The orange ones seem to bloom quite readily without much care since I see them in a lot of yards and they spread easily (that's how I got mine's - dug a few small corms off the edges). I have a yellow one that only blooms sporadically and I have had it for about 5 years. Maybe the secret is getting the right variety??? The leaves look very much like crocosmias, which bloom in the summer. I like the chasmanthe because there are so few things blooming this time of the year.
