacing them with vinca, vinca and more vinca for summer color.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

We seen the babies the morning they hatched! camera though.. could not close enough to get a good shoot of them. We saw the nest too.. when it had the eggs! There were two and they hatched! Awesome sight! Probably a once in a lifetimer!

Heres the pair.. one to the left and one to the right.. oh how I wish I had a better camera!

A very mangy coyete w/ a rabbit in it's mouth ran across the road in front of us as we were coming back from exercise class. Fox finaly clean out both our chicken coops and with 4 donkies in the pasture!!?? Owls are in abundance too.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I dont thingk the gaurd animals are all that they are cracked up to be. I think they get immune to frequency.

Holy crude! things are getting ugly in the gulf.....

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

http://blog.skytruth.org/2010/05/gulf-oil-spill-new-spill-rate.html

And I thought the media said it was a tanker that blew and was spilling earl......It does not compute.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Whatever it is, it is a total disaster that seems like it won't be stopped until August. It will spill 2 to 3 times the current amount if it continues that long. We're only seeing the beginning of the damage which is the scary part.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I heard that the oil was turning the white seashells pink and of course then there is the damages to the environment and the fishing and and and...

It behooves me why the heck they did not do something more about it earyier....derned thing sounds like a drilling that got out of control in the capping.

Whats freaky to me is the lax reporting, but then thats par for the course isnt it.

So much is just not adding up.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

They (BP) kept quiet about it, didn't allow the video content to get released to the media initially, and downplayed the seriousness about it and how much was leaking. They thought they would be able to fix the problem, reasonably quickly, and everyone, including the media would just "go away". Well none of that happened and they were forced to start revealing what they knew.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Yeah, downplayed the seriousness about it.. Hello, A shot in the head is not serious! Good grief. Idiots every one of them.. then to DOOOWN PLAY IT.. What like they could get away with it? There is just too much not adding up to just a minor problem there. Oh I get it, if its out of sight, its out of mind... Dont tell anyone so no one can do anything... then next we got a worldly crisis going on.. aint it the way.

I suppose the blooming idiots thing the almighty buck will solve all the issues too like reserect a speeeerm whale or dolphin or oil slicked bird huh? Oh and about that fishing crisis.. dont worry the checks in the mail, but forget about doing what you like and emjoy.. that would not be covered, like swimming, sunning and just smelling the slat air. Yup, you got another odor to smell and enjoy So tough it out. Yup, blooming idiots everyone of them from BP to the other guys at the top of the oil slick. Typical cover up.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

The frustrating part is not knowing when this will end. With storms/hurricanes they have a beginning and an end, and then you move on. This just goes on and on and on and on. The oil will probably eventually make its way into the loop current and end up on our coast (east coast) also. Once it gets into the loop current it will make its way toward to east coast very fast. The closest gas station to my house is BP. LOL I no longer go there.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

BP has always been the highest fuel here. Have not gone there directionfor many years.

One would think that if it was just a boat leaking it would end soon enough, but with the warm water in the gulf, that disperses it quickly and like you said the flow... man what a disaster. And just how does one replace the irreplaceable?

Makes you sick.. there is no amount of money that can repair this.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

If this leaking goes on until sometime in August we ain't seen nothing yet. The damage we've SEEN so far, will be a drop in the bucket compared to what we will see in a few months. Getting any type of tropical storm or hurricane in the gulf will drive all that tainted water somewhere real fast.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

This is a travisty in more ways than one. Ithink the oli companies (NOTE: PLURAL!)
have over stepped their bounds of available technologies to prevent such a disaster. It only takes one accident... whats that saying Jon, You can only go down the hill at a high rate of spped once and lose control and you will never be able to do that again. Well that sayign sticks in this mud here perfectly and they should have known better before getting this far out of control that if a disaster struct they should have had measures INFORCE to minimize the risk before doing it. I blame the oil companies, and the government here. AND GREED. PURE STUPID IGNORANT.. oh stop me before I use up the Websters on cussing here. They have no regard for enronmental issues anymore than the dang man in the moon. Then they wonder why people are so irrate. But yet oh, just stop me stop me now.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

All the wildlife that is harmed. Those poor turtles, the pelicans, dolphins and endangered species. They never take in to account that travestiy there. And just how does one put a price on something that is absolutely priceless....

Yano Jon, we had a pair of sandhill cranes come to our bog the last two years. They gave birth to some babies. This year only one baby seemed to have survived. We are not sure becasue after they hatched they became pretty elusive. I beleive they will go south to the gulf in migration as will the Canadian geese and many many other birds that are up here for the spring, summer and fall months. What a travsty those birds will be heading for and the cranes, they are rare here.

We have so many precious things in the wild that we cannot seem to protect from manmade disasters what a shame. Some people have no clue what they are messing up and how it effects places hundereds or even thousands of miles away like my cranes.
I sadly expect to never see my lovely cranes again because of that oil spill.

The oil spill has adversley affected the precious bog here and they have done so by not touching my soil here, but by the birds and beasts that will migrate there in the future. It is irreprehensible, and unreplaceable. Those beasts will not return to complete a cycle of life here. Its horrible. Who knows how this will later effect the bog because of what THEY did??????

I am ashamed of our goverment, especially the presicent for not stepping up to the plate and getting going to clean the mess up quicker. The damage is done. It is finished for many ecosystems and they dont even recon to that. It is truly dispicable.

This photo, it was rare the day I took it.. it may be the last we shall see of the cranes here due to the disaster in the gulf. I am sooooo deeply saddened.
