you have to love baseball - this quote was in the Red Sox notes today about getting back from NY.
Francona said he arrived home just before 6 a.m. He was in his office about six hours later. Francona considered sleeping at the park but decided against it.
“I’ve done it. I don’t like doing it,’’ he said. “Nights during the summer when we’ve had a real late night and a day game the next day, I know that if I do that, it’ll get me a couple of hours.’’
On those nights, Francona said, the only inhabitants of Fenway are him, assistant equipment manager Pookie Jackson, and the mice.
“That’s just what you want to see at 4 the morning, some little varmint that looks like [Dustin] Pedroia scampering through your office,’’ Francona said.
Sports Talk!! Part 3 - March Madness!
Funny! He could easily kill them if he just spits his chewing tobacco at them.
Only the mets could have both an inside the park hr and a triple play and stll lose.
Great story....but I'll bet there are rats, too, at Fenway....I saw a monster one at the Natural History Museum. Yeah, those Mets break my heart day after day! It was a clumbsy triple play, but it confused the Nats, too!
I love how Francona always picks on Pedroia because he knows Pedroia can take it.
Can't believe the Mets tried to give away a 9 run lead...oh, wait, I can!
And more great things from Maine.
These guys call themselves Dude Perfect and do some crazy basketball shots. Here's the latest.

Was never into lacrosse, but Army is in the NCAA quarters and will face Cornell on Sunday. Go Army!!
Go Cornell! Sorry, went to school in Ithaca, NY.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Mets took one from the Yanks....Pelfrey continues to get the job done....too bad that's it!
Let's Go Mets!
Yes, Pelf has been the best.
Wow - Jose Lima died at 37. Heart attack?!!
Scary....a lot of athletes die young from enlarged hearts. Happy the Mets won again, good game from Santana, & the Sox knocked off Philly again....wooohoo!
2014 Super Bowl here!! Hoping they still have scantily-clad cheerleaders.
Not in January weather. They should play in Green Bay, although I am tired of hearing about frozen tundra. There is a heating cord system under the grass.
Hopefully a home game for the Jets.
boo hiss!
you can go see the cowboys play
Only if they bring the cheerleaders. They can lose to the Jets.
not likely
They won't know what to do with the cold.
another cowboy booster i see:)
Re cheerleaders: They could jump up &
down---HAR HAR.
Don't think I would buy a ticket to NJ in Feb.
It's gonna be ccccccold
With the budget problems in NY, NYC & NJ, I'm sure the mayor and the governors would stand outside in Bermuda shorts to greet visitors!
They're showing the Mets '84 season during the delay. The good old days! I went to see Gooden a few times that year. It was really a phenomenon.
A sweep of the Phillies....dream come true...hope they don't blow it against the Brewers!
Gooden's first several years in baseball were all amazing. I remember going to baseball card shows and the one card everyone wanted was Dwight Gooden rookie cards. And this was on the far side of the country (Washington State).
I was thinking the same. And three shutouts!!
Yes, Gooden could have been one of the best ever. Too bad.
saw him once against some other high profile druggie at shea.
Clemmens?
HR in the bottom of the ninth....heartbroken, but it was the wrong choice for a reliever....bad managing! NCAA has UCONN on the hot seat....they don't like Calhoun, because he doesn't kowtow to them....this was all about a bad agent, & one of the Hartford Courant writers went on TV saying that.
guy who was a coke addict from san diego - long time ago
How crazy that we've had two perfect games in two months and there have only been 20 in history! I was lucky enough to be at Dave Righetti's no-hitter. Thrilling.
not for a sox fan!!!!!
Wow....best pitched game I saw was Cone, taking a no hitter into the 9th at Shea....seated directly behind the plate.
