Thought some of you might be having difficulties downloading so moving us to this almost spring room...
Coffee is on but you'll have to bring the donuts, no sweets in this house since I've started this diet but I can enjoy seeing those you bring!
We've moved from here:

Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Sharon called, her American Eskimo dog had 6 pups..5 males and 1 female..she was a little disappointed with that..wanted more females so she could pick another 'best of breed' show dog..who knows, the one female just might be it..all and all she's glad the birthing part is over...think she said all but one had homes...
AnnMarie, those little ones sure do grow up quickly..love it when the start to gab and you have to figure out what they are so trying to tell you in their own words...no more quiet for you grandma!
Best I get moving..no plans except to play at crafts but that could change..
Enjoy your day everyone...
Congrats on the new puppys! I bet hey are so cute, all the fuzzy fur and all?
Enjoy your crafting day, best you take it easy after your busy outing yesterday. Looked like a lot of fun.
Anjl, those little ones are so cute when they are starting to talk. My five year old still says a few baby words every now and then.
Betcha it would be too hot here for an American Eskimo dog . . .
I have a siberian husky, here in Del Rio, and he loves to go soak in the sun, on the hottest days of summer!
Nichole, several of her dogs have homes in lower states..can't wait for her to send me photo..
LindaKay, you can't get much more relaxed than I am today..Suzanne just dropped by for a few minutes, off to get her grandaughter for the day, after my showing her flannel in the washer being dye set, material on one table to the carry all bag, upstairs couch full of crochet blocks, my sitting pinning the edge to the watercolor lap quilt and then on the other table all my cuttings for the tablecloth..lol..her only words were as she dropped off a bag of wool and afghan 1/4 done in ripple crochet for me to finish..she started it in 1992, how do I know that, there was a bill in the bag..her words 'will it ever come that I can just sit and enjoy my day like you do'
Here I was in my jammies, going to make an excuse but when she got here she was dressed in her jammies..both vowing not to get out of them..
It so sunny outside, snow is melting..take a 5 minutes break here and there, cleaning front deck of Christmas tree and christmas wrapped boxed..the 4' santa between the trees frozen in snow just might make it to the back shed by nightfall..
Have the front door open, just the screen door closed so the sunshine is beaming through..so much light..will enjoy hand sewing quilt edge while watching a movie...
Spaghetti simmering, bread rolls raising and all is well in my world...could it possibly get any better...
Already know the 'best of today'
Mom called this morning and was gabbing on about Sharon and the new pups etc. - found that odd because they haven't been talking for several months..then it dawned on me, asked mom 'did you call Sharon' and she said yes, told her I was proud of her, life is much too short to have words and not talk...glad she took the initiative...
Also got a call from Bernie...
He's been working so hard in his house and because Charlene only works until 2 this aft. and has Monday and Tuesday off they are heading to Buffalo..wanted me to tell him where all my shopping spots are..lol...
So 2 nice things, bet there is a 3rd yet to come...
So what do you have planned for today?
I am working on the quilt squares for the swap. I am having a hard problem selecting the batik fabric. I have lots of nice colors, but none of them pop, they all blend too much, so maybe back online to find more?
Sounds like you will be busy today, and staying in your jammies sounds nice.
What a wonderful time you have been having!!
Wish we would have had Huts for Ice fishing when we lived in Alaska.
Did nothing but sleep yesterday....had an awful headache...the first in years.
Watching Curling matches....later need to see if mom wants to go out, or if I can borrow her car, am much over due for grocery shopping.
Another day of Beautiful Sunshine....rain is due to return on Tuesday.
Oh, would love to see Sharon's pups!!
Hope you all are having a great afternoon, will check back later.
AnnMarie that is too cute!! I bet they are tiring but oh what a joy with him saying words now instead of babble!
It has to be a new law, and $20.00 ticket??? How retarded!! Why have the law at all if it's not going to be enforced anymore than that? Police aren't going to waist their time!
Ooo close flash of lightning! Yes it's storming here, all day long! I'm waiting for my pie dough to thaw and I'm going to make a chocolate pie, got to use this stuff or it's going to be no good and I'll have to throw it away.
Yay Betty!! Too bad not more females though! Diana next door's rottie is pregnant with Rotties! It's from her first heat, which they were trying to avoid but didn't know she was in heat in time. Hopefully everything will work out ok for them.
Good for your mom!
Guess I need to get off of this, it's as dark as night in this room.
Chocolate Pie!! One of my favorites!! Next to Lemon Pie!!
Morning..
Trisha, sorry to hear about the headache, nothing worse! I used to think mine came from drastic changes in weather..did you get out shopping with your mom? How's Laura, feeling much better I'm sure now that the teeth have been removed..
LindaKay, how did you make out with the squares, finally fine a color that zappes..maybe we're not brave enough to put that off the wall color in them..I'm always for soft, quiet colors and that's ok for me..
