Countdown to spring! One garden photo per day - Part 5

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pirl you might be right... I knew it had something to do with candy

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

you have a good eye!!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes she does...
Great shot pirl, thanks!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh my I have a lot to catch up with here today already. Let's see since I last looked we have had more pretty poppies from JoAnn.
The tulip Miranda and some muscari, even their names go well together, pretty.
Two lovely azalea, one each from Jen and Venu that would also look nice together.
Venu's extra post and Pirl's comment made me smile and onewish's creeping phlox made me long for spring even more.
JoAnn and Venu both add pretty iris pics, one without a name and one that needs an easier one.
Victor posts a pic of a honeysuckle I really need and makes me drool all over the keyboard.
Some people get away with sp. errors and some don't and Bill shows a beautiful hosta for us all to enjoy. There did I miss anything? Love this thread.
Oh dear I type too slow more beauties from WC another lovely tulip and from Pirl a dainty L. iris. Very nice all.
Here is my pic for the day. Iris 'World Premier' from early June.

What a beautiful photo, Pat. Some irises really remind me of beautiful frilly dresses on little girls - yours is one of those!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

That's a nice one! I could use a couple of doz of those!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

nice iris pat

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The iris I posted is a short one, only about 14 inches.
I bought it at an Iris farm near Trumansburg. They dug a huge plant right from the row. The next year when I wanted to buy again they were gone.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

can you count down to spring a little faster please hahahhaha

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great tulip color, WC. You have lots of tulips!

Beautiful iris, ladies.

I purposely make typos just to make everyone else feel better. ^_^ I used to tell the electricians and techs who worked for me that they screwed up (though I didn't say 'screwed!), but I made 'boo-boos'!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks everyone. I do like this iris and I think it is just a tad bluer that the pic shows. The only problem I have had with this one is that it always seems to bud up and bloom just before three or four days of rain. So I usually end up losing a few blooms to the mushies. The slugs got after it as well as all the others last year before I knew what the little slimers were up to. Enough have survived so I am hoping for some pretty blooms again this year.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Another daily bounty of beautiful blooms. Wha, that Hosta is perfection. Victor, I have Serotina and it doesn't give me such a great bloom. Do you give it any special attention? Pat and Pirl, gorgeous Iris both! WC, that IS spring caught in a photo.

Pirl, I'd have trouble spitting out that name after one drink :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

None at all. Just full sun.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Maybe that's it. Mine is in dappled shade.

Onto June

O I was still hoping to do spring flowerjen. I am holding back on the iris but I will tease with a hint of June. One of favs heading into summer. Miss Kym who usually flowers before our Lilac Festival the first weekend of June but not this year.

Is Miss Kim a dwarf? I have her but she is still a tiny bit of a thing. My advice, Bluestone is great for perennials, not shrubs.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Miss Kim is one of my absolute favorite, for it's spicy scent alone. Lovely picture of her.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

O forgot to say droooooooooool about the continual beautiousness happening on this thread. Luving it, luving it, luving it. Did I mention that I'm luving this thread?

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

My Miss Kims top out at 6-7 feet, with a similar spread. Not a dwarf.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Oh my, I might have to move her eventually. 6 to 7 is definitely NOT dwarf!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Yupper Miss Kym is a dwarf 3-5 feet. Mine is pushing 6 but she is in premo conditions. Wait for her venu. She not only is an outstanding bloomer she keeps a nice natural shape and being a hybrid doesn't sucker.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

O wow thanks Polly. I stand corrected. Doesn't get that tall in my zone.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great color on that, NuttyD!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Well, Dnut, anticipation is one of the great things about gardening!! It will be interesting to see how big she gets for me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good companion for L'il Kim hibiscus?

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Well D'nut, you said yours was pushing six, so certainly not much different. Miss Kim was always touted as a dwarf. I suppose it could be kept pruned to a shorter height. In fact it would probably flower well grown like that.

And I really think a premo condition for growing miss Kim is in the ground.

Here's the Kemper Center stats for it, 4-9 feet tall, 5-7 wide. Mine are elderly and no where near the nine feet.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Methinks yours will get tall like Pollys Venu in your zone. She is so gorjus though you will just have to move her to a spot for tallish things ^_^

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

9 feet EEK! I shall have to have a serious discussion if mine even thinks about that! Sorry about the 'premo' thing. We have been in drought for 6 years so Premo here means that something gets water.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Yup, that's what I meant about premo for a Miss Kim. Although I don't think mine even gets that much special treatment.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Pics please of yours this spring Polly.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Will do.

We have a Daphny lilac, not much for color oe scent. Other lilacs here are being revived by DD.They are almost dead from the center out.
This house was a rental for too many years.
I'll continue spring with these red NOID's as I have recently learned, they are probably on their last year.
