Countdown to spring! One garden photo per day - Part 8
Love it! Love it!!
48 days!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Candyce for the clem name. Oh wow 48 sounds so much closer. Yippee! More terrific shots you all. I do believe that a large percentage of shots from last year have drops of rain on them. I do hope conditions are more moderate this year.
You and me both!
That's a beauty, Weeze! Love all the shades.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Terrific, Louise! It's so full of blooms. How old is it?
Oh! It is so gorgeous! I'm jealous.
Beautiful blooms everyone!!
Most likely a 2 year old. It puts out lots of blooms but hasn't gotten very tall. Less than 3 feet. Maybe this year.......
That garden was here when we moved in.Not many changes until this fall when DD reworked the wall and thinned out some stuff.
She is a more casual gardener than I am.
really nice pond Bill
The wall was on a slope and too steep of a curve to mow easily.DD removed the curve and back filled to make a straighter border.I would post an October picture but yew know what would happen.
jeez don't post another picture:)
I feel conformity coming on just for today though.
Jerry seems to know a good thing when he sees it. Cats are really good at enjoying life I think.
And I enjoy seeing pretty iris blooms, thanks onewish that is another beauty.
Nice pond pic, loaded with water lilies and frogs right. Such wonderfully adapted plants.
This is the first echinacea to bloom in my garden and lasts all season just about. As you can see I am not the only one that likes them.
nice picture pat - like the grass hopper
Which variety is that
That is 'Coconut Lime'. The new echinacea since the awful Big Sky series have been mostly very good, at least here. I have a couple new ones from last year that I have to see if they made it through the winter or not but on the whole most of the new varieties have been good. Have more new ones coming this spring. I think the trick is not to start with really small plants and to plant in the spring.
Wha, that is a stunning water spot. Needs a wall to set it off. I'll bet you could build one or 2 or 3 in quick order.
ngam, Love that Coconut Lime. I can't seem to grow echinacea in my garden. Sad
Onewish1, nice iris, I am trying to add more broken ones, as well as the plicatas.
Victor, nice lily. I am spending some time today thinking about some new ones. Not that I need more.
Here is a sunny pic of L. Stunning, L.Graffiti and L.Dazzle on July 8th year. Patti
Oops - great grouping, Patti!
Weeze that Clem is gorgeous!!!
Hi jerry!
'Everything Plus' is well named, beautiful!
Nice pond Bill, are the lilies native or did you buy them?
I like the way that 'Coconut Lime' fills in at the top, and how the petals go straight down, very nice. ^_^
Beautiful group of lilies Patti.
Victor, nice shot...'Muscadet' sound familar?
Yes, that's it. Thanks!
it depends - in the picture i posted the water is only a couple feet deep - muck is probably over my head:) to the left of the island the water is over my head depending on the time of year - this whole area is really a stream - i think the farm next door dug out the earth there to make the pond as there is a small hill/huge pile of dirt just over the property line - he also put in horn-pout (fish) to keep it clean.
coconut lime is a nice one
nice dl celeste
another great shot patti
nice victor
Very pretty, Celeste! Love all the colors.
Has it ever gone dry, Bill?
never completely - one year the shallow side was pretty dried out and i ripped out a lot of bushes, vegetation, and dug out all the black muck i could, about 16" down and built up the land in front of the water - and i moved a huge stone off the island using plywood, boards, and a pry bar - still amazed i was able to get it too dry land:)
after clearing it gave us a nice "pond" view - more ducks moved in and the pond lilies began to sprout. that's why i need to get the branches out - stuff starts falling, they break down, and over time they turn into little islands and the vegetation comes back. most of the vegetation is wild high bush blueberries
Beautiful Anita!!
The pond is beautiful, Bill. I love the natural feel to it.
Pat - you did a great job of color harmony with the grasshopper and the tuft at the top of the echinacea! Lovely photo.
Very nice lilies, Patti. Is 'Stunning' the lightest one in the photo?
Love that Muscadet lily, Victor. I have them in three gardens: great performers.
Pixie - isn't that Malaysian Monarch by Munson? Looks just like it to me.
So pretty and frilly, Anita! No wonder it makes you think of spring.
I'd post my photo of Malaysian Monarch but we know about VPP - Victor's Plant Police. Loved that comment above!
Here's an Asiatic lily taken at twilight time.
Very pretty Anita. I bet you can't wait for those to out again. Do you over winter it?
Thanks pirl and that is a terrific shot of the lily. Reminds me of the glowing sunset it is reflecting. Just beautiful.
He hasn't made much of a fuss today, have you noticed? ^_^
He's probably playing his guitar and dreaming of spring.
Bill I hope you can get at the blueberries. those little tart ones beat the 'cultivated' for taste. When we moved here we had both high & low blueberries. The low do not produce ony more because of shade.
Out property spent 30 yrs as conservation land then that designation ran out. It was coloanized by all sorts of trees & shrube, the back 2 acres still wooded & one of Bambi retreats. Wish they would stay there.
lucy the birds usually beat me to the wild BB's - i do have a couple cultivated HB BB's that we pick from
Patti I love the Grafitti and all.I have some Sweet Surrender lilies that will go with the grafitti I have.
