Well, onewish, you're probably not to far from a dairy farm are you?!!! Congress could keep everyone supplied with all the BS that goes on there!!!!
What have you ordered 2010 #3
ordered a cherokee sunset dogwood today from wildwood nursery - will get it next week and pot it up and store in the garage until spring arrives plenty of jm's in there to keep it company.
Why get it so early? I'm getting the red cornus from them - in April.
That's the dogwood I want, no fair!!!
It's called VariRed.
he was concerned about shipping it after it leafed out - not a big deal to keep it in the garage - i have a bag of tree soil in the basement just for this reason - i could have had him hold it for me.
i was looking at the red cornus.
i'll be interested in seeing how you like the varired - would have gotten it if the price were lower
I'll keep you posted.
Big mistake coming onto this site----loved the DL Strawberry Yum so much, I ordered the catalog. Bad Pixie! I ordered dahlias today, and a few perennials---Clementine verbascum was one. I'm still not sure what I'm planting in the bed I emptied of most everything except roses & phlox, plus I need edging plants for the new long bed I started last summer----& if the roses, peonies, DLs, & iris didn't make it, I'll be looking for a lot more! There didn't seem to be much of a snow cover this winter, although I did mulch heavily.
if there is a dairy farm nearby... I have no clue where it is
Just keep your nose alert until you smell the 'dairy air'!! Hee hee. ^_^
sigh
That was my motto for Wisconsin (good for license plates, etc.) - 'Wisconsin - come smell our dairy air!'
you need help
No kidding!
My MO tourist pitch was, 'Missouri needs company!'
geeze you are going down hill fast
I hit the bottom long ago.
true
Sorry Robin, baaaaaaaad Pixie!
Nice tree choice Bill!!
I like them Victor - made me smile
Nice trees.
LOL Victor.
Allison, if you need some, I could see if you could get some from my cousin in Lafayette.
ordered a couple hosta today from a new source because mason hollow does not carry them - hosta direct, anyone have experience with them? watchdog looked good.
ordered brim cup and dream queen
my only complaint was an extra charge to dig up and clean these "mature" plants - they better be:)
Nice selection, Jo Ann! Bill, I love Brim Cup, need to order it someday---I just ordered Eskimo Pie & Striptease.
Striptease would go well with pole beans.
LOL Sometimes you have to wonder where these names come from. These all look like nice hosta selections. I like the white blooms best Bill, but I don't think there is a really bad hosta. The only one I ordered this year is 'Golden Tiara' that will live near 'Blue Mouse Ears'.
I was looking at Hosta direct for some Giant varieties.Changed my mind when I realized the spot for them was on the deer path, guess it will be astilbes instead.
Hi Marilyn: I havnt been posting past 5AM much.Busy designing around lilies on order.
Hi to Louise too and anyone else I dont see all day.
Hope this isnt a repeat
i almost ordered golden mouse ears from them - too expensive for a very small size - love blue mouse ears mine is finally getting bigger.
robin a mature brim cup was under $10 from them - fyi:)
Last yr I bought 'Blue Ice' from Klehm's Sparrow song. 'blue Mouse' cost too much. the flag marking the spot occupied by white dwarf peony 'Squirt' has appeared out of the snow.
If any of you folks visit Maine in the spring/summer there is a nursery a few miles north of Searsport that offers Maine grown plants including many varieties of hosta. Last year his prices averaged $5 each (some less, some a little more). We spent quite a bit of money there and very satisfied with the results. If you're interested d-mail me and I can give directions. (INcludes mini's).
thx frank - do they have a web site?
Hi Frank, which one are you talking about? I'm 30-40 minutes from Searsmont.
Stockton Springs area?
Taught with a lady from Searsport, there is a small museum there named after her ancestor! Thanks, Bill for the Brim Cup info. Hi, Jo----the photo was lovely! Sent out a few more orders----Phlox 'Blue Magic', campanula 'Odessa', & helenium' Mardi Gras'.
Nice choice's Robin!
I use to love a nursery in Maine called Surry Gardens. But not too convenient unless I go to Mt Desert Island, which is always a great trip. But not in the plans this spring.
