Trisha, it's overcast here and just starting to lightly snow...spring can't come quick enough!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Hi Betty - missed you too. The family is doing great! Both kids are have a great school year and DH & are are still employed and loving our company so we're blessed there.
I had surgery on my foot (finally!) on the 5th to get rid of a bone spur that was causing a soft corn between two toes. I haven't had any pain but wearing this stupid boot is getting old. I get to take it off on March 6th and try out tennis shoes for a bit.
Yes, we have had our fill of snow this season - 39" to be exact in our back yard! I love the snow - when it's falling and even for a few days after but then it gets ugly and I want it gone. Now we're dealing with the glorious mud in the backyard and have 8 furry paws to wipe off constantly! (Both, Murphy & Sailor are doing great and loving each other a ton!). We're expecting another inch or two tonight so if it freezes the mud, I'll be happy!
We have decided to head down to the Florida Keys for spring break and I am so ready for some sand and sun! We're driving so it will be an adventure with the kids. We've bought them boucoups of DVDs to watch so hopefully they won't get bored. They were great on our New England trip last July.
Well, I'm on a wonderful liquid diet today because I get to go for my 5 year colonoscopy tomorrow morning. I cannot wait to drink that 4 liters of stuff tonight! After the procedure, I have already told Jim he is taking me to Krispy Kreme for donuts! Hopefully all will be ok and I can go another 5 years before the next!
Remember everyone: March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month! The colon is nothing to be embarassed about or ashamed of. We all have them (some bigger then others! ;-) If you've got ANY unusual things going on down there - GET IT CHECKED! I lost a dear girlfriend last May to colon cancer. She was ONLY 44 years old and I know it could have been preventable! I miss her more every day!!!
Cheers all!
Jeannine
You are on Trisha...you don't have to shovel rain...lordy it's coming down isn't it? no need to water your plants/shrubs...
Jeannine, glad to hear the family are well..I envy you your trip to the keys..usually you holiday much closer to home..I can only imagine the mischief Murphy and Sailor can get into..you know, just a few weeks ago I came across a shoe box while organizing my craft room and storage room..what was in it..you guessed it, Murphy and Sailor figurines that I thought I'd mailed..oh yes..a Victorian Santa that painted, thought it had been posted as well..should have been done about 2 years ago..so will wrap both up and get them off...I am truly embarassed..hate it when I say I'll do something and don't..but did think I did (if that makes any sense)
So glad the jobs are going well..have you been quilting lately?
Don't envy you drinking the meds for the colonoscopy..had one done last fall..the actual colonoscopy was easy it was that crap you had to take...
Do remember your friends passing..you'd think time would ease the pain of losing a loved one, it does from time to time but it's always there..hugs to you my friend...thanks for the reminder...everyone most certainly should have it done...
Looking forward to seeing photo's of your gardens..you know, never did master that cement rock mold..tricky to say the least...
Audrey my mom does the same thing and dwells on it, I don't get it. Do some farting around on the computer or pick up an indoor hobby and quit worrying about it! LOL drives me nuts! LOL
He doesn't care if I hang up on him, he hangs up on everyone else yelling 'bye!' as he's taking the phone away from his head and pushing the 'end call' button. I called him back on my landline phone sitting on my desk here at work, he just told me that I was a goob.
I think they are all three adorable!!!
Hi all, its late here but I wanted to pop over and at least read thru the threads... trying to not fall behind! LOL!
so, waving for now, Liz great to hear things turned out for your grandmas favor! I hate mean people LOL!
Trish...please dont send that rain my way! LOLOL! and I love those afghans... i still have lots of yarn here I need to do something with...someday!
Well DH is finally painting my master bath...I'm hoping to get doors and drawers there soon.
will wave to everyone now and back to read more tomorrow!
morning all,
so angry had this long post and disappeared ahhhhhhhh!
thank you for all the kind words
Crissy, omg i laughed so hard i will not show that to my mom she would buy it and do something, now that the most of this is over, all the rental properties have to be appraised and brought to fair market rentals so were sweating that one out.
in this area rentals are 1800 to 2300 geeeez
when granny bought this place she said in the real estate office this is yours when i go,
well with the others ransacking her home my mom believes they found her will and took it, and the attorney said we didn't keep copies back then.
so now the conservator ship wipes that all out, so I'm debating unloading alot of this place in the event we have to move, and I'm a pack rat geeeez guess one step at a time.
