Thanks LK. I'm still a member there, under Heavenscape.. and I haven't got any emails nor new directives from them concerning that poll.
Good place for obtaining free seeds if you're a member there.. tho.
I stopped asking for seeds as I have no luck at all with them... oops must not forget Twyla before my membership expires!

Good job Cindy!! You're now officially a quilter!

Looking at your pictures give me the warm fuzzies...

So, here's mine. Taken last year at BJ's. Promise to have someone take a recent of ours, so forgive this old one.

Jaye, so glad to hear Kel if feeling better. I sure wish everyone here was feeling good.....it is depressing being sick and yet to be sick in the winter makes it twice as bad! How's Lola...still as chipper?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Phyllis, that would be the most safe plan for your parents.

We had a cartoon fest tonight. Rewatched Ratatouille and then Wall-E.
Perfect mindless entertainment to rest our minds too.
Supper was perfect. Egg noodles with beef broth and even Lola's feeling a tad better.

It's still sleet and ice out there. All our outside kitties are warm in their own shed.. while Hambone's snoring away in Kel's workshop.

Bidding you all a good night..

Good Morning Ladies,
Coffee is on and for those that are hungry there is Ham & Cheese Omelettes, hash browns and sausage gravy and biscuits . Help yourself!

Thought I would share this with all of you....

The History of APRONS

I don't think our kids or grandkids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath. Because she only had a few, it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.

And when the weather was cold, Grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove..

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool, now her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw after taking them from the freezer..

Some people today would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.......

Linda

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good Morning, and Thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Linda, where have you been, we have not heard from you in a long time? Hope your doing OK, and not too busy? Nice to see you posting.
Jaye, glad to hear your all having a restful day. Hope your all feeling a bit better?
Phyllis, glad to hear they delayed the trip also, better safe than sorry.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Another prayer request please
I told you about my sister Alice, well, she had a bout of pneumonia (they say it's under control, but she's the one who is in the hospital for lung cancer and they took another piece out of her left lung.........).
Well, her son, my nephew (Rick), had a stroke on Wed - I just found out last night (another city, and no one thought to tell me.........). He's in hospital. Unfortunately not the same one Alice is in, so Glen (my BIL) is having to run between the two hospitals....... poor man!
Rick is 50. Glen had to wait with him for 12 hours to get Rick admitted.....

a lot of trouble for one family...........
Please pray for Alice, Rick & Glen.

Susan

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Prayers going up for Alice, Rick and Glen...

So nice to see my sisters.....this one is Marion and me last year at BJ's in Texas...

Today is little Kyle's first birthday party. He turned one yesterday. He is a real cutie-pie...hope I remember to take the camera. There place is really small and they had a huge birthday party for his brother last August, but of course, it was outside. I surely don't know where they will put everyone if the same people all show up!

I'm trying to get off sugar....this is my 3rd full day without candy, cakes or cookies. I'm still having my lite yogurt, but that's it. It's finally starting to get a little easier. I'm taking acai and gymnema, so hopefully with those two things, I'll be able to control my eating more. I would surely love to lose a few pounds! I do think I'm losing a few inches. Not sure if it's the new shoes or not, but whatever it is, I hope it keeps up!

Saying prayers here too Susan, for you and your family to get through this. Praying for life more abundant for all.

Great picture...look at that tan! and is that a computer monitor I see? wouldn't happen to be looking at Dave's Garden site were you guys?? lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL, yes look at that tan!! The pale on is from Florida --one without the tan obviously. You should see the one of our feet together!! Yikes. Yes, a computer monitor looking at this thread as a matter of fact and also putting in our camera disc to see everyone's pictures. You know the old saying "have computer, will travel" or something like that. Cookie, I love that picture of you.

Lazy morning here today. Weather definitely on the cooler side but no rain so not complaining. Spent the evening with my son and his family last evening--grilled hotdogs with all the trimmings then we, too, watch cartoons with the girls. Why are hotdogs so much better when cooked over an outdoor fire? Hum, guess that is one of life's greatest questions--well to me it is.

My oldest GD got a sewing machine for Christmas and she met me at my car to show me the little doll quilt she had made yesterday. Insert: see Grandma's head swell!!!! If I must say so and brag myself, she did a really nice job for a 7 yo--looks like there will be another sewer in the family. Wahoo!!!! The youngest GD was just in a "I want to be cuddled" mood last night. Tough job but some has to do it.

Well, I need to get up and do something today. Oh BTW, thanks for the wonderful breakfast--loved the omelet and sausage gravy with biscuit. My kine of breakfast.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Prayers going up!

Look at all those pics!! I'm going to get my bucket-o-pics out and scan a bunch for ya'll, I know, I keep saying that LOL

Jaye embroidery is very picky, but my grandmother used to quilt big time and I know how big that can get, and I don't have a sewing machine or quilting frames or anything like that, and don't see it happening anytime soon, so oh well.

I'll have more ice pics for ya'll from this morning. The sun is out, the ice is melting and it's supposed to be in the mid 40's today so all of this is going to be gone by this evening. The sun is shining through the ice on the trees and it looks absolutely gorgeous! Of course the camera doesn't do it justice.

And the sun is soooo warm coming through the window!
