The Mets GM sucks. Santana is not the same since the surgery. You trade him while you can still get something for him, before posing him to free agency.

GardenSox...how nice to see your team play & win! I watched the Mets for a few innings, no score, took the dogs for their walk & it was 6-0 Mets! That's how it ended....I missed all the excitement, but seeing a shutout is exciting, too. I'm afraid I have to agree about Santana.....

I'm thankful that the Red Sox didn't trade Lester to the Twins to get Santana a few years ago.

I think Santana is still one of the most talented pitchers in baseball and what he did last year with bone chips in his elbow all season was remarkable, but I think his best years are behind him, unfortunately.

It was great getting to see the Red Sox in person this weekend. I see them a lot when they come to this area to play the Oakland A's but the Oakland Coliseum is a pretty drab place to see a baseball game. AT&T Park in S.F., on the other hand, is a fantastic venue.

Varitek is great with the pitchers, but I think his hitting has benefited from all the extra rest he's had this year. I did read that they want to see if they can get Kevin Cash back to catch for them since he has experience catching Wakefield's knuckleball.

Not only should the Mets quit playing day games, they should stay out of Puerto Rico....what a hosing.

My brother was stationed there for 2 years while in the army.....fresh mangoes off the tree, & shake out the tarantulas from your boots & helmets! He did have a very pretty girlfriend there, too!

Puerto Rican women run the gamut from lily-white to pretty dark. Lots of influences - from Spain to the other Carribean islands to slaves. My wife Is Puerto Rican and is about as fair as you can get.

Same with Cubans....many are blonde.

With 11 guys on the DL right now, the Red Sox could probably use him. I wouldn't mind seeing Papelbon get traded to the NL. The Mets could probably use another frustrating closer, couldn't they?