Trisha, those are some nice pieces your working on, ahhh you got the rain like we do
starting to feel waterlogged.
Jeannine how are those rascals getting along, how old are they now?
glad to hear family good and hope you get off that boot soon.
Judy wow your turning into quite the quilter nice work
nice to yap with you. gawd just chased skunk it was screaming next door omg got the hose and chased it away gawd it stinks outside better i found it before asta has another run in again this is tooo much!
Betty happy birthday to Noah, kyle looks good in his uniform, and the puppy awwww
now that ice fishing looks fun!
oh ya here is how many squares i got done and i was thinking on a 5 foot long by 43 inches wide omg it stinks in this room! skunk yuck lol i have to go and febreze the house..
tubby how are you feeling
Liz, love the purple, color are so complimentary..you'll just have to make a strip as long as you want then the next strip put the color of your last grannie square first and follow the color scheme..makes for a nice balance...
Oh no..isn't your grannie in sound enough mind to say it's your house again when she's gone??? think you had all better spend some time going through all her papers and try to find the will..how disappointed and upset you must be...life isn't easy is it? my heart breaks for you Liz, know how much you and Kenny like it there..wow is rent really that high???
Snowing quite heavily, saying tomorrow will be worse, snow and high winds so if that's the case maybe I'd better transfer the telephones to my house..if Paul calls in this morning I'll have to ask..
Forgot to tell you a cute thing that happened last night..the little paperboy/papergirl who do the delivery wrapped all the flyers, put it in the plastic bag they are given, was watching them, they had a little talk, few seconds later here come the little boy, probably about 10 all around the house to the back door, now my back verandah is closed in during the winter, he made his way to my backdoor and handed me my paper..so off I went to get a toonie ($2.00) and gave it to him...did the same the last few weeks so guess they know I treat them, get special service..lol..better start putting a toonie aside each week...too cute
Way cute Betty!!
LOL Liz! When my grandfather passed he had the will set up to where she passed first, so it was pretty much no good. And that clause that says something about anyone contesting the will receives $1.00, that's a bunch of hooey, and the person doing the suing usually wins. Sad sad. I'm so glad yours worked out for the most part!
Yea, the boys like to let their hair grow out now a days, like the '70's style is coming back. Yuk but he'll more than likely grow out of it. Kyle is such a grown up with that uniform on! Hopefully he'll stay focused while he's growing up.
Just a word to the wise, if anyone has anything to pass on to anyone, it is better to put it in thier name before you leave this world, that way, no one can contest it, and no one has to pay any inheritance taxes, and especially large lawyer fees! This is what My Mom did before she passed away, and everything went so smoothly when she passed.
Morning everyone, Betty, that is so cute about the paper kids delivering your paper for the tip! Never heard of a toonie.
Morning Crissy, how is "miss cheerful" today?
Liz, I love those colors together, reminds me of a pretty bouquet of flowers.
Morning Tubby and Shirley, hope you got a good nights rest?
I would assume though you'd have to have complete trust to transfer your home and $$$ over to someone before you pass on..I've heard of some major tragedies when doing so..having a will in the care of a lawyer should work right?
Linda Kay don't have a loonie and toonie in my changepurse..will get one of each at lunch and post photo of them..we lost our $1. and $2. bills in lieu of coins and now they are talking about $5.00 being put into coins..their reasoning is paper must be replaced while coins not...
Half the time we think we're broke and yet when we look in our change purse we've $$$ galore..lol
Yep, kids learn quickly don't they..saves me looking for the paper in a snowbank..ohhh lordy talking of snow banks you should see the storm going on here...Paul called and I forgot to ask about transferring telephones..drats
I've been spending part of the morning looking at afghan patterns done on the knitting machines..what do you think of this one
http://www.candletech.com/soap-making/hot-process-soap-instructions/#stepone4
no/no/no...wrong photo..that was yesterday's photo of the day when my mind was into making soap..lol

Can't you just tell I'm antsy, can't find enough to keep me going...

