Breaking news:
Attention Crissy!!
"Arkansas State Police warned people who were driving to work on Friday to be prepared to be stranded. Spokesman Bill Sadler encouraged motorists to bring blankets, water and snacks with them and to line up a hotel room within walking distance or make other plans for an overnight stay."
I'm so glad you're home.. didn't expect it to be this bad.
Do I know Susan?
hmmmm think she's the scatterbrained one who hasn't been on here much lately..... Cut pieces? dunno what you're referring to......
((((((((((Cookie)))))))))) I concur - the perfect job for you is out there, but it's perfecting itself for you. When the time is right HE will make sure you're in the right place/time.
As my dad used to say "Everything will come to you in it's own good time....." I just wanted to give "Everything" a kick in the ole posterior to get it coming to me Quicker lol

Jaye, I love susan Boyle, too! I'd like to have her cd and Celtic Woman. My favorites!
Ahhhhhh.... I found them!!! Susan you're so organize.. would love for you to organize my crafting mess!!! Hehehehe..
I'm still listening to the cd Audrey.. think I'm obsessed!!
Sending out prayers to all in need.
Spent most of yesterday up North for Laura's job training...two more Thursday's to go. We were a little early so drove around the area. There is a little shop called the Knittery. Oh my! They have the most wonderful yarns, and their sample projects are to die for!! Unfortunately they are only open until six. I may have to go back the Canvas Works here and take some more knitting classes...sigh....
Applebee's!! Laura and I went there for dinner after she finished up last night. They have a special going where you get an appetizer to share and two entrees or $20. We had boneless hot wings...double crunch shrimp with fries and slaw...sirloin steak with fresh veggies and baked potato....we could not eat it all...and it was wonderful! Yes they have a fantastic Spinach/Artichoke dip that is to die for!
Next Thursday is going to be an Expressway Marathon... my sis get into SeaTac at ten a.m. By the time we pick her up and stop for lunch we will get home just in time to leave for Laura's training...it is less than ten miles from the airport.... by the time we stop for dinner afterwards it is after eleven when we get home...it is going to be a very long day.... and Bill wonders why I want to sleep in so late on Friday mornings.....
The good thing is I have Sage's Snugglie done up to the arms....I have run into a problem with the directions and need to go down to Canvas Works and see if they can translate for me.... in the meantime I am half way through a Squares Afghan....it is made of seven 7" squares each of seven different colors stitched together. It is good mindless work to do in the car or at the Coffee place while I wait for Laura.... I have a really neat clip-on high intensity craft light that I clip onto the steering wheel on the car, turn the radio on to the classical station (they had a live broadcast of Russian Chamber Music last night that was wonderful) and I am set for the evening.
Sounds like many of you have some very nasty weather headed your way...stay warm, stay safe.
Later,
Trish
Hey Trish, I'm so glad Applebee's still has my favorite dip on its' menu :D
You're definitely an opportunist!! Lol!! Sounds like me.. seize any opportunity to just read or keep these hands occupied!
I assume Laura's all into her training.. that's good.
By the way, box was mailed out to Melissa, she might get it today.
Ok..ok... no more sweet interruptions.. serious this time.. off to dust off the sewing machine!
Well, lunch was terrible, we went to Chili's, and corporate has chnged the menu. They no longer have cimichuri sauce for the fajitas, no cocktail sauce for the shrimp, the portions are smaller. Dad had 1/2 rack of ribs, and he got 5 pieces of ribs. I told the manager, I will not be back, until they fix the problems!
Trisha, so glad to hear your getting the aghan done! It is taking a long time for Laura's training?
Jaye and LK, Laura is so excited...but she will be happy when the training is over and she get to work regularly. Since they have to go so far for training it is five hours each Thursday for 4 weeks...as the person doing the training still has to do his own job full time, in addition to training his Booker. They will both be glad when training is over as it will mean more income for both of them.... But the good news is she gets paid $10 per hour for training and she also gets paid for any appointments scheduled during training.... they also send home some work for her to do during the week between sessions...so that is good too. I am just glad she doesn't have to be up there every day...it is a long drive and she has to be there right at the start of rush hour traffic which can be really nasty in that area.
We don't have Chili's down here....they have them in the Seattle area...never been to one. But Oh yeah, Spinach/Artichoke Dip is to die for.....Costco has a really good one too...unfortunately I could eat the entire container!
you have Costco in WA? kewl - I love shopping there!
Jaye - ME? organized???????? omgoodness - you've never seen my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahahaha 'tis to laugh! I can organize my life and workspace, but not my home space..... siiiiiiigh
Periodically I strip out my place, and start fresh, but it sure doesn't take long for it to get cluttered looking!
I used to be puzzled by people who lived in clutter but knew Exactly where everything was...... no longer!! ^_^

LINDA KAY............I just cleaned your house and found banana peels, apple cores and half eaten cookies in your bed.Dirty socks and shirts in the kitchen.........you better start keeping up better young lady or you will be grounded from riding that chopper in the garage !! HI Girls!!!!!
