I'll get it then!
10:24 Dinner is served! DH just named his new cooking show: "The Midnight Masterpiece" by The Slow Chef.
What for dinner? Pt 3
Good title for a show!
Couple of small porterhouse steaks tonight with a small baked potato and salad, not too hungry this evening, after DW's awesome brunch today...
I heard of slow cookers before...
He wasn't happy that I broadcast his show name on the internet. What if somebody steals it? I claim dibbs!
He's a slow cooker, alright.
how is it possible to slow cook steak? :)
harper i think my wife adds a cup or so of water, or about an inch deep in the pan and will add more later if the level goes down
You can add water, saute' until just start to soften or nuke 'em before you put them in the oven.
Penne and hot/sweet italian sausage with spaghetti sauce tonight. Maybe garlic bread if I feel ambitious.
Finally had my suffed cabbage last night.
Tonight I think pork chops and sauerkraut
Friend had a BOGO coupon for Ruby Tuesday's! Was treated to turkey burger, fries, salad bar---yumm! Leftover to be consumed later! :-P
spaghetti and meatballs w/whole grain italian bread
Spanish rice with gandules.
gandules?
Thanks Bill. I'm planning on making roast chicken next Monday night, so I'll be ready! I have NO IDEA how it can take him hours to make a steak. I think something fishy is going on in that kitchen!
DH is cooking tonight again, but he promises it will be early. He wants me to make the salad again. No sweat. He says he really wants to be in bed by 10pm. We'll see...
pigeon peas. never heard of them. I'll have to try them sometime.
That's not a bad idea, I have some leftover rice with pigeon peas. I'll just heat that up and fry some pork chops in olive oil with small salad and I'm good to go...
broiled chicken w/corn
harper check the levels on the wine bottle
Bill, I don't have to check. That's definitely a factor.
If I had to wait that late to eat, I'd be toasted myself!
I've never seen pigeon peas, do you put them in the rice?
Sometimes on the nights he cooks, he'll make me a drink... and, yup. I'm toasted by the time dinner's ready.
Yes, Deb. When I male the Spanish rice, I do it with pink beans, pigeon peas or Vienna sausage. Occasionally, black-eyed peas.
How do you "MALE" spanish rice?
I've made red or black beans with rice
That's personal, Harp.
I love black beans - but not prepared this way. We make it with white rice.
Eeeeew. I'll pass on the spanish rice at your house!
hee hee
I'm going to do the pork chops and kraut tomorrow
I made
creamed sauteed mushrooms with spinach, artichoke and penne
Sofonisba, I had the same thing happen to my veggies in the past. Not sure why that happens, maybe it's a glass pan? I think when it happened to me I had used a glass high sided baking dish. The way it worked well this time was on a large metal baking sheet. It was also the reason I decided to drizzle olive oil over the veggies and seasonings too. Basil Garlic Powder, I think I cheated and used Lawry's though. Guys seem to really like that seasoning. I've never met a man that didn't like it. My dh loved the veggies. And to be honest I put the veggies right up against the sides of the chicken, I didn't actually put the chicken on them. I just thought it sounded like a good idea after seeing all those juices that could have been dripping right on top of them. mmm I did have to stir them a coupleof times and they had started to stick. I didn'tput any water but I also put softened butter on the chicken which I'm sure also got on the veggies.
The rice came out really well! I make the black beans separately from the white rice, as opposed to this where all cooks together. The black beans are made with garlic, onions, pepper, water and a bit of red wine vinegar - maybe one tablespoon. Really delicious.
Meredith, I do use a glass pan. Next time I'll be adding water and using a bag. I'll report the results after it's done.
Sounds good Victor.
Now I want some black beans n rice
on to part 4....
