Well, I've had a busy evening - went to Langdon, AB to pick up a second hand Breadmaker (never had one before), then we went to Montana's restaurant for supper, then tried to catch up on here lol
have only had 6 hrs/night sleep, so I'm heading off now.......
Take care everyone! Have a blissful sleep and a wonderful day tomorrow, if I don't see you before then ^_^
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
What's Happening in your neck of the woods? Friends...
Mornin ..
Hope YOUR sleep was 'blissful' Susan .. we seem to have (still) a slight 'fly in the ointment' with Smokey !! Seems that arouns 3am he decides he wants COMPANY by the fire, and so, he seeks it out !! Have had to resort to barricading bedroom doors, if you SHUT the door, well little heat gets in. So, UNTHWARTED, he proceeds to try and DIG his way into a bedroom .. just long enough to waken people and get Lilly UP .. quite the situation .. funny thing is .. we all still love him LoL
My breadmaker has been in overdrive the last few days as I have been making bread for an upcoming bake sale this weekend .. ENJOY Susan.
Carol I feel so bad re the unsociable Sheltie .. all I can do is wish you luck .. my cousin who breeds them has mentioned that every so often they become 'overly shy' .. never agressive ..
Out early today, Lilly is off to the groomer and I have scads of errands to run ...
Everyone enoy your day ^_^
~M~
BRRRR get those snugglies on..it's cold out there..going to forget about the bylaw that says 'no idling' lordy, you'd not be able to drive for frost in the windshield...poor car has to warm up as well..should have plugged her in I guess..wouldn't it be wonderful to have a 'plug' in for us? lol
Seems everyone is getting less sleep of late...
Susan, you'll love the breadmaker..had to put mine away, think that's where half my weight came from..waking up to the smell of hot bread, 1/2 lb of butter then of course jam...
Carol, you should be highly commended for all the work you do..my sister Sharon does same for American Eskimo dogs, she's always on the run..big commitment....
Got to tell you what happened last night with one of my furries...
I did 25 thread catchers for a sale this weekend, all made but the grab bag had to be filled with weight..great way is kittie liter..had all but 8 completed...all day I thought, coming home and getting them done...went into the craft room and could smell urine odor, now that's not a fun thing to be smelling, my kitties never go unless it's in the laundry room where their liter box is...ooops had a garbage bad on my craft table, with an open bag of kitty liter I was using for my project, guess they thought it was for them to use...yuk...so back to the store for more..did get them all done so that commitment is finished!
Got several projects on my 'to do' list for this long weekend, will have to see just how many I accomplish..
Stay warm..enjoy your day!

Well, I finally had a chance to look at my "new" breadmaker....... she never washed it out ewwww. Smelled like pancake batter....... but my "sniffer" isn't reliable, so don't know. The basket was dirty, and so were the "innards" where the element is.
I suppose a good wipe will work, but geeeeze......... I didn't think to look inside, cuz that usually doesn't tell you anything. She plugged it in to show me it had power, but I was standing in her front hall, and it was on the floor. She didn't have the hall light on cuz light was coming from the kitchen. I should have looked.........
ah well, once it's cleaned, it will work, or it won't. It only cost $15, so it won't be a huge loss, but we had to go out of the city a bit to get it. Just a bit annoying.....
Susan
LOL .. the card is too cute Betty .. Hope you have a wonderful day as well !!
Susan .. I USED to wipe around the element after every usage of the bread machine, but, just do it now it it looks 'crummy' .. but .. I ALWAYS wash the basket and paddle. Good luck, you'll soom be a whizz with it. My ONLY wish is that mine had the ability to make TWO loaves at a time ..
Lorna's boss is very critical now. Has been given just days to live, so, we are sticking close to home. Will go to visit him though. He's very stoic.
Guess not everyone gets the long weekend .. Lorna has physio Monday morning.
Enjoy the long weekend if you DO get it off ^_^
Ciao
~M~
Thanks for the hint, Marilynne
I'll include Lorna's boss in my prayers...... I hope he goes peacefully.......
I have the long weekend ^_^
HAPPY HEARTS DAY everyone .... clickon the link below, and, ENJOY ^_^

~M~
Susan, thank you so much for including Tim in your prayers .. much appreciated.
Actually I should be thanking everyone on this site for their kindness and support during the last 6 months. Even though you don't know Lorna, or Tim, her boss, you have always been unflagging in your support of both of them and me as well. What a better day to say 'THANK YOU' from the Heart !!!
