Countdown to spring! One garden photo per day - Part 5

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I spray for beetles.Had no problems last year.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Rose! :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Me too, the key is to spray the soil too before the plants pop up to tall and continue every 3 -4 weeks approx.

Only one vendor has "Carmen" and they consider it RED! But if you look at the pictures they show, the 1st pic looks just the same color as mine.

I use Sevin and Bayer Rose and Insect spray.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and use chems.
I also use Pixies spray plan.In spring when plants are just emerging and then every three weeks. The beetles have a 2 phase life cycle.
I found this method on the Lily forum last spring and I doubt there were 2 beetles on my whole property.
It has encouraged me to plant more lilies.

Very pretty!

Bayer rose spray seems a good idea. DH would not go for sevin as I have asthma, I should not get near sprays. thanks for the information.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks!

'Everything Plus' is a great iris, grows well.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I bought it in one of those grab bags.. can't beat the price either!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Neem oil is supposed to work on the Red devils too. I hand pick and keep their population down, but it is a shame that such wonderful plants are now under attack. Soapy water will wash off any of the nasty offspring that survive. The eggs are bright red and usually under leaves.
Nice sedum. I like the color too. Yellow roses get me every time Venu.
Lollipops are very sweet and the iris is gorgeous and a deal, wonderful.

This is from early June. The newest bed and the one that is getting an extension this spring, the yellow/blue garden.

Nice hosta, cornus and double daff you all, drops or not. I have raindrops in a very large percentage of pics from last season, it was hard not to have wet blooms.
Now to the important stuff...so when was Victor cloned and how many of him are there? May explain his wonderful gardens. Hmmmm? Oh and WC has two of him also? LOL

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Won what, I thought it was 'Seven' the movie! (lol)
