UGGGGGH.So long to wait for Lilacs here.

Thomaston, CT

Can't wait for lilacs---my fav shrub, but I love the spicy viburnum as well---Victor, I'm drooling over the hellebore...mine are white---sigh.

South Hamilton, MA

Forsythia before lilacs.

I have a Witch hazel question.
Both of the new trees are blooming.Jelenna and Weskey Supreme.
I cant get to them to take pictures.
How long do the blooms last?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They last a while - weeks, not days, if I remember correctly. I used to have Jelena.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats great. The snow is just too deep on the slope .
I can see the clumps of orangepeel with my Binocks from the bedroom window.
These are Vibernums and the Witch hazels are on the other side. Just to illustrate how the snow looks.
The yard slopes away from my view.
I fell on the slope last year and ended up on the neighbors driveway.
Just rolled down hill.

Victor, I'm jealous of your hellebore bloom. My buds are still not open.

JoAnn, my witch hazels are still blooming nicely. It's been at least 3-4 weeks now. You will get to enjoy yours soon. Good thing you didn't hurt yourself when you rolled down that hill of yours!

It was so humiliating. It was after everyone in the hood had gone to work. I have one of those alarms I wear around my neck and even the neighbor who is first call on the list was out.
I rolled over onto my stomach and used the bucket to pull myself up to a position where I could get on my hands and knees snd stand.
No breaks or sprains.

South Hamilton, MA

I use a kneeler with handles in the garden. Only way I can get up easily after a fall.

Yaay! Purtiest bloom I've ever seen! ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

don't like you anymore!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee!

The 'trick' is to pick a sheltered spot that gets southern exposure and plant some early bulbs there.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the stinky hellebore is the only one that has a sheltered spot... only new growth so far though

where the green ones are planted... won't be seeing them for a while... but I can almost see all the light covers that fell off the christmas lights.. we even used electrical tape on each cover to avoid this from happening again this year... it didn't work

Victor, NO FAIR. My husband is very jealous. We are in Vt with piles of now, still more than a foot. But it is a beautiful sight. Thanks, Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Patti. I'm sure you're close in Nantucket.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

No fair, Victor!!!

I saw some purple crocus blooming in the town next to me.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I have almost no snow,(very unusual) and my crocus have broke ground!!

South Hamilton, MA

Our blooming lavender crocus is up against the house. Is that cheating? Don't care!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

See, you picked the wrong town, Jen!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

All's fair...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thats lovely Victor, and puts a little skip in my step today as I know it's not all that far away before they will be blooming here too!!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, I don't think so as I looked before leaving yesterday. Saw one Hyacinth that had a nice bud emerging, but no crocus, but I can hope. However, I am heading west in a few days, so I may miss the start of the bulb season. My youngest brother and I planned a surprise trip to treat our Mom to a trip to a visit with her younger sister in Southern Calif for our Mom's 95 on March 12 Birthday. I hope to be able to swim in the Pacific. But missing the first crocus is hard to take. I will enjoy yours.

I do have a few photo's of Hamamelis in bloom. I didn't look at the tags, so I am not sure today which is which. I have more, but was rushing to leave to get to VT via Weston Ct for a memorial for our friend. Long day, yesterday. Patti

Those are beauties, Patti...& Victor, you win---unless that's last year's bloom! Spoke to my stepdaughter on LI yesterday...hers are up, but not in bloom. Mine are not up----but I do have daffs up. Jo, your snow will be gone soon...can't wait to see your witch hazel.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, Weeze! Great color. I have to get some RI's.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Venu209, now I am doing the happy dance. Love those little iris to death. I am thinking you have Iris reticulata Clairette (light one) and reticulata 'Pixie. Patti