~M~
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY everyone....
Know you are all special, hugs going out to each and everyone of you...
OMG "M" you are up early! prayers going out for Lorna and Tim .. with all living so far apart there is nothing each of us can do to help but we can say prayers...
Snowed last night but no great amount..couldn't sleep so thought I'd make myself be productive..have 11 pairs of jeans to hem, got them 1/2 done, thoughts I'd beat the crowds at Walmart, need some wool to finish the 5th afghan-funny how you want to use up leftovers and yet you have to buy more..just know there will be lots left over and the cycle will start all over...
Went to WinterFest yesterday, did a zillion things..even got to take a sneak preview of my cross stitch quilt the church ladies are quilting..guess I'll have it back in the next few days...
This lovely lady is the president of the group, says it's the prettiest they've ever quilted...perhaps she tells everyone the same thing but it was nice to hear...
Off to Walmart
Gab later
Susan, can smell that homemade bread from here this morning...
oh oh......... didn't make bread this am........ never got to watch the video, and I hear it's good.
I'll be taking the day to learn my new-to-me breadmaker tomorrow though - you can BET on it ^_^
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
With great regret we were informed of the death of Lorna's boss last evening. Services pending here in TBay.
~M~
Hugs going to you and Lorna and prayers for his family. May he now be at peace!
Happy Family Day everyone...
Now that I think about it, Family Day Stat. holiday isn't in every province is it? For those of us who have it off, enjoy...
Light snow here this morning and it feels not as cold..can't you feel spring right around the corner?
M sorry to hear of Lorna's loss!
Betty no Family day I think is only in Alberta and Ontario, maybe BC. I seem to recall when I still worked in Ontario the unions got it established in anticipation of the feds doing it and then it didnt happen but it was in the union contracts so still got the day. Or maybe it happened that way after I came to Alberta. Memory not so good any more for those work related things!
Everything going well here, enjoying watching some of the Olympic competition. Not walking the dogs myself has made me rather lazy which is not a bad thing but I do need to start getting out and walking. Probably wont be today though as it looks like there is a light layer of ice on the walks.
Have been spending a lot of time on the computer revamping forms and getting a database up to date for the rescue.But I took the whole weekend 'off' so need to get back at it this week.
~M~ please tell Lorna I am thinking of him, and her, and that I was saying prayers for him and her yesterday morning at service, and hoping his passing was peaceful.
They have Family Day in Manitoba too. I think this is their 2nd (?) year.
I'm going to do "home stuff" today, and maybe clear out my 2 computer/sewing room. Between the 2 computer desks and the sewing area, my small room is getting overcrowded LOL
Have a fabulous day, everyone!
~Susan~
Again .. your kindness warms my heart.
Not much happening, Lorna did her physio therapy stint, some days it seems more gruelling than others, today was one of those days.
When we came home I grabbed the camera and went out back into the garage to take some pics of the deer .. am including a couple ..
The first shows them tootling along the fence line ..
~M~
This last one is showing a herd of them 'chowing down'. We feed them corn .. there's kind of a 50/50 split here with people saying 'NO' to feeding them .. while others (farmers included) do put out feed for them once a day.
I enjoy watching the spring fawns grow up, and the bucks appear in all their antlered glory ...
~M~
I'd say "don't feed 'em by hand" but I also think they eat from the crops when they don't have enuff. 'Course some would say it's nature's way of selecting out the weaker ones and ensuring a strong herd....... but it breaks my heart to think of the little ones dying.........
"M" what a beautiful view...talk about being in the midst of nature...
Sounds as though everyone was productive yesterday..tell you, had I had a few more days to relax and enjoy I might not be coming back to work..
Don't want to quit yet but wouldn't mind doing part time..don't think I can talk the boss into it though...it's all or nothing!
Just a few fluffy snowflakes out there, windshield this morning covered in ice, it's -3 but seems warmer for some reason..
lordy it's been a nice winter so far in my neck of the woods..
WOooooooooooooooo HOOOooooooooooooooooooooo !!! We have WIND !!!! And .. it is a bearable one .. one that comes with that ever so TEENIE WEENIE whiff of spring attached .. OMG ... did I SAY that !!!