I'm fine.......................................
I got a good nights sleep.........................................
Tubby
Glad to hear you are starting to rest for longer periods of time Tubby..very important to your recovery...hugs to both you and Shirley...
Ms. Cheerful is out sick again. She's running herself way to thin but is too proud to stop. She's been sick more than she's been well. Whatever, I don't have to put up with her moody rear! There's a 2 day stomach virus running around here at work, she was so worried about getting it I think she gave it to herself.
Tubby! Hey there!!
My coin purse is fat, wonder how much I have? I think I'm going to count it, what a good idea!
Morning Crissy, you still have the happy face on? thank goodness today is payday, my change purse is looking mighty slim..almost lunch hour, was going to Michaels and SXCargo but it's snowing and blowing, might stay closer to home...
That flu virus sure does take a lot out of you..how much has Ms. Cheerful lost?
I'm almost finished with my "Downy" quilt! Just have to selfbind it and quilt it. I'll try to post a pic when I get done, not today, I play bingo this afternoon!
I had $6.13 in change in my change purse, so I got a taco truck burrito for lunch! They didn't have my Carne Asada so I got pollo, was bland and blah, and I'm still hungry. I'll have some cereal in a while.
I have a hair appt tomorrow at 5pm, I am so excited!
LOL!!!!
I like to go and get my hair done, it always makes me feel better!
I haven't had my hair done since before Thanksgiving, so it's going to feel really good!
I'm thinking about doing a dirty blond this time instead of the brown... or maybe a light brown. I want it to look natural no matter what color I pick.
Betty....................
Crissyr.................
We are doing fine.........
Tubby
Nothing like getting your hair done..makes you feel almost human...
Look forward to seeing your blanket Audrey..good luck at Bingo..may you come home a winner...I play t.v. bingo on Tuesday nights..jackpot $2,600. but never seem to win, just come close and get my adrenaline going...
Did all I had on my 'to do' list, braved the storm and icy roads..did talk to Paul and he said they weren't calling for bad weather tomorrow in our region (wonder what channel he listens to) but said as a precaution then perhaps change it over...what to do/what to do????
Linda Kay - the gold coin (loonie) has a value of $1.00
silver and gold coin (toonie) has a value of $2.00
Wow, those are different, so you don't have paper dollar bills?
Good luck Crissy with the bingo, hope you hit the jackpot!
No Linda Kay, just coins...took a bit of getting used to but now don't even miss the bills...
Got my home message system changed to reflect that of the office..storming like cracy .. cross your fingers that you can't see outside between the hours of 7am - 10am tomorrow morning..just enough for me to stay home..need a snow day..lol then I can really play!
Hello To All;
Betty - You stay warm! I certainly can't feel sorry for our little freezes...with you guys putting up with the weather you put up with! But I do think my marigolds....etc...are okay so far... it might get down to 29 tonight....but I think I read they can go as far as 20 degrees and be okay.... I'll live & learn either way...
I talked to DH's Dad about it last week....He is ...prob about 85...I figured he knew when to plant... He said the "Full Moon near Good Friday"....so I started googling planting and moon phases and I'm getting some conflicting answers...so if anyone has any advice / thoughts / legends to share...please do !
Hello Judy! What a long trip back & forth but so glad you got to meet some DG friends... maybe I need to get in touch with a few in my area. That would be fun ! There was some kind of get together last year....they ended up cancelling it...
I LOVE Cracker Barrell's also ! We went to the one in Tallahassee growing up ...on way to visiting Grandparents... when I moved to Lousiana there weren't any...but they have gas stations called "Cracker Barrell" so everyone would look at me funny when I would rave about eating at Cracker Barrell !!!
Liz - so sorry they put you guys through that drama...but I'm SO glad it turned out right. People go so crazy when they think they can get someone's inheritance. I never would have thought my own sis would have acted as she did....
