New room ladies, and Jaye's request.

Jaye, I wish I had a quilt shop close by, the nearest one is in San Antonio, 160 miles! Some day when I hit the lotto, I will have my own quilt shop! Wonder how much it would take to open a shop?

I just got this from my brother in law. Guess these things never end? If you get an email like this, don't click on the attachment. It is bogus!

Yep I've seen that one

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Here's a good chuckle before you all head to bed:

Promise this will give you a laugh...a little reality shock maybe, too.

"$5.37." That's what the kid behind the counter at Taco Bell said to me. I dug into my pocket and pulled out some lint and two dimes and something that used to be a Jolly Rancher. Having already handed the kid a five-spot, I started to head back out to the truck to grab some change when the kid with the Emo hairdo said the harshest thing anyone has ever said to me. He said, "It's OK. I'll just give you the senior citizen discount."

I turned to see who he was talking to and then heard the sound of change hitting the counter in front of me. "Only $4.68" he said cheerfully. I stood there stupefied. I am 48, not even 50 yet, a mere child! Senior citizen?

I took my burrito and walked out to the truck wondering what was wrong with Emo. Was he blind? As I sat in the truck, my blood began to boil.
Old? Me?

I'll show him, I thought. I opened the door and headed back inside. I strode to the counter, and there he was waiting with a smile.

Before I could say a word, he held up something and jingled it in front of me, like I could be that easily distracted! What am I now? A toddler?

"Dude! Can't get too far without your car keys, eh?" I stared with utter disdain at the keys. I began to rationalize in my mind. "Leaving keys behind hardly makes a man elderly! It could happen to anyone!"

I turned and headed back to the truck. I slipped the key into the ignition, but it wouldn't turn. What now? I checked my keys and tried another. Still nothing. That's when I noticed the purple beads hanging from my rearview mirror. I had no purple beads hanging from my rearview mirror.

Then, a few other objects came into focus. The car seat in the back seat. Happy Meal toys spread all over the floorboard. A partially eaten doughnut on the dashboard.

Faster than you can say ginkgo biloba, I flew out of the alien vehicle. Moments later I was speeding out of the parking lot, relieved to finally be leaving this nightmarish stop in my life. That is when I felt it, deep in the bowels of my stomach: hunger! My stomach growled and churned, and I reached to grab my burrito, only it was nowhere to be found.

I swung the truck around, gathered my courage, and strode back into the restaurant one final time. There Emo stood, draped in youth and black nail polish. All I could think was, "What is the world coming to?" All I could say was, "Did I leave my food and drink in here?" At this point I was ready to ask a Boy Scout to help me back to my vehicle, and then go straight home and apply for Social Security benefits..

Emo had no clue. I walked back out to the truck, and suddenly a young lad came up and tugged on my jeans to get my attention. He was holding up a drink and a bag. His mother explained, "I think you left this in my truck by mistake." I took the food and drink from the little boy and sheepishly apologized.

She offered these kind words: "It's OK. My grandfather does stuff like this all the time."

All of this is to explain how I got a ticket doing 85 in a 40. Yes, I was racing some punk kid in a Toyota Prius.. And no, I told the officer, I'm not too old to be driving this fast.

As I walked in the front door, my wife met me halfway down the hall. I handed her a bag of cold food and a $300 speeding ticket. I promptly sat in my rocking chair and covered up my legs with a blanky.

The good news was I had successfully found my way home.

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today:

The people who are starting college this fall were born in 1991.

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

The CD was introduced two years before they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been microwaved.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: 'Where's the Beef?', 'I'd walk a mile for a Camel', or 'de plane, Boss, de plane'.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Pass this on to the other old fogies on your list.

Notice the larger type?

That's for those of us who have trouble reading.

P.S.. Save the earth... It's the only planet with chocolate.

Good morning.
Thanks for breakfast Kimmie! Yes, Sistah Judy's SOOOO excited about meeting y'all. I told her to try not to squeeze you all to death with her giant armwraps!! Lolol!!!
Easiest thing for you to do will be getting those ready made appetizers in the freezer section!! Just warm up and serve!
A 3 way calling is a grand idea!

LK, hope your trip goes well today. Observe the speed limit driving home, at our age, we tend to be absent minded ;)

Bon, to deactivate FB, means to disable your account. Used to be able to do it on Settings and it doesn't delete it, but hold your info, until you reactivate it.
But.... Arrrrrrrrrgggghh.. went into FB last night and discovered the Privacy Settings' gone!!

Thunder a couple years back when FB was deluged by malware, I wasn't affected neither. Never had problem until recently. Figured got to be an app.

Donna.. hope you're doing fine. Haven't seen you here in a few.. you got to be busy.

Have a wonderful day ladies.. I'm off to the other building to set up breakfast and then do my morning chores.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I've never had a problem with FB either. I don't do the apps, I really could care less.

