Victor's photos make me want to buy each and every plant. That cotinus is wonderful.

Your dahlia is lovely, WC. They're one family of plants that look as good at the end of a 90 degree day as at the start.

Great container ge.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks!

Now that one does not look like serviceberry to me, bop.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I like the color harmony this plant has with itself.

Beautiful pirl, im smitten.

Thomaston, CT

That's a very pretty, delph, Pirl, & Victor, Grace is so delicate looking. Here is a delph that bloomed in Nov. after I had transplanted it---don't know if it has survived the winter.

Beauty, Pirl!

Great blue, Robin.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nice blue, hopefully it did survive Robin.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have very spotty success with them returning.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I was kind of ticked going to the party store.. no 75th stuff at all.. we bought a generic banner that you can stick the year on with decals.. and some over the hill signs.. most of everything stops at 60.. no 75 balloons... only can get a 7 & 5 but they wanted $10.00 each balloon.. yikes

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - surprised to hear that. Don't remember what we did when dad was 75. I know we had a party but don't remember the decorations.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I even looked on oriental trading.. nothing.. googled.. found some things.. but nothing worth over nighting

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Do you have a picture of him as a baby that you could enlarge to poster size and have the guests sign?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

So many pretty pics! I've missed about 2 whole threads, just about I gotta catch up!

I have been depressed and have not felt like doing much on the computer, or much of anything else lately. I think I'm starting to come out of it now, though. The winter blues, mostly, and finanial woes. I placed an order yesterday, though, with Seneca Hill after hearing some of you guys say how good they were. I had to take a peek, and when I found out I don't have to pay till shortly before the order ships, well, then I had to place an order. LOL! When I get a chance I'll post what I've ordered over on the 'What have you ordered for 2010' thread.

Hey, Victor, you never mentioned on this thread that it's only supposed to be one photo per day, so does that mean I can post more than one? LOL! Well, that's ok, I'll do like JoAnn and post more than one pic a day by posting a collage. Ha! Anyhow, I know we all know it's only one pic a day, but newbies won't. Love your close-up shot of the WL, btw, posted on the 18th. Great angle!

Marilyn, I use a product on lily beetles called Monterey Garden Insect Spray. It's an organic control. I spray it as soon as I see any signs of beetles, the little buggers. It works by speeding up the metabolism of the insects chewing on the plants, therefore killing them. It does not kill bees and other insects that don't chew. It won't kill sucking insects. Anyhow, it worked really well for me last year, and it's a great product to use if you want to avoid toxic chemicals.

Bebop2, what kind of flowering crab is that pic that you posted on the 15th, towards the top of the thread? Sure is pretty. That's a cute one you did of the 2 birds. Love your parrot tulips pic, too. I can't wait to see JoAnn's rendition of it. I'm sure it'll be great. Your neighbor's apple orchard in bloom looks great. I love the iris pic you posted yesterday. Gorgeous!

Pirl, I love your curly iron piece and what you did with the bottom of it. Nice! I love getting old things like that. And that's a great stand of variegated Solomon's Seal. Congrats on your bloom of the day! How do you get to have bloom of the day? Do they pick randomly from the postings on the threads or do you have to be nominated by someone? That delph from today is gorgeous!

Allison, congrats on your BOTD pic, too!

Your white astilbe shot is great, Bill. What a fantastic grouping!

I have that Jolly Bee geranium, and it's really a nice one. It is supposedly fragrant, but mine is not, and I have a friend who has one, and she says hers isn't fragrant, either.

Oh, Celeste, I love, love, love that Pixie dianthus. So pretty! That one's a cheddar pink, and I think they do better than just regular dianthus with larger flowers. For me they do better, anyhow. That Little Rainbow DL is such a pretty, soft color. Love the blending in it of soft pink and soft yellow.

Nice DL seedling, Weedy. I hybridize, too.

Hey, JoAnn, glad to know I'm not the only one who gets Allison and Celeste mixed up. LOL!

that is a great idea Pirl.. now only if my mom will part with a photo.. she really doesn't think I will give them back... but I actually put my sister on it.. they live in the same house

thank you Karen... and you can mix us up anytime

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Karen - There are a few people in charge of BOTD but I'm not sure exactly how it works. I'm guessing they select from Plant Files but I could be wrong.

The Polygonatum was just the right plant in the right place but it took the second move to find the right place.

My Jolly Bee doesn't have any scent either. It's always good to know I have company on things like that!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Now they have designated people who get to choose the BOTD's for a given month. This month it is Sue (Calif_Sue). They choose from PF pics.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I like the blended edges of the petals

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Speaking of Roses.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am not watching very many threads and supposed she was on my "unwatch" list.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

not sure if she is posting in the other forums or not

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Beautiful collage Ge, and lovely rose Allison!

Beautiful roses! What a nice way to start the day.

Allison - since J & P was bought out by Wayside Gardens they've gotten worse though that seems hard to believe. Wrong names on plants really bother me but your rose is lovely regardless of the name.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice collection, Jo. Really like monarda.

Beautiful roses, ladies. Kass is also busy with her new business.

Here is clem Fireworks.

Wayside Gardens is where DH bought me last year's roses. He bought 'Burgundy Iceberg' http://www.waysidegardens.com/gardening/PD/45127/ and 'fragrant Wave' http://www.jacksonandperkins.com/web_images/JacksonAndPerkins/products/33606-z.jpg which they got right for a change. LOL

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Meant to say the test will be if they return this spring or not..........

Nice Clem's gentlemen!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pirl I would rather have wrong tags and live plants... LOL at least I have something to show.. found out the hard way.. oh well live & learn

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh my goodness you all have been busy. Catching up starting with a pretty rose and ended with a couple more rose beauties. In between just about every kind of pretty bloom you could want to chase away the winter blahs. Clems and astilbe,DLs and cute little pansies that just scream spring. Very jealous there are already cherry or whatever they are trees blooming and a lovely pond scene to boot. Onewish's Dad is getting a nice birthday surprise that sounds just wonderful full of family and friends. Hope all goes well for everyone involved. Send wishes from here as well. Massive coleus combos and a smoke bush from Victor that I am hoping to duplicate here with my baby ones from last year. Several gorgeous delphs, a sunny dahlia and shots of two colors of bleeding heart. JoAnn strikes again with another great combo of lilies and monarda and back to roses that can't be beat. Great stuff all.
Here is one that was new last year and I am anxious to see if it returns, coreopsis 'Sienna Sunset'.

Thumbnail by ngam
Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow the color on that Burgundy one is amazing. Did it bloom much last year?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh boy more beauties while I was posting. Two great clems gentlemen.
And two more lovely roses too. Yummy. How are they for blackspot and are they smelly?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you Ngam.. that coreopsis is wonderful... the rose is still too new for me.. couldn't tell you if it's going to have problems yet.. and it wasn't over the top smelly.. just a touch so far.. it was only a tad bigger than what you see in the photo.. I kept saying to Randy as the bloom opened.. the bloom is going to be bigger than the plant

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Victor, it wasn't very big when I got it but yes, on the bloom for being just planted!!
