Looking thru the DL's lots of yellows and peaches that she's getting rid of and ,of course, at this time I'm looking for a true white.
What have you ordered 2010 #3
Flowerjen, I am looking for the non existent "true white " DL too. If you find one let me know.
For Victor,
Holy Mackerel I was looking for a Fresh Start under a Caribbean Raggae Moon to find the illusive Jade Phoenix hidden by the Outrageous King Lamoni that had been apparently reveled in a Cherokee Vision, when I found instead, a Victorian Lace Bustle the color of Nutmeg Spice. Strange, but then I slipped on a Rose in Snow and fell into the ocean where I was seduced by a Sea Urchin singing in Two Part Harmony the Wagner opera Lohengrin which had a Classic Edge and that is when I woke up and found my self broke with boxes and boxes of new plants. Patti

Creamy yellow doesnt sound white enough, sorryFlowerjen.
I tend to go slow where white anything is concerned in the garden.
Its important in a painting but white can be overdone.
I do love my white lilies however Casablancas are the best.
patti that was some dream!
I placed a pre order for some Royal Sunset Lilies at B&B. : ) The advertisment of being fragrant and the color got me. http://www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/summer/productview/?sku=84-126

flowerjen, I do grow Heidi Eidelweiss already and it is pretty white for sure and a nice form. I guess I got a good deal on them [quote]Rainbow Hill DL Farm - 1.00 sale each ordered 2 - near white green throat 1984 [quote] But as actually I keep looking, I think I may not like a stark white one if I ever find it. . It might just look like a lily and there are tons of those.
I just ordered a few more lilies from eflower. Bert has great deals on DL, glads, hosta, lilies and caladiums right now.

Oh boy some very nice lists here. I only have one "near" white DL that was new last year . I have not seen it bloom yet. Hoping for a few flowers this year. Love having first blooms to look forward to this season. Sibs are beauties, already have most of them on my ever growing wish list for next year.

Is elilies in co-ops?or classifieds
I have found most people and DL sellers say Gentle Shepherd is supposed to be the closest to true white. I got one of the the LIly Auction last year so I didn't see it bloom yet. I hope it ends up being the one it was sold to me as. The seller ended up having mixed reviews from fellow dgers. I did buy a Joan Senior and Sunday Gloves last year. Joan was pretty darn close to white, but I found they looked more white as the day went on.
I am off co-ops since the Koi disaster last summer. My gardens arent very big so I dont need many more plants.
looking at very dwarf astilbe & white crested iris, but have not ordered them as yet.
There is such a nice variety now in the astilbe family. I have a tall one coming that has been around for quite a while but there are some really nice small ones for the front of borders coming out now. Might have to look into some of those too if I can find a spot to tuck a couple in somewhere.
I am trying to decide whether or not to order Brookside or Johnson's Blue Hardy Geranium from Bluestone's. Any one have any input? Bluestone is listing the Johnson's as 12" tall and Brookside as 18" however I've seen other sites list Johnson's as being taller than Brookside. I want to go with the shorter of the two. Also would like to know which is closer to true blue, I find lots of plants (especially Geraniums) are advertised as blue but aren't in actuality. I've read that they may tend to be floppy so maybe one is less so than the other? Please give me some help deciding if possible. Thank you friends : )
I do not have 'Brookside' but I do have 'Johnson's Blue'. I would say it was between 12" and 18' tall depending on the weather. It is blue shading to purple pink. Here is a pic that is pretty accurate as to color in my garden. I like this one very much when the sun shines through the blooms. It blooms mid May to mid June here then no repeat bloom as I recall.
Thanks so much ngam, I wish I could say I love your pic, but I think you forgot it! : ) ... I would love to see it still : )
Okay I love it! : ) Thanks. It looks compact for you, so I wonder why some people say it is leggy and floppy? Do you find that?
After it blooms it can get a little wirey, but just give it a haircut and it will fill out with pretty leaves for the rest of the season. As you can see it blooms the same time as the peonies here. I have never had a rebloom on this one although I have heard others say they did.
Thanks for your help. I would prefer one that blooms more than once so maybe I should be looking for a different one. I have Jolly Bee which colors look very similar to yours. I find the Jolly Bee to be a little more purple when viewing in person, but it looks bluer in pics.
Color looks like Rozanne, which blooms much longer.
Must not go on this site any more! Too tempting! I had Johnson's Blue, dug it up & gave it to DS---it was very floppy, & didn't bloom long enough. I love Orkney Cherry---very low & spreading, & always in bloom.
I bought Brookside last summer Bluestones. I'll let you know how it does for me.
I had Johnsons Blue and it was floppy until i trimmed it and it rebloomed all summer. It smells divine!
Forgot to say it was closer to lilac colored but still very pretty.