Took a trip to the dump .. always a thrill (cough choke) .. went to Tims for coffee came home and made a loaf of bread and beat Lorna at cards (well ONE game) :-)
Physiotherapy tomorrow and 'other stuff' .. the week is busy and I do not mind one bit :-)
Was SO ripped last night as we had gotten all set to watch the Westminster Dog Show .. was already to do so .. Bell ExpressVU and Shaw both advertised it and .. POOF .. was NOT on .. so disappointing .. will be the same tonight as well I guess.
Off to walk Lilly
Have a super evening
~M~
Find any treasures in the dump "M"
Sharon's dog won Best of Breed again, she was hoping for more but perhaps another year...had her female xrayed this morning, 6 little puppies waiting to be born either today or tomorrow..think she's more thrilled about that seeing as the sperm was from her most beloved dog - now 12 years gone to the Rainbow Bridge side...
Can smell your bread..have my breadmaker under lock and key..still trying to lose some weight..at a standstill these past 3 weeks, anybody got any suggestions how to get things rolling again?
Quiet day, just watched 2 movies that are actually at the theatre right now..I'm amazed...here's the link for those of you who can't get to a local threatre..
www.ch131.com
Going to the Garden Center and walk around, figure the $$ I don't spend on lunch buys me a 'pretty' lol and then back to crochet..so quiet here today with almost everyone gone
Hiya ^_^
No DUMP DELIGHTS Betty .. as a matter of fact the 'dump lady' frowns on folks messin about in her garbage .. mind you, there is a place for folks to discard 'gently used' items .. usually always something sitting there, but nothing I need .. I have WAY too much stuff already LoL
So .. I went to that link re movies .. before I download .. what should I know ? Obviously you watch it on the computer .. is there a cost involved ?
KUDOS to the max for your sister .. I see a Scotty won the Best in Show .. almost a Westie, but a bit bigger and with More attitude !!
Lots going on .. not gonna bore you with the details, suffice to say .. 'its ALL good'
Take care all
~M~
"M" no cost, no worms..great site...watched several movies yesterday and my workday just flew by..lol
Let Sailor out a few moments ago, almost seemed as though it was raining - light mist...had some freezing rain yesterday morning and some late afternoon..boy, talk about crazy drivers out there, none taking slippery roads too seriously...
How many of us feel we've had an easy winter this year? Not complaining mind you, sure has been enjoyable driving to work without worrying if I'd make it or not..
Coffee's calling...enjoy your day
Happy Thursday
YES YES YES !!!!!!!!!!!! Did I say YES, it has been an extremely easy winter here in TBay .. I have even gone so far as to go through pics on the computer of passed winters to compare the snowfalls .. UNREAL .. if it remains as mild as it is (+7C yesterday +3C today) the snow will be half gone. Course, that said, we usually have a ROGUE storm in March that lays us low for a few days ..
Will have to access that movie site when I have some time .. seems to be 'busying up' here almost daily !!
Seems you and I are the only posters in here Betty. Hope everyone is just busy with 'stuff' . Maybe watching the Olympics .. I do as well .. but .. I gotta tell ya .. I get breathless just WATCHING the athletes .. watched the XCountry skiing yesterday .. talk about pushing a body to the LIMIT !!!
Off n runnin
Enjoy your day
~M~
Im still here, just busy what with rescue work and the Olympics.Lots of curling which I enjoy watching.
Snowed Tuesday evening and yesterday morning- heavy and wet, glad others are doing my shovelling. Two yard jobs I really dont enjoy are cutting grass and shovelling snow! I pay somebody to cut the grass and the snow is a different matter-waiting for some of the new neighborhood kids to grow up and want to make a bit of extra money!
Wondering if folks are just busy or going off to the new Daves site? Got an invite but here is just fine for me. Dont know why people are making such a fuss when no changes have been made!
Have been making arrangements to transport a 15 yr old sheltie from Lloyd SPCA to Calgary - thanks to a flyball tournament in Edmonton this weekend everything has fallen neatly into place - she will be home with me Sunday night.
I get on both sites..... but I'm really busy with work, church, and quilting. I usually "lurk" on both site, actually.
I found out that I may be able to "disable/freeze" FB for a time, to get some of my "real" life back!!
How nice that everything is falling into place for the elder sheltie, and yourself, Carol ^_^
Susan
I'M Lurking too.
Ann
I'm sure glad you are all still here, my friends in the little box. Occasionally I do come out from under my rock and if you weren't here, I'd miss you.
Haven't been "over there" for awhile. It's harder to navigate and harder for me to see.