Yes I am alive just been dang busy and tired
I do hope everyone is doing well
I hopped in as my folks are planning on heading back to Central Il Saturday and the weather reports are mixed as to if it will be safe driving or if they might get stuck someplace because of snow and or ice.
Can any of you ladies in AR tell me what is really going on out there?
they will travel to Texarkana then go across to Memphis and then up to Cairo IL I30 - I 40 - I-55/57
Twyla...I don't want the weather you're having there!!! Gives me the shivers, girl!! Thank you for taking your time to share these pictures with us. Give us an idea of what's going on around you.
It's starting to go down to the 20's here and I'm already in my 3rd layer!!
You stay warm, and tuck yourself up real good for bed. A good hot toddy too will chase those chills away.
Hey there Phyllis! Crissy's the only one that's able to answer your question, and the room where her pc is in gets terribly cold. Perhaps you can try Midsouth or check the weather channel.
Glad to know you've been busy. Return to say hi now and then;)
You got to start somewhere, right Trish! I'm so glad Laura's excited about her job and she's finally 'earning' a decent wage. She could be paid minimum wages, but thank God, for sensibilities on the boss' part.
Pssst.. Susan.. I'm the same. A great organizer at work but not at home!!
Synda would not want to clean up my house. No telling what indescribable things she'd find here!!!! Oh wait.. Synda.. come clean my house will ya.. maybe you'll be able to find all of Lola's doggie treats that she love to hide!!!
LK, you're in good company here!!! Lolol!!!
I had to rush Lola to the vet at 3.30, this afternoon. She was coughing badly and I can't take a chance of not knowing what's wrong with her Vet ran bloodwork and a fecal test. He said Lola caught a virus from another dog. She's never in contact with Hambone and he's not coughing away... BUT, papa Kel love to touch other dogs that come with the customers to the store.. and one might be ill..and papa Kel might have transferred that bacteria to Lola...
So.. papa Kel, if he want to save $71 in the future, MUST wash his hands before touching Lola!!!
You all ladies that got cheap vets.... be thankful. This state has the most ridiculous charges for animal care. I am lucky that my vet charges 45 for a cat to be neutered and 95 for spaying. Other vets triple their prices!!! No animal husbandry school here, so no free services :(
Thought my night will be easier...
nope... Kel's throwing up and having diarrhea. Think he caught the virus or having a stomach flu.
Sampson do have his limits right?
We might eat at the same restaurant, but we don't eat the same thing. Apparently I ate the right thing.
Good night everyone.. stay warm.
I have hear rumors that pets can suffer from the flu same as humans do...sure hope Kel and Lola start feeling better.
Just checking in to see how everyone is fairing with the weather coming in.....stay warm and safe everyone.
Jaye nothing is as sad as your husband buying you a wrap-a-round of diamonds and sapphires to go around your engagement ring ,and you only have it for about 3 months. And then the kitten decides it likes to play with things on the night stand. You look for years off and on without ever finding it.Until about 6 years later you decide to move. The ring is the last thing on your mind.....as you are at the new house and hubby is cleaning the old,who would ever think that a kitten would be able to get something from the bedroom to the kitchen? All though this kitten is as odd as her owner. She would get up on a shelf and get the kids pixi sticks one at a time and carry them around like a stick. And when she lost it would proceed to get a new one.Well there were about fifty pixi sticks and a diamond and sapphire wrap-a- round under the frig.Teach me not to clean in places people can't see.......
Hey Julie. How are you?
I had asked the vet the same thing... he said it's very minute possibility. Then I asked him whether cats can do that to dogs.. he said no.
BUT, come Monday morning I'll let him know of the coincidence!
Kel has quit his bouts of vomitting. He's been sucking on ice. Told me just now he's glad he's not barking!!! ROF!!!
You don't stay up too late please. Don't want bags under your eyes do ya?
Oh my Synda! At least you're reunited with the ring!!
I lost some jewelry when I was with my ex.. but not due to carelessness! Had to sell them to survive!
Oh by the way, Julie, Lola never threw up or had diarrhea. Just the cough and fever.
Night shift sistahs... please be warm! Love y'all!
Love ya to sweet Jaye.......I'm not long from beddy bye.....Just drinking an orange sherbet and sierra mist float...yumm !!!!!!!!!!
Night everyone.
Jaye, glad to hear Kel is doing a bit better. Keep us posted about Lola too?
Synda, It is amazing what we find under the apliances sometimes! Glad you found your ring.
Hey phyllis, how are you doing? Sorry, can't help with the weather forecast for AK!
Pegi, don't you dare brag on your warm weather later.
Bon, since you didn't post, I presume you're tired from your trip and soundly asleep in your warm bed.
Phyllis, I hope you've found some answers.
Gonna crawl back to bed..
