Sorry, but that's just tortured logic, Bill. Doug Collins could not win with basically the same team that Jackson inherited. He turned them around. Took him three years. He did inherit a championship team. And it's easy to say Malone and company were not in the class of the others because they never won! You can say that about anyone who never won. Jazz made it to the Finals two straight years. That was no fluke. They just were unlucky enough to face Jordan.
Shaq and Kobe never won without Jackson.
Sports Talk!! Part 3 - March Madness!
Another thing that sets Jackson apart from any other coach is how he won with different teams. Not only two different franchises, but really four different teams. The two three-year strings with the Bulls involved two totally different teams. Really only Jordan and Pippen were the constants. The first go around featured Grant, Cartwright, Armstrong, etc. The second team really had no center and had one of the few athletes worse than Manny Ramirez - Dennis Rodman! Yet he managed. And you have to give him credit for the player personnel moves too. Krause would not bring in players Jackson did not want.
Similar story with LA. The Shaq teams were much different than this current squad.
shaq won in orlando
the jazz could not beat a good eastern conference team during those years it was a good thing they were in the west - rodman showed up and played his role HARD - it was the off court and off season antics that were his downfall - manny is a completely different story only played hard when he felt like it - lazy in the field with goofy errors at moment - faked injury (was it his right or left knee, even he did not know, mri's said neither) or watched three pitches right down the middle and sat down (against the yankees no less), he also shoved the 72 yr. old travel manager to the ground when he did not get 20+ tickets for a sold out game in Texas - i stand by what i said.
aren't sports great for bar room arguments:) especially when i am right!
You may have had one too many already. Magic NEVER won, bro.
And I guess you never watched any of those games when Rodman took incredibly stupid technicals that Jordan had to scream at him on the court.
Rodman=Manny Rameriz if you ask me. Too bad that physical talent doesn't always have the mental talent to go with it.
So it was the Heat big freakin deal - you are still wrong!
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/onealsh01.html
rodman and manny are not in the same at all category lucy - rodman played hard and screwed up off the court - manny screws up while he is playing or in the club house - totally different.
No, Bill. You've never watched Rodman as a Bull if you believe that.
I did forget about the Heat win - AFTER he won three with THE MASTER.
how do you look in purple and gold?
And you are delusional about Rodman on the court - how many times did he lead the league in rebounds? should i post a link?
No kidding. I did not say he was not a good player. Did Manny not lead the league in hitting??? But Rodman was always involved in stupid things - fights, arguments, technicals. You have a selective memory, my friend.
manny never lead the league in average, home runs, or rbi's with boston of cleveland - no selective memory here:)
should i post his stats? :)
very dissapointed that is was a mixed bag when he came up to the plate - more boos although plenty of cheers and signs - guess those folks never played a team sport.
I was referring to Rodman. The Sox never would have won without Manny - get over it! He's a great talent who also happens to be a moron.
And you're wrong about Manny too! He led the league in '99 with 165 RBI's - ouch! Also, led HR's in '04 with 43. Also led slugging that year.
He woud do even more if he would behave himself. Talent doesn't mean that you grow up. Other teams really don't want to touch him because of the stunt he pulled on the red sox.
Mets over Yanks, 1-0, top 7.
The only time I root for the Mets, when they're playing the Yankees
It was a great game...hope Pelfrey gets his 10th today!
Yes it was! They're looking good lately!
:( Not good enough today! Oh, well, can't win them all.
I suggest the Mets stop playing day games.
Yes. What's with Santana??
Don't know...they bunted him to death, & then he threw the wrong pitch to Texiera...but he's been giving up lots of hits....just does not look like himself.
Remember this guy?
http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2010/06/19/nba-player-manute-bol-dies/
I do, Jen...he played for the U. of Bridgeport here in Ct before he went into the pros....he was badly injured in a taxi accident a few years ago.
Saw him play when he was either with Philly or Miami can't remember...couldn't believe how tall and skinny he was
Yes, I do. I heard about that over the weekend.
Oh, my grandson in Oregon is SOBBING and is beside himself. His favorite Blazer = Martell Webster was traded. My DIL and son are having a time trying to console him. It's a big deal to a 12 yr old who met this player.
That's a bummer. I remember when Seaver left the Mets.
i remember when the sox traded Freddie Lynn and Rick Burleson then Carlton Fisk left - and the Danny Ainge trade for the Celts - tough when you are young.
Just remember to tell GS that he is still the same player that he met. Maybe they can get tickets when his new team plays in Portland. It is always tough when your favorite players goes elsewhere, even for adults.
In baseball I find that it makes more sense to become a fan of the team's General Manager rather than the players because the players come and go so often. It's too bad because through rooting for our teams we develop a fondness for some of the players and then they become free agents and you realize that they are people with families and they only have so many years to make their money so of course they are going to leave for greener pastures. . . so I say "Go Theo Epstein!"
DIL said today that when the already-planned switch to Comcast happens, they will have the NBA channel, so both dad and his son will be happy. LOL
Good idea about getting tickets. Christmas gift for Grand son - check.
I'm still bummed about losing Seaver!
Hope you enjoyed the Renegades, Victor...the Mets game was a good one, my stepdaughter & her husband were there.
??? Who are the Renegades?
Great game! Their offense was completely shut down the entire game by the Cyclone (Mets farm team!) pitchers. Only three hits going into the 9th inning. Score was 3-1. Scored three in the bottom of the 9th, including the walk-off hit with an 0-2 count with two outs and the score tied.
Wow...those are the ones i love to watch!
I think the Sox are snakebit. Now Martinez has a broken bone. It is good to have a chance to see your team. I go nuts trying to see the Packers.