Betty, how to get off that plateau. surely I don't know, or I wouldn't look like the blimp that I am. Darn that honey in my keyboard is jamming me up here.
Carol you are my hero. Wish more people had the same love for animals that you have.
I think I caught up on all that I missed, but won't be able to comment on all of it. Dmail coming your way M.
Good new for me. I will be getting my eyes fixed this spring and should be able to see again, really well. Can't wait. And I am going to be a grandma again, which is even more exciting.
~~~ta da for now~~~
What's this about a new Dave"s Garden,I'm just a lurker.I get in trouble when I ask questions on the NE forum so I'm afraid I'm just too rude to be posting.That is how they made me feel when I asked a question, I'm curious about the new forum.JOY
I'm here mostly lurking as well. I've got over the bug I had after the trip. We're having a lot of change with in our church, not all good in my opinion, change is hard. It seems that we've had a steady stream of over night guests, glad we've got the spare room but boy is it tiring. I've also been a bit glued to the tv watching the Olympics. Yesterday both of us got news of someone we knew dying. Cheryl's uncle in England died suddenly 2 days after having a new hip put in. I lost a good friend that I met with weekly for the last 5 years. She was failing, but still able to walk her little dog. Joan died in her chair, here one moment, gone the next. She'd be happy to have gone like that. I will miss her.
I'm not spending much time at all on FB.
Echoes, good news, I"m glad you'll be seeing more of your gardens!
Marilynne, condolences on the passing of Tim.
Betty and ~M~ thanks for keeping this thread going.
and to the Cowgirls in Calgary, what good work you're doing.
Linda
TGIF ... another Friday has arrived .. and .. what sounds to be a PRE SPRING weekend is going to fall on Thunder Bay .. YAHOO .. I am so looking forward to walking the deer trails again and finding some sheds (antlers) .. one of these days I hope to post a pic of an 'ANTLER CHANDELIER a la Marilynne' ... hahahaha .. well .. I can dream can't I ..
Jazzed about your news echoes and wishing you all the best.
Linda .. thanks re your condolences to me, and right back atcha on your losses. It's gong to be a tough day for us tomorrow, but, we will get through it because I fer sure know from experience that life is certainly NOT going to stop for us just because we are grieving.
Joy .. we have had our ups and downs in this forum regarding posting 'oopsies' gone awry .. but .. for the most part, we're still all here.
Off to pour my ONE designated cup of coffee .. seems the caffeine is not a fan of mine .. but I LOVE caffeine .. sounds like the title of a song LoL in fact, there was a song YEARS ago about Blue Ribbon coffee/tea .. wonder if they even make it any longer ?
Take care
~M~
M I feel the same way about caffeine! When I was having chemo reached a stage where the only food /drink I could reasonably tolerate had to be caffinated. How many food groups do you know with caffeine? Chocolate here I come!
I drink about 3 mugs of coffee in the morning, after that dont bother. But my 'private nurse' who stayed with me after surgery has convinced me to switch. At the moment I am on a 2/3 regular 1/3 decaf mix. Next week will switch to 1/2 and 12 and so on.
Been rather warm here and things melting which of course creates a nice icey problem the next day.
Enjoyed the curling and figure skating last evening - I really like watching curling on TV. Canadians still undefeated.
Afternoon everyone, hurrahhhhh it's Friday and in a few hours I'm homeward bound, going to play inside..must get all that out of my system because spring is just around the corner...omg..could almost go walking with a spring coat today..aren't you all just thrilled...
Carol, don't take the compliments lightly, you really should be proud of what you are doing...it's a time consuming and am sure it's a financial commitment as well..the lady in my area that does much as you do had a slight stroke, not sure that anyone will take over for her...sad really!
Joy, not sure what to answer you ...know a lot of dg gardeners are going back and forth..I've visited a few times, but this is my home, where my friends are...guess I'll continue here till I'm the last and then venture off in other directions..
Sure do value all your friendship..we come from different parts of Canada but I think of you all as my friends..enjoy coming to see what each of you are up to and I imagine bore you with my endeavors...lol..but you are kind folk and listen away..when you don't post for awhile I always asume I've bored you to death...
Linda, so sorry about your friend..you'll miss her terribly..what a way to go though, just dream off into never/never land...hugs for you and prayers for her family..
