You guys are so far ahead of us! I have never seen some of your
blooms Marie. Lapeirousia oreogena is especially pretty!

Here's a terrific clump of crocus - the species have been out for about
a week and now the giants are coming in beautifully.

Love the crocus blooms. I sure do miss seeing the crocus blooming up North every spring.. They're so small but sure do send a colorful message that springs about to begin.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Both of you have some awesome blooms!!

Pretty bulbs everyone....

Podster - galanthus seems to do well for everyone but me. I have tried growing them twice, and no luck.
Chasmanthe peaked last week and is almost past it's prime now.

What interesting blooms! The foliage looks familiar. I think I have some of that that has never bloomed ~ what is your secret?

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

I got those from a friend last year - this is it's second year. The orange ones seem to bloom quite readily without much care since I see them in a lot of yards and they spread easily (that's how I got mine's - dug a few small corms off the edges). I have a yellow one that only blooms sporadically and I have had it for about 5 years. Maybe the secret is getting the right variety??? The leaves look very much like crocosmias, which bloom in the summer. I like the chasmanthe because there are so few things blooming this time of the year.

I have the crocosmias. I had a DG trader in CA send me a bulb of something she didn't know what it was, It hasn't bloomed for me yet but that foliage looks the same. Maybe...

The crocus and daffoldils are in bloom here. But since the daffs barely started there is still not enough color!

I just couldn't stand it anymore and bought the most pretty orange violas at the nursery. Just had to have to spring color already. Bought some potted in bloom ranunculus also in the most lovely and vibrant colors. I do love the flowers on ranunculus but if I want them I have to buy potted ones in bloom like I just got today. I can never get anywhere by planting the bublets myself and tring to get them to grow.

I bought ranunculus bulbs on sale at the end of
the fall bulb season and potted up three pots of them
a couple months ago. So far, I just have folliage.
I wonder how long they will take to bloom - and if they
will?

This winter was the first time I tried Ranunculus bulbs. Didn't plant them all at once. Did three separate plantings over the course of two months. It was 3 - 3 1/2 months to get blooms on the first batch. That batch of bulbs is still putting out red, white, yellow and pink flowers. Picked some of the red and white ones this weekend and put them in this vase with one red anemone, a red gerbera and a white snapdragon. Also planted some "Bloomingdale Mix" Ranunculus seeds in pots 2 1/2 months ago. They're still growing foliage right now. The time they take to bloom probably depends on temperatures and amount of light they get.

Beautiful arrangment!

Well, you have great success at them, unlike me. The arrangement is quite stunning.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I do order from Annie's. Yes it will become another addiction but you have to live a little right???

Oh Marie! Spoken like a true bulb-a-holic. :-) Lovely

Beautiful colors, everyone! Here's my first bearded iris bloom of the season. It came with the house, so I just call it "the white one." Does anyone recognize the cultivar?

That Lachenalia is neat. Never heard of the plant/flower. Have a couple pics, from yesterday. This is "Orange Star" Snake Plant. It grows from a bulb.

The single yellow flower a few posts up that faces downwards is Moraea pendula. Nice flower!

Love that orange star. I need to remember to pick one of those up.
