Goodies on a snowy day, can't beat that. Glad it arrived in good shape Bill.
What have you ordered 2010 #3
So what do you do with it until the ground can be dug? Patti
i have a bag of dirt inside so i will pot it up slip the pot in a plastic grocery bag, water it and keep it in the garage until spring - garage is filled with trees:) i think this makes 9. anything in a container came inside for the winter.
Got a bunch of catalogs in the past 2 days. Some I won't order from but gives me ideas. Anyone have Plumbago? Is it always blue?
Bluestone came for first time. don't order their siberian irises--much better ones available. See 'Siberian iris' Polly Kisnsman or Joe Pye Weed. Much nicer varieties. High country Garden also arrived. Can't think flowers in nasty weather.
Plumbago is not hardy for me, but I grow it and bring it into the greenhouse for the winter. Pretty blue. Patti
I've had Bluestone and High Country for quite awhile; also Roots and Rhizomes. My original planned order was huge and I've been trimming back ever since to a more managable size. Happy to hear Select Seeds is a reliable catalog. I recieved my first from them a couple of weeks ago.
I forgot, I have seen a white plumbago, but only once in Fla. Patti
Now I have to say Baad Patti, because of the geraniums----have been looking for a long blooming white.
those would look good at the base of a purple ghost robin :)
i ordered a few things from bluestone today - aster prof. kippenburg (blue) on special and crimson brocade (red). as well as lobelia (cardinal flower, which i love) ruby slipper (deep crimson), vedrariensis (purple), and monet moment (deep pink).
these should be pretty safe perennials.
flowjen, do you mean Ceratostigma or hardy plumbago? If that, I have grown it for years as a late blooming ground cover. Only comes in blue as far as I know, but a great blue with foliage that turns a lovely maroon in the fall, but it is late to emerge. The one on the bottom left is the tropical Plumbago auriculata which is a shrub.
Nice order Wha. Patti
Nice blues, Patti! Bill, I loved Ruby Slippers, but she died a few years ago----I think my raised beds are too dry. Don't know where Purple Ghost will go yet, but am thinking front yard. Today I ordered dahlias & glads from Brent & Becky's---one dahlia is Karma Choc---comes close to chocolate, but has a lot of red in it.
purple ghost needs some shade protection
All the ghosts do.
Nice order Bill. I have RS lobelia and I think you will be happy with it.
Robin sounds like a nice dark dahlia, are the glads to go with it or in another place?
Well, good question, Pat----I dug up my oldest per. bed in the fall---just left some DLs & phlox---Oh, 2 roses, & some delphs, too----so I may plant glads & dahlias in there until I can find the plants I really want---or, I may put them in the veggie garden for some color.
Allison Where did you ask about the red verbena from High Country Gardens? That caught me eye also and is on my want list.
Also the ornamental oregano.
the other site... I have ornamental oregano.. if I can find the photo I sent Pixie (maybe) last year... mine never took off.. stayed the same size since it was planted... not sure if it's me.. or the plant... but I wouldn't recommend it .. if I didn't put the arrow on the photo you would not even know it's there
Is anyone in the hellebore co-op?? I prefer bigger plants, though Barry always sends nice stuff.
celeste and i are in there that i know of
not me this time
Nice Lilies Ge - I see Royal Sunset in there. I can't wait to see it! : )
Me neither.Do you have Royal Sunset in your garden?
Do you have pictures of it in the setting?
I would like to see how it looks with other plants.
No I don't have any but I pre ordered some. I was worried they'd run out! : )
I'm in too.
Now I know how compulsions start
I have 2 hellebores---must NOT read about coop!
Got the full Lee Valley catalog the other day. Man, they have so many cool, useful things! Many are very reasonably priced. I'll post links to some when I can.
Nice! Glad she's not 'hyding'.
Woo-hoo! First sign of the season? ^_^
yeah Patti
Oh that gives ya hope doesn't it. I also saw a bunch of robins yesterday. I'm afraid they are not so happy today and they are not alone. Snow go away!

i like the first, second and last link - when can you get them for me?
never tried the root pruning pots .. but they do look nice.. and supposed to transplant better.. lots of nice goodies Victor.. but I think that spray nozzle for the hose would make me nuts
There are many more useful things there. Great catalog!
I want the nozzle.I'll add one to my order in March when I order the 3 gallon rolling sprayer.
The trombone sprayer looked interesting but I might have trouble maintaining my balance while pumping (read anything into that you want to)
I have a narrow spade, wish I had bought the ergonomic one instead.
Is this a list for your order Victor?
