GE, the tallest plant stakes of that type I've seen for sale at Lowes & HD are only about 4', which is not tall enough for the really tall lilies. How tall are your tallest ones and where did you find them?
January 2010 - still celebrating our gardens
After I posted I tried to remember where I bought them.Thats the first hurdle.
It was a garden supply place in Vermont I think.I used to get news letters fron him.
Let me try again.
I think my looped ones are 4 feet and I used 1/2 inch rebar cut to length for the tallest lilies.
My grandchildren would totally freak out if they were that close to a frog. I sculpt several plants in my landscape. I love to see the branches. I will take a few photos when our rain is done and show you.
Now Sharon, isn't that a shame? My sister's daughter won't eat anything she sees me pick from the garden, because it was in "Dirt"!! I would never tell that kid there's manure in that dirt!
We have tree frogs, and a bunch of other kinds. Often when we go into the house at night, they'll be one hanging under the light. Some are so tiny, and others are psychedelic colored.
It is cute how the frogs seem to talk to each other, Mary, and Holly.
What a great pic - looks like he's making a wish on the frog.
RCN, you bugger, you've been holding out on those garden objects.
LOL, I know, I know, I've got to get back to the MA forum and post the pics. I've got even more :( I had so much fun giving my suggestions to family last year for Christmas gifts (and even more fun receiving them!) that I did it again this year :) The bird bath I received from my son was intended for the Heuchera garden but it looks so nice in the corner by the front door it might just stay there!
I took some time yesterday to go back and read through all the "celebrating" threads - Wow, I've missed out on a lot!
Carolyn, I saw the picture of your little greenhouse and I think it's the same one Rick gave me for my birthday. I can't wait to get it set up and start my seeds! Last year I got so involved in outdoor projects in March that I never planted my annual seeds until July.
Speaking of birthdays, I didn't miss Stormy's but I did miss Polly's - Happy Belated Birthday!
Jo Ann, I even visited all your photo links - lovely! Question...I think Stormy might have asked you the same question but I got lost in the threads and can't find the answer! What is the name of this Lily:
http://picasaweb.google.com/jgentle4/GardenBestShots2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCI6Cv6eXm_P8hQE#5412839945307071730 and is the one in the upper left corner here the same one? http://picasaweb.google.com/jgentle4/GardenBestShots2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCI6Cv6eXm_P8hQE#5412840076522374242 I'm planning to plant some new Lilies around the new arbor steps and this one fits the "theme" :)
These are the lilies in the big album

RCN48 -
my little greenhouse has been a God-send. I have done everything from starting seeds and cuttings to holding over some of the more tender pond plants. Right now, in addition to the pond plants, I have a couple of orchids growing in it.
Holly - I really love the picture of your Grandchild with the tree frogs.
mornin all
Good Morning to you too! ^_^
Good morning and thank you, I think! I've been looking for Lilies all morning :( First Crown is the one I liked the most - it's hard to find! B&D is sold out and the only other place I could find it was The Lily Nook - in Canada :( Great price ($7.00) but the $15.00 shipping PLUS $15.00 Phytosanitary Certificate quickly changed my mind!
Try The Lily Garden

Thats a shame, they do love water.
Oh my I just love that collage Just beautiful GE
Really nice combo, GE. I find that to get Astilbe to take, you have to constantly drown them for their first two years.
I agree. I transplanted a 2 year old and i doubt it will live because it withered away where it was.I am sure I didnt water it enough
I know the two years of drought took a toll on the Astilbe here. Hopefully after last year's bounty of rain and all this snowfall, the ground will be saturated enough to give them a good headstart this year - either that or they'll drown! Just in from walking through the snow to survey the gardens - one of the things I didn't factor into all this snow was the dogs. I encourage them to go out and play in the snow but now I'm seeing where they've enthusiastically romped through some shrubs barely showing above the snow and there will plenty of broken branches to prune once it's all melted :(
We have rain showers again today. My trees and landscape think they have moved to Oregon.
