A friend of mine put those sticky papers down around her plants and caught the rats that were chewing on her plants. She said she saw it done on a show on TV called Billy the Exterminator. She said she had doubts about it but it actually worked.
The LAWN MOWER LONGE 2010 - WHERE EVERONE MOWS SOME GRRASS!
Dont think sticky pads will work for a sqwaarl.....Unlest its the size of a doormat
Might scare the daylites out of it. They have those papers big enough for mice and rats. Also I'm told that mothballs keep pest out of the garden, including squirrels. I'm going to try some of these as I've noticed a squirrel out in the yard. I'll let you know if the sticky papers scare him away.
Squirrel season open soon...Paw will sit on the porch and get some with his cap pistol(.22).
Let me know when, bigred, I'll be down for squirrel stew. I also like it roasted with mushroom gravy.
ICK! Don't eat no tree rat! We give them to the neighbors, she cooks them up and the hubs eat them. I don't even want to look at it...Barf! I sure wouldn't be a good contestant for "Survival"....LOL
Tastes like chicken.
"looks" like fried rat..ICK-ICK-Pa-Tooy!
HA!HA!HA!
Hub's grilled nice pork chops last night but I only ate a few bites....must have been channeling my maternal grandfather Dewey Ellingburg. I prefer white meat chicken.
Yup, tastes like chicken... many parts are edible.. or so once said Uhl Gibbons! LOL!
Well anyway back to New business... price of unfertile chicken eggs here are at $8.94.
Price of goslings...priceless.. you~~you~ coyotee you..BADDDD COYOTE.... stay away or I will poke ya in the butt with a fork! Had to donate $11 bucks to the cause.
Old Blossom has jes be-cum a momma to 6 lil rescue youngins.... honk, hisssss hissss HONKKKKK!~

So whats everyone mowing?
Wile E Coyote is lurking.....he's lurking......
Whar? Dont see him no way no how....
Pitch ferk, whar are U?
we're having problems with fox here. They've already wiped out all our big chickens even with 4 donkies in the pasture and now they're working on neighbors chickens. One guy stayed up all night trying to catch them at it.
You know it. Keep that "watchful eye". He's always roaming, pacing and lurking. "How ow owwwwwwwwwww"
I wish.....
its raining and dark out so no mowing now.
It's just a breezy clear warm 75 degrees at 11PM. It's been sunny and warm all week, but very pleasant. The summer humidity hasn't settled in yet. Good to hear you're getting some rain. You needed it.
the blasted donkies aren't protecting squat any more...we're down to 3 chickens and now the neighbor says they're getting his cats!!Got up yesterday morning to loud noises to see fox running off with one of his cats in it's mouth!!! Is this normal for fox? I'd expect of coyotes but cats are dang near as big as foxes.
Yeah, they will take what they can get in their mouth.
I've been hearing them in the woods across the the field behind the house for years but this is the first time they've done anything like this.
Oh no no no Evil Twin, you cant do that you have to do my check ups periodically!
My Bp's will go steer crazee without you!
Exactly Blossom. She's just a "love em and leave em" kind of girl. LOL
AS long as you keep posting such beautiful pictures, you can pop in whenever you want!!! Another iris to add to my want list.
Pixie dust! Another one for my want list. Keep it up bigred
Here's an iris I'm adding to my garden this July. Don't know the name. Its one I'm rescuing from a lady's yard that does not want them anymore. I'm also rescuing hostas, ferns and maybe some daylilies, tiger lilies and some peonies. She does not want to have anything in the yard to care for. She just pays some guy to mow the lawn.
Nice iris photos. It's interesting to see the iris blooming in the South and then seeing the blooms work their way North as the season progresses.
Daylily season has begun here. This is Daylily "Pure And Simple" blooming this morning. The rebloomer is always the first to bloom and is my best blooming Daylily each year.
off to exercise class....bbl
amorecuore,
Love those 'Vietnamese hollyhocks' Where did you get them? Do they set seeds? Can you save me some seeds for next yr?
Marti
Thanks Marti. I grabbed two of them (Alcea ficifolia) when I saw them locally at "Flamingo Road Nursery" (www.flamingoroadnursery.com) about a month ago. There isn't much information about them online. There are posts that they do well in Florida, resist rust in our humid/wet climate, grow to 3-4 feet, and bloom until July and then die back until early/mid winter. They're technically classed as perennials because the mother plant returns in the spring. There seems to be many people looking for them in Florida, but the supplies must be limited. From what I've read they do set seed and I was planning to save some when they begin dying back. Make sure you remind me about your desire for some seeds. I went back to that nursery three days later and they were all sold.