Hey Jeanine - are you stopping by Disneyworld on your way to the Key's? If so - I'm full of advice! LOL!!! I'm planning my May visit there with DS (Graduation Celebration) now...
Well - I'm popping off for a bit...will try to check in tonight if not sooner...
Hugs,
Mary
I don't play Bingo, it's illegal here in AR and there's nothing on TV to play :(
http://www.almanac.com/gardening/planting-dates/LA/Baton%20Rouge
This is just for veggies, they don't list moon phases for flowers for some reason.
Go to the farmers almanac, type in your area code, and see what they say for planting seeds! They are usually pretty close!
We each bring a $ gift, and whoever Bingo's picks one. We've decided it's more fun to wrap them, even in newspaper! I didn't Bingo once!
WOW Linda Kay! That's Awesome! I'll check it out ! Thanks for the website !!!
We're having a tough night in the household. I found out DS-almost-18...a Senior in High School was failing English due to some homework not turned in.... He can't fail English...or he won't graduate...so I took away his Gym membership and....
worse....
his car keys....
(Teacher says he can bring his grade up...she is willing to work with him...just he would rather have a tantrum then do the work)
He is out in the backyard right now ...it sounds like he is breaking everything in sight.... but I'm standing FIRM! NOT going there... TOUGH LOVE!
It's about time...
I keep reminding myself...as MUCH as I LOVE and LOVED my mother.... I do think I hated her my Senior year...so it's gonna be OKAY....He will love me again one day.
So anyone who has dealt with Tough Love....please help me keep strong...
HUGS,
Mary
((((((((((((((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))) to you Mary
senior year was a DOOZY with all of my boys, one way or another....
I used to say "you want to play??? you got to pay!! and your pay is to do the school work required, I am not asking for A's, but I am telling you you got to make some effort!!"
do the work your supposed to do...then you get play time (car keys, etc...)
and YES it will be ok after a while...I got one now tells me I should have been tougher!!!
Morning all..
OH Mary, hard enough when you only have one teen going through those years but you've got a house full then add in step children etc. wow you've got quite a time on your hands, stay strong, you ARE doing the right thing..have seen many a parent who waver thinking they are too hard and regret in all through the years...hugs to you my friend..
Well Audrey, that's a fun way to have a bingo..sorry you didn't win though?
Thunder, how many children do you have, all grown now?
Well I'm sitting patiently waiting for a call to see if I stay in my jammies today..bench waiting to be painted, a few swap blocks to make then I could play with my quilt, afghan and quilt bag..can't you see what a wonderful day I'd have..bitting my nails here....bad storm but now right in my region although it's blowing hard and drifting..let's hope Paul gets up on the right side of the bed this morning..imagine if I do get a call it will be around 7..so off to get ready just incase I have to make the ride in...
Yesterday morning I took photo of my squirrel..photo is dark but if you look on the bench you'll see Riley eyeing him up...
Be back with my travel saga ..either from here or work..
Hope you are safe out of storms way..this morning they are calling it snowcane (don't have hurricanes) so best they can describe...lol
Guess who doesn't have a happy face on and is at work?
Morning all - just a qucik follow-up to let you know everything went fine yesterday and my colon is beautiful! I get to go another 5 years before the next! Hopefully, before that, they will invent something other then 4 liters of liquid to drink before the procedure!
I had two boys I went through that stage with, and it was not easy, lots of deep breaths, and LOTS of tough love for sure. It is for thier own good, they just don't see that yet! They will thank you in about 10 years!
Sending you some hugs, and thoughts and prayers.
I would also tell him, for everything he breaks is another day of grounding!
I hater that drink, but last time I did nmine, I was told to go to Wal mart, get the kit myself, and it was only one glass full, that was it, one the night before, and one two hours before my procedure that morning.
Big Big hugs Mary, I KNOW I hated my mom Senior year. Being a teenager is a very hard time in life, so many changes and all, be strong Mary, he may be 18 but still in high school.
Ms. Cheerful is back and not wanting to touch anything, she's so lame, if she's contagious just her being here will get us all sick.