Crissy you are right about police not wasting their time..have 2 friends who are Ontario Provincial Police, was talking to Martin the other day..our speed here on the hwys is 100kl. and he said that they have a standing ticket method, unless you are weaving in and out of traffic, creating a danger, that it's safe to do 119 kl. and almost never get a ticket because there is always the next guy who is doing 120-140 and those are the ones they want to ticket..
Hope the storm didn't take your power...
Trisha, I make a mean lemon merangue pie..always have to make extra so the boys can take them home..
Almost hate having to go to work today, sooo tempted to call in sick but I'd better not do that...so am moving slowly..
Had 4 projects in mind, got 2 done ..finished the lap quilt and the afghan using up all leftover wool from the previous 4 I'd done..turned out ok..I'll find a box, wrap it up and near Christmas I can put a name tag on it..Suzanne said yesterday at the rate I'm going I'll have all my Christmas done by July..lol..
Looks cold outside..
Copied my message fron sewing.......
Beautiful job Betty. They are so pretty. I love the way your watercolor came out. It looks so soft and feminine.
I had such a good time Sat quilting all day with old friends. Since it was a bit of a travel (50 miles) I only took handwork with me to finish up a couple projects. I finished all my towels and they are ready to be mailed mid/late March. I also finished up two more table mats. We had a great time, had wonderful food and then an evening of hilarious cards. It surely did me the world of good.
When I got home yesterday, Norm had a surprise for me. He had been on line with a person whose Grandmother had run a fabric shop and was getting rid of material. Norm bought five lots of it!! The smallest piece is about 1/2 yard and some pieces are three yds or better. Everything from solids to florals to prints to kids. I'm estimating about 100 yds of material for $80.00!!!!!! I'll try to get pictures...
Norm starts his training program today. Finally after being unemployed for over a year, they approved him for training. He had applied about 9 months ago after his second operation and it has taken all this time!! Oh well, he is on his way now..
Must get busy and sort all my treasure. BBL...
Betty, those are all so pretty, would love to see a close up of the lap quilt?
Barb, nice to hear that hubby got a job!
And what a great deal on the fabric, can you share the person or website he got it from?
Hi LK
Sure wish it was a job - it's training in computers through the unemployment office. When he is done he will be certified in something (I'm clueless about it) and then hopefully he will be able to get a job. His old job would have been too demanding on him after the surgeries he has had but this won't.
The person who sold the fabric is here in New England and I'm sorry but now it's gone. She was selling off what was left of her Grandmother's fabric. I hope to post a picture soon.
Morning, are you girls sending me your snow..thanks but no thanks..suppose to start later today and last the entire week..that's what happens when you start to brag that you've great weather...
Barb, nothing nicer than to spend time with friends..sounds as though you got a lot accomplished..you better give Norm a hug and a kiss for that buy...lucky you..now you'll really have to be motivated to use it all up..guess she'll be shipping it out shortly, can't wait to see the fabrics..will some be vintage? oooh to be married to a schoolboy..aren't you special - all kidding aside sure hope once he gets certification there will be a job waiting for him..does this type of training involve payment of any kind..here once your unemployment runs out, if you take a gmt. sponsored re-training program they pay almost same as what they where getting through U.I.C.
Barb, I'll have to share this multi bag pattern..read and re-read the directions, easy to do..drats, didn't have fusible fleece or I'd probably have had one made..it's geared to use up fat quarters..imagine that...not sure with it being stormy every day if I'll get to Fabricland before the weekend...
I would love the bag pattern. I hope to have some of those made for this fair too. And do I now have fabric!!!!!!
Yes, Betty, Norm will continue to get his unemployment while he goes to school. We just wish it hadn't taken so long for this to get started. BUT it's happening now and we are very grateful..
I wish Dave would go for the training in something he really enjoys.
Crissy, maybe he just needs a bit more time to process his being unemployed..has he shown interest in a different field?
Barb, girlfriend Diane just called, think we will get together on Sunday and make a couple of bag providing that is her son hasn't planned on visiting..told her I'd pick up the fusible and she could bring along fabric..omg..said she'd almost given up on sewing a few years ago, donated it all and now has very little..she just finished a rag quilt type jacket for herself, working on wolf quilt for her DIL for Christmas..we usually paint together all the time, go to Carol's together for lessons, am sooo glad we've both returned to sewing...
Betty he's so flighty I don't think he knows what he's thinking from one moment to the next.
You would think this major companies would have a program to work with those they've laid of, to make the transition a little easier..the stress of waiting to see if you are one to be layed off, then being unemployed and then the worry of using up U.I.C. - must be traumatic Crissy!
Ohhh thought I'd share
Oh Betty, those little babies are so cute! Thanks for sharing.
Betty, beautiful lap quilt!
Betty outside of this attitude I'm getting from him it's not that big of a deal, yet. Now they put the payments on a debit card from your bank, but the problem I'm having is getting this debit card attached to the checking account so I can transfer the funds to the checking account for bill paying and what not, otherwise I'm going to have to figure out how to divide everything up fairly, otherwise Dave's going to throw a fit telling me that's his money and not mine and what-not, went through that before too. I just don't understand why he's being so darn difficult. He told me if he got laid off it would be alright because the house needs his attention for tree cutting and yard cleanup and that sort of stuff, which it does. I didn't think I would get this big show attitude and I'm really getting tired of it and don't know what to do.