Privacy settings are under "Account" in the upper right corner.

Cindy LOL I do feel old after reading that! Yikes!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

wow - never thought to disable FB, but there's a thought!!!
I'd be able to get some of my "real" life back ^_^
I wonder - does it "freeze" your farms, too?

I'd be able to do some quilting!! lol

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I quit doing the games a few months ago, now I'm having fun tagging everyone else's pictures! LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan!!! I've quit FB for a year, until my family begged me to 'reconnect'... why oh why do I listen to them??
I truly need to prioritize...

You're bad Crissy. I was even tagged in a cartoon.. not too pleasant there :(

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

What!?! LOL I'm only tagging my friends pictures!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh My Sistahas,

I hate to bring sadness here, but I really need to talk to someone. I told you all a few days ago the my daughter's ex father-in -law has tumors on his lungs. He has lost 50 pounds, is in lots of pain and won't eat. His doctor wants to treat him, but first they need to do a biopsy to see what kind and what stage, and also a PET scan to see if there is more. He does not want any treatment of any kind. Says he is at peace with it. But the thing that is hurting me so much is that my grandson does not know yet. They may be telling him tonight when they go to see Bob (FIL). But the saddess thing is, tomorrow is my grandson's 15th b-day, and he is really close to his grandpa. I am so affaid of how this is going to affect him and his dad.

This here is a pix of Bob when he married my husband and I. He was so happy that day to marry us.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone, I am back, and trying to catch up with the threads.

Cindy so sorry to hear about Bob, sending lots of thoughts and prayers for him and family. Nice picture!

Kim, you all better be good this week-end, or is it going to be what happens a Kim's stays at Kims? LOL!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, Kel's dad was at stage 4, plus the stroke. He is now 92* cancer free. Murdock wanted to live and his faith is strong. With Kel constantly encouraging him helps too.
As for your grandson, I pray that he has the strength to accept the news. Who knows, maybe he'll be the one to change Bob's mind.

So.. any changes LK? Did the doctor gives you the go ahead to lift or carry anything heavier than 10 pounds?
Don't you wish we could just crash in on Kimmie's party!!

Ooops.. got to go..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My wight lifing limit is still 8 pounds, nothing heavier than a gallon of milk! Because my back injury was on the job, it is a workers Comp case, and I have to see the doc, at least every 4 months, or workers comp will drop it like a hotcake!
Oh I wish we could be a fly on the wall at Kims party! Maybe we can sneak in and set a camera somewhere? LOL!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

And stick to that 8 pounds LK.
I know enough about workers' comp. and their henious ways NOT to pay you. Ex was injured on the job too, and he felt sure he was being watched...

MIL had called when I was posting the previous post. FIL fell again. His blood platelet count got to be low again, leaving him weak.
Sistah Judy.. you are so right... Kel's an angel.

So, gonna bid you all a good night. See you in the morning.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, sending out more prayers for Murdock1 Sure hope heis doing ok, and noting injured to serious? Sending gentle hugs too.

Morning everyone. Coffee is on, and we have hot breakfast tacos today. potato, egg and bacon, with home made pico if you want.

LK

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL LK what a great idea!!

Cindy I'm so sorry to hear about ex-FIL. One of my mom's husband's relatives is going through something like that too I guess. She told me last night that he had brain tumors that they removed about a year ago and he refused to stay in the hospital until he was well enough to go home, so they had to sedate him to keep him there. Well, he just had some tumors or something removed from his bladder and right when he was coherent enough he took his catheter out himself and walked out of the hospital! The surgery was two days ago and now he's having kidney failure and is saying that he just wants to die, that he's old and deaf and in ill health and doesn't care anymore, and that he's just ready to go. What do you do, you know?

Pizza day here at work!! It's my boss Jeff's birthday today!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Jeff!

I think I would just want to go home to be with the Lord also. it is a hard decision, and I say that now, but when the time comes, who knows what I will decide?
Prayers to all!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

FIL lost his balance and fell. He walks with the help of a walker, but still not too confident yet. With the chemo his taking, it's taking a toll on whatever strength he has left. And then zapped his red blood platelets.. just making him more weak.

Kel thank you all for the prayers.

Crissy, if I'm in a vegetative state, certainly, I'd be wanting Kel NOT to keep me alive artificially.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Absolutely not, I wouldn't want to live in that state either. No Way Jose!