Echoes, oohh a grandmother, how exciting for you, how many will that make? Is it lazer that you'll be having on your eyes..mom had something done a few months ago and she's not pleased at all..but that's my mom..lol..says she can hardly do cross stitch anymore..my thoughts on it are you can't cross stitch for 12 hours a day, especially in the evening when you have to strain your eyes more..no wonder the lady can't see...(don't tell her I said that please) - you've got honey in your keyboard???? on high diet days I'd be licking it up....
haven't been watching the Olympics a whole lot, of course when you are in bed just before 8pm you don't see much...
Well, girls just came in, it's my lunch time...be back in a bit...
I'll leave the coffee on and the donuts..if I can't have donuts I may as well share with you all....
Whoa .. time to sit me down for a moment ... ya know .. it never fails, you get going on your 'schedule' and .. POOF .. it becomes a GLOB of doo doo LoL
First it was the fact EVERY single handicapped parking space was ocuppied at the hospital .. that's in EXCESS of 40 spots .. none close at any rate. So .. we had to park a fair piece away .. BUT .. the walk to and from the hosp for Lorna to have bloodwork was awesome .. springy day here .. melting snow .. chirpin birds .. the while deal ^_^
After that we went and had the car washed .. it was almost totally coated in SALT .. the wait ? 25 minutes to get in .. 3 minutes for the wash ...
Off to lunch .. again .. 4 handicap spots .. taken .. but .. that's okie dokie .. get into the Chinese Restaurant .. it is PACKED and .. it is H O T in there like you cannot believe .. people are fanning themselves with the menus .. since Lorna (and me a little) are doing this HOT FLASH thing .. that restaurant was a HUGE no no LoL
Tried one other restaurant .. again .. no parking and PACKED .. am unsure as to why the places were full .. ?Friday?
Anyway .. we went to Wendys and ate in the car LoL
Tomorrow will be the funeral for Lorna's boss .. we have the 'outfits' out and checked .. plan to leave VERY early as it is going to be a big service.
Am hoping all of you are going to have a very nice weekend doing whatever it is you like and or want to do .. ENJOY!!
~M~
Echoes - Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay Grandma! and Yaaaaaaaaaaay getting your eyes "done" lol Bet you're excited on both ends of the spectrum!
I'm sure it will be a lovely service, Marilynne - take care, and God bless!
Well, it's off to make supper, I am........ cya later!
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
Marilynne, I hope the service was fitting and that in some way helps with your grief.
Betty, don't assume that you've got us bored, I'm always amazed at the projects that you have on the go.
I would love to have the energy that Ann in Ottawa and Fancyvan have.
If you've been watching the Olympics, then you've seen our sunny weather. We were going through photos yesterday, looking for a couple specific ones and found Spring photos from 2008. We're a month ahead this year compared to 2008. There's people mowing lawns! It's lovely, but in 2008 we had a day in April, that we had snow.
Off to walk the dog and get a Costco hotdog for lunch.
Linda
Morning all,
Not planning out my day, did so yesterday, had 3 sewing projects I wanted to work on, by mid afternoon I had traded by sewing machine for a snowmobile machine and enjoyed myself tremendously..had forgotten how much fun they can be, especially on a perfect sunshine filled day..
Greg called and asked me to go out with he and Kyle (grandson) up the lakes to my cousin, you know you get into the routine of just enjoying your environment and are comfortable, almost said NO..am I glad I didn't...
Here's me and Kyle, I'm the one waving to you
Linda, thanks for the kind words, sometimes being on my own makes me chatty so I like to go on and on and on....just skip my posts when they start getting annoying..
"M" yesterday morning early I was at Walmart..nobody shopping yet, I had to shake my head, 4 or 5 handicap spots in each row, then 2 spots next to them for people shopping with children, then the gates for the buggies, lordy you are almost home by the time you can park..don't you think they should include early bird parking..I'll have to mention that to the manager..
Well, better get to my projects, the lapquilt top that I had laying in a drawer got taken out Friday, tied it yesterday and this morning I'll put the binding on..told myself I couldn't start new projects until I finished old projects...that ought to last about a day or two...
Oooh, Sharon's dog had 6 pups...5 males and only 1 female..Sharon's not thrilled about that..she wanted a show dog and with no choices who knows if this female can be the next 'best of breed' for her... most have homes already, she doesn't breed unless she has..
I'm hoping it's sunny in your neighborhood and that you've much to do that brings you joy...
Yeahhhh for the spring like weather..no signs of snow again for this week coming and by then we'll be into March and it's all but over..
