What have you ordered 2010 #3

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

how long do you think it will take for fruit on this batch? i ask cause i's still waiting for my dwarf granny smith tree from stark bros to give me some apples - this will be the third year - hoping this year or next.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Should start by the third year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Got my Rarefind catalog yesterday.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Got mine today!

I would say this year Bill, next for sure!

South Hamilton, MA

The original 'snow apple' was a French variety which was very white inside. This could be a descendant?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Possibly, that is one of the reason I ordered it was the long lasting white flesh.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope you have better success than I did with apples - which was none!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

These are all z 4 hardy, they should be fine.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hardiness was not my problem. They just did not produce apples.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Wonder why?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

did you have other trees to cross pollinate? My neighbors have 5 trees 15' away

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

BTW, that will make Brian NUTS! If it doesn't produce he'll be picking the poor man at the Nursery's brain.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I was just thinking that same thing Bill.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Plenty of other apple trees nearby.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

WHOO HOOO look at them go! Thanks onewish! What are you using for medium? Also did you or anyone see 2" cowpots anywhere this year?

Pixie I'm thinkin pies, lots and lots of pies droooooool.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am trying coconut husk in hopes the gnats don't come.. it's the compressed bricks that expand with water.. just bought a ton from Boca Bob.. and as far as I know they don't make 2" cow pots... only 3 or 4" a while back I emailed growers solution and I didn't get a response about another co-op this year.. never got a reply.. wondering if my email was blocked from when my account was hijacked

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I got that too. It costs too much for postage.
The secret is to order lots of seeds I guess.
My 3 packs cost over seven dollars to mail.
I will find another mail order co. I just dont grow much from seed like nyou do.
I love your little seedlings .

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I order a lot of seeds during the 1/2 price sale.. the shipping seems more worth it then

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Yep.
Is it a flat shipping rate?
That would seem worthwhile

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it might go up with the price.. don't remember

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I was disapointed when the total cost of 3 packs of seeds was as much as the shipping.
Vowed not to be so stupid next time and order more or find the same seeds on a less expensive site.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I find at least they put a good amount of seed in the packs though and they usually list how many seeds are in there

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I just looked in my July order which was $50.00 it cost $8.95 for the shipping

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats a lot of seed.Holicow

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

and most were a dollar a pack so yes.. it was a big order

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

T&M's packs are HUGE (usually)

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

T& M seeds have good germination rates too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

looks like a good deal to me

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I like T&M's seed too. Great quantity/price ratio and great germination rates for me too. I order a ton in the fall when they slash their prices. Onewish my friend Birdies the Bulbous Queen switched to coir after she got invaded by fungus gnats and she said it really made a difference! Ya I don't think anyone is making 2" cowpots yet either. Silly cowpotters. There is a HUMUNGOUS market for 2" pots. I wonder if anyone on the Livestock Forum would make them? I mean how hard can it be? A mold and poop. O just realized that the poop part might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

write them.. I have in the past asking for them... maybe if enough ask they will make them

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

You are so brilliant onewish. Also if you all/you'all in the US would do that too it would help greatly methinks (hint, hint everyone).

South Hamilton, MA

So you're making pots for us?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I vote for onewish to make 2" pots too! Fabby idea irisMa!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the heads up Allison

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh geeze... don't think they would let me have a cow here