I had a great uncle who passed away maybe a year ago, he was in his mid 80's, completely blind, almost completely deaf but could hear just good enough to talk on the phone if it had one of those sound blasters on it with the volume turned all the way up, had heart problems, and he was fighting prostate cancer for 25 years that had gone into his bladder and he was bleeding internally big time from somewhere and they couldn't find where, and he was just done with it. When he was in the hospital the last time my mom was on the phone with him and he told her his grim outcome, they told him he probably didn't have another 24 hours. My mom held back tears and told him that she was very very sad to hear the news, and that would probably be the last time she would ever talk to him again. He told her, "Connie, DON'T be sad. I'm 87 years old, I'm blind, almost deaf, have cancer and heart problems, in so much pain I can't stand to wake up everyday, I can't remember my own name, nor can I live alone or take care of myself. I have lived my life exactly the way I wanted to with absolutely no regrets, not many people can say that. This is not living, this is existing, for what? I have no wife or ex-wives, no children or grandchildren to worry about, plus my last living brother (another great uncle Blake) wants to move to Arizona and he can't as long as I'm here. Just remember that and be happy for me that I did as good as I did with what I wanted to do with myself, don't cry for me or have a funeral." Apparently he passed away just 15 minutes after he got off the phone with my mom, almost like he was waiting to talk to her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! That is touching! Very well said too!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Prayers being said for Kel & Murdock, Jaye ..........

Crissy - It's so sad when loved ones are hurting, but when they're ready to "go" we have to let them - that's really all that can be said about it, I feel. Goodness, I know that sounds rather final, and heartless, but it's so true.
We can be the Lord's stewards, but we can't decide when He calls his children home.

btw - I get my "appliance" in my mouth on Monday morning.... guess I'm going to be "talking funny" for 2-3 days... lol
I'm getting my teeth cleaned at the same time, too, so it will be 2 hours in the dentist's chair they tell me. I'm actually looking forward to it - it will be a different experience, that's for sure ^_^

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wonder if Susan_Chi and Kimmie are having a gab fest?

Susan, what do you mean talk funny? I think all Canadians do, don't they?? Wait.. that's me... Asian Cajun!!!
Sistah.. you'll still have the sweetest voice on the planet ;)

Good night sistahs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

OK for now we are off talk to you latter
Hugs Flaming Kim

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't have too much fun! If you do, you need to share it with us?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow, I'm jealous....wish I could be there for the party! Know you're having a wonderful time....wish you all could make it to my house in June. I know you'll be working, Kim, and I think Judy is planning on coming. Maybe Susan can make it back this way, too.

I've been enjoying the sunshine of yesterday and a few peeks this morning, but other than that, I've been hibernating. I did go to the Dr. on Thursday and my blood pressure was 102/70. I guess that's why I've been feeling a little dizzy in the evenings if I get up too fast. Yesterday at exercise I got a little dizzy, too, so today I only took half my BP med. I've been trying to avoid sugar for the past couple of weeks and it's done amazing things for my appetite. Well, I've been taking acai berry and some gymnema, too and I think that's helping also. I've been taking my measurements every Friday and I've lost over two inches. Bertie and I have been walking a lot as well as our two times a week exercise. If warmer weather would get here and snow would go away, I could work off some fat in the garden! I've even been dreaming about snow melting.... :o)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning!
Kimmie, you never know.. Judy might just pop up.. but if she does, that an hour and a half drive might be a 3 hour drive.
Hi Susan_Chi!

Hey LK, you need to make plans to be at Cookie's!

Cookie, take care of yourself. Depriving yourself of sugar for the first few days can also make you irritable. But it's good for your overall health and especially us women. If that's what you're planning to do, to lose more... it's good you got a walking partner.
Taking a weight loss challenge by yourself can be a very daunting task.

Sis Kathy says walking helps her back some.

Off to an apron show today at a museum. May stop at a fabric store and get more batting.

You all stay warm and have a beautiful Saturday!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,
Last night we went for Chinese food for DGS 15th b-day. And Bob joined us but he did not eat. He looked good except for sooooooo thin.

Well, it is over between Steve and I for good. I gave him a second chance and it is not going to work. He will never have time for me. I really needed to talk with him the other day and promised that he would make time for me and I never heard from him. He will always put his "friends" before me and that hurt. So I told him we finished and I am moving on.

Going to work on some sewing and other things

Have a Great Day Ladies

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cindy, at least he went with you, that is a good sign?

I am trying to make it to Cookies, but can't promise. Right now we are talking about Dad going to stay with my Brother in Washington, sometime in May, just not for sure when. If it is early enough, I just may make it to Cookies! Are there motels close, and rental cars?
Jaye, you try to get pictures at the apron show today. I bet they have some pretties there?
Joyce you need to take care with the blood pressure, that can be a tricky thing to controll?
Well, I am off for the day, need to get some dusting done, and some laundry!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Afternoon everyone. There is this huge bright yellow thing in the sky--anyone know what it is? LOL Beautiful day outside and hopefully I am going to get a few plants in my planters. I want some pansies and petunias so will make a quick trip into town to see what I can find.

Long day yesterday but a very productive one so all was not lost.

Off to the shower.............