We got this debit card in the mail on Friday. I told him when I opened it that he's going to have to activate this card in order to get paid, he just said OOKKAAYYY!!! I ended up doing it myself last night at 10pm. I told him he got paid, there was $420.00 in it, he instantly got mad and asked, "Well, why is there only $420.00 instead of $441.00???" I said, "I don't know honey." He said, "Well WHY don't YOU know???" Because it's not my unemployment!! Good Grief!! Then I wonder why I want to contact old friends, let's see here... LOL
LOOOOOK at the puppies!!!!
puppies adorable, afghan and lap top almost equally adorable.....^_^
that yellow thing is back in the sky!!!! but it is very windy....no snow..or rain yet so I won't complain!!!
Jeannine, how are you sweetie..been missing you! How's the family?
Guess you've been getting our hard winter haven't you?
No yellow thing in our sky, saying we won't see it for the next 7 or 8 days..major part of the storm will hit the city rather than up here in the north..
Crissy, my heart breaks for you..hard enough to get along in this world let alone be fighting at home every day..you need a hug..feel it?
AAAAWWWWWW I feel it big time! Thank you Betty!!!! We're not having fights or anything, he's just being retarded and it's annoying. Like I've said, he used to be on top of everything, now it's like, "I don't care because you'll take care of it." No I won't! I cannot stand a co-dependent man! LOL
Crissy - what do you mean by a co-dependent man? I'm a bit confused here. Norm has been on unemployment for over 14 months and I've never heard that term.. Enlighten me please?
A man who refuses to think for himself and wants someone else to do all the thinking for him. Maybe I'm using the wrong word LOL
I'm not talking about him being on unemployment, it's not his fault he got laid off. I'm talking about him not taking care of any of his stuff pertaining to it because it's easier for me to take care of it. He's the one not working and is perfectly capable of taking care of himself. I don't mind helping out but I am not going to babysit.

Got ya... I don't blame you for that. Let him make his own mistakes and you'll be surprised how quick he will want to learn...Especially if it means he misses a week of benefits!!!!!
I'm sending big (((((((hugs))))) too. We sure do all need them now and then...
AAAWWWWWW That felt good, thanks Barb! He's already missed 3 weeks of benefits and had to go back in and redo it all. Now he doesn't want to take care of the payments coming in. So I called and activated his card last night, used a pin # I would remember, and put the card in my wallet. All I need to do is get it lined up with the bank so I can transfer funds from the card to the checking account and he'll never need this card, if I can do that. If he's not wanting to do it I'll take over, then he'll complain about that but TOOOOO BAAAD!!
Crissy I can see you steaming from here..but that's ok..always nice to have a friend to vent with..how's your mom doing Crissy?
Thank heavens for sisters eh? I don't know what I would have done this past year without all of you.....
It's just frustrating. Oh fooey she doesn't know. One days good in a way that she can do a tiny bit of dusting or cook dinner or something, then the next day she can't do anything at all. She now says the left side is bothering her, before she had the nerve cut on the right side the left side didn't hurt at all.
I'm also frustrated with this low paying job of mine. Like it wasn't low enough to begin with, now I'm losing $400.00 a month because of medical insurance. I bring home less now than I did before my $2.50 raise. Plus our snow day last Monday ended up being a regular work day, even though it was plastered all over the news that it was extremely dangerous to drive anywhere and to stay home unless you absolutely had to go out. Usually it's taken from sick leave, but this time they wanted it to be taken from Vacation time, so I worked myself up to 51 hours of vacation pay, now down to 43 because of that snow day, which anyone who commutes got screwed. I feel like I'm going backwards in this job too. And I got a degree in IT so I can sit here and do bank statements, right???? Something's going to have to change here, I'm way too frustrated with it all! :p
I'm just glad you have this place to come to to vent. Far better you vent to us than others. Never know who is watching or listening. But our shoulders are wide and our backs are strong and we'll help any way we can...(((((hugs)))))
{{[[crissy}} hugs are always nice :)
Betty those puppies are so adorable! I'd try to lay claim to one of them, but I dont think my Sheldon would approve another puppy LOL !
Just stopping in to wave hi on my way to the kitchen to find something to feed DH :)
I'd love to have a puppy, but that's a bit of a drive! (assuming, of course, that they are up there close to you, Betty)
Lurking!
Hugs to All -
Crissy - I feel for ya! Great Advice BEV! Hugs Anjl & Betty.....
Saturday I planted: Marigolds, Verbena, Parsley, and Petunias. Might be a mistake...but I'm just SO TIRED of looking at the DEAD back yard. Worst FREEZE in years....
HUGS,
Mary
It's snowing AGAIN!!! We are expecting 8-15 inches between today and tomorrow. I'm ready to go find a cave somewhere. No wonder one of my favorite colors is green!!!