G'night Sweet Jaye....get some well deserved rest
do any of you older members remember this? I just found it tonight...what a hoot! (started in 2005 but people are still posting)

Good Morning Glory! NC is under a white blanket this morning. Don't know if we'll get any sun this morning - it's still black out.
Randall will rise shortly and put on a big pot of coffee for those of you that want it. I've got a big pan of water on and a selection of teas ready: White Pomegranate, Constant Comet, Lemon Lift, and English Breakfast. Have a pan of milk warming for Ruth and y'all some hot chocolate, too. Breakfast is likely to be waffles with hot buttery syrup or blueberry syrup. N.C. has had a big winter storm come through and dump snow on us! So it's a cozy stay warm inside kind of day even before the sun comes up. Praying we don't get the ice expected which might lead to power loss.
But never fear - we have a gas stove and a fireplace.
yesterday I attended Dr. Roy Epperson's funeral, "A service of Hope and Celebration" over in High Point. (I keep thinking he's in Greensboro.) That's where they make all the furniture. Learned a lot about him on the trip over. I rode with iris friends, and they celebrated his life with many touching tales. Most touching of all was listening to the honor, respect and deep love his grandchildren had for him. He helped raise some of them. He had wanted to be called "Gran Pere", but the firstborn of them, as a babe, mangled it into Gamper, and Gamper he was to all. One of his granddaughters asked that this Miley Cyrus song be played "I Miss You."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW_eVzA0Y8E says here it was written when Miley's grandfather passed. The kids described him as the true embodiment of a southern gentleman. He was a gentle man. And a very very much respected chemistry professor. And a collector of Santa Claus dolls! That made me laugh, for he did look very much like a sweet slim santa himself!
He was president of the American Iris Society, and there is much to do. He was not expecting this. He lived alone, his wife having pre-deceased him by nearly 15 years. His daughters, having his same respect for the causes he helped, were wonderful and wanted help this past week sorting out the AIS materials that needed to be moved on. One of our ENCIS members was much overwhelmed and has been spearheading the transition of power and boxes of stuff.
I did not know they needed help doing this, but I am going to help the daughters desire to have his garden on the tour this year. Am told they begged us to help folks enjoy it one last time. They can't quite face not having his home to visit, he'd lived there so very long. So I've promised to spearhead getting his garden ready for the tour, since others have been stepping up to take over most of the other tour and conference duties he's left behind on this earth. Standing there in his sleeping garden, you could feel how much he'd loved it, and could tell he hadn't felt well for a time. There's much to be done.
But the feeling of being where a kindred spirit walked overcame me as I stood in his garden. As I had listened to the service, I was deeply moved as they described his love of music, the arts, irises, and theatre. Not the sorts of things you'd think a respected scientist and civic leader would love. They are all the things I love too. I felt again the loss of this man who I had met only last May, and much liked, and who I had hoped would help mentor me as I set out to become an iris judge.
Morning Bon, thanks for the breakfast spread! Sounds like it was a great service yesterday, and you have lots of work to do?
Cold here too, all of about 35 degree's, but no snow.
Morning here also. Rain, now tell me that was a surprise for you to read. LOL It is suppose to clear this afternoon but turning colder, atleast there isn't any ice or snow. Please everyone who is dealing with that, be careful. We need you all safe and sound.
Have a wonderful outing with my son and his family yesterday. Today, I am going to visit with my washer, dryer and sewing machine. I don't have a clue where all this laundry comes from!!!
Jaye, I hated to read Kel was sick--nothing worse than a man being sick. Even is he isn't one who suffers so all know it, they are still so miserable. Tell him I hope he is better soon, take 2 lemon jelly beans and go to bed. Well isn't it something like that the doctor's always tell you?
Going to check some other threads then off to work on my chore list for the day.
Ah, me. I'm trying to make these limbs move and start cleaning. Randall is already cleaning - nothing like a blanket of white outside to really light up the house inside even without bright sun! I can see ALL the dirt. ARGH.
it's still coming down, now as freezing drizzle.
Plenty of snow, here! 21*!
+++
Please be carful, if you have to go out! No whoopy de doo's!
Morning all!
I'm deeply moved by how Bon's reacting to the demise of this Iris Friend. That's what he is Bon.. the Iris world has indeed lost it's best friend.
Hiya LK.. what's up for today? Taking your dad somewhere warm?
Lola's prescribed 2 cc amoxillin twice a day, and after only 2 doses, she's now back to her usual hyper self!
Maid M, Kel's snoring away in the recliner now. Poor babe.. he's so sick and I thank God there's a reason for the sleet and icy rain here today.. as he's forced to close the shop ;)
Later this evening, I'll get some Pedialyte for him.
Hmmm... no more jelly beans.. got to get him some for being a good patient :D
Audrey, do you have plenty of food at home that you don't have to leave the building?? Saw the snow you're having on tv.. not something I want any month!!
Yah.. we're supposed to view an apron exhibition at the beach, and that's cancelled too.
