Rick is supposed to call me when he gets to work. The dear Lord only knows when that will be.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Rick made it to work ,but it took him an hour and a half.

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

Synda, the bus came and got the older kids today but not the little ones...Craig took them to school and it took 45 minutes to do that! Nasty Nasty Nasty....glad Rick is ok.......hope it clears up by the time he's off. (well he's always off but by the time he quits work! lol)

Battling asthmatic bronchitis here and on three meds....he couldn't do an xray to see if it was pneumonia but says the meds he as me on should work if it is..........I hate being sick! blah!

Crissy, don't wind up in the same boat....if you must have that cyber break, get a space heater for when you are in there...right now we are using kerosene heaters to take off the chill of this old wind ridden farmhouse...

Oh, and if anyone wants a cute adorable puppy.........we have 16......yeah.....PUPPY FARM! (from two mothers but I think one bred with a cow because 6 of them are spotted just like a holstein!)

I am putting on another pot of coffee for those who want...and setting bailey's on the counter for those who don't.......
Western omelets and whole wheat toast for breakfast...yum! but no cheese, just lots of veggies...gotta start somewhere right Jaye?

Take care all, and stay warm.

Julie

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning everyone!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

morning, a frosty 20 degree in alabama, which is warm compared to saturdays forcast of 5 degrees. and then the prediction of a snow storm thursday

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

synda, you are a riot with those pics. Thank you so much for the laughs. And girl, you got your days and nights mixed up. I had to look again at the time on your post when you said good night. LOL

Hi Jaye. Yes, we are getting hammered pretty good. The Saints aren't doing too well, that's for sure.

Geez, we are having lows of 25 and going down to 19 degrees Friday. Thats what they are forecasting, but I am going to ask The Lord to not let it get so cold. Thank you Lord for the beautiful sun that I see coming out. My feet are freezing. I guess this little barefooted cajun better put some socks on. LOL duh! I just don't know how you folks up north stand it.

Marion, are you still going to do the festival this year?

Ahhhh. That's much better. I put on socks and now I am sitting cross legged in my computer chair and sipping on some wonderful hot cocoa that my secret santa sent to me. God is good. :)

Now that sweet Marion is what you call dribble (my post). But it is so good to have precious friends to curl up with and share your day. If you ladies were here, I would make you some biscuits and hot cocoa to warm you up. And once you were all warmed up, I would break out the winter sowing stuff and you could help me finish it. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning... too cold to be anywhere but home.
Poor Midwesterners... supposedly to be hitting temps below minus Wonder if schools will be closed.

Synda, glad Rick made it to work. When you're reading this at 10.00 that means you're not in bed. Get some rest sistah!

Wonder if Donna will be taking a longer time reaching her work?

Thanks Julie for the coffee and wheat toasts. I'm still on the 'clementine' diet. Helps with the sniffles.
Bonchritis is no fun... drink lots of liquids please. I'm sure you being wise, will follow doctor's orders. Got to put that pneumonia at bay.
Goodness!!! Mini holsteins that bark!!! Awwww wish you could take a pic of them.. but don't step outside please....

Welcome back Sistah Judy!!!!!! Giant armwrap to you too! Happy now that you and Steve and the whole gang are back home safe!!
I bet you're missing Deborah already?
Got your name up there and looking forward to your beautiful holiday pics.

Have a warm day everyone. If you have to be on the roads, be safe driving please.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahhhh we cross post Sis Debbie.
Saints didn't care whether they win or lose with the Pats, that's why they sat Brees out. They've already clinched their division title.
I'm pretty p.o.d that OUR Tigers fell in the recruiting ranking. Ask your son whether we need to get Myers to replace Miles. With Cajun joie de vive living, he won't have too much stress in Louisiana!!! Lol!!
And yes to your biscuits. Pass me a plate please.
Errr... I need to finish a quilt block that should have been done last year!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trisha, I forgot the eggs. Just wrote down the ingredients needed but didn't read the directions for egg wash!!!!
Still I'll be just buttering the tops. Hope that work this evening.

For those that have pooches.. here's Trisha recipe for doggie bisuits.

Basic Dog Biscuits

combine:
3 1/2 cups unbleached flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup Milk Powder

Dissolve 1 Tablespoon (1 pkg.) dry yeast in 3 cups lukewarm chicken or meat broth and let set 10 minutes. Add to dry ingredients and mix well. Roll out 1/4" thick and cut into shapes. Brush with egg wash. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 300* for 45 minutes. Then turn off oven and leave biscuits in the oven overnight to finish hardening. Makes 60 medium size biscuits.
(I made half a recipe and had a ton of biscuits). Porter loves them!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Brrrr, it is a chilly 25 according to the thermometer outside my kitchen door--in a shielded area no less!! I have slowly been replacing the original windows in this house with energy efficient ones and I do believe it has paid off!! It is cozy and comfy inside-now 3 to go and they are all done. Bad news is I think we are to have more of this weather come the weekend.

Have to make a quick trip to town for a few items but trust me it won't take long in this weather--well at least the sun has started breaking through so that should help some.

Thanks for the omelet, toast and coffee. I am stuffed--everyone is such good cooks here!! One day I might get up early enough to prepare breakfast--I am a lazy head.

Debbie, yes I am still doing the festival this coming year but can't make any promises after this one. I am starting to feel burnout and seriously thinking what I want to do --maybe just be a consultant for the group. LOL

Waving and send hugs back to Judy, so glad you have arrived safely back home.

Kathy, don't overdo it and stay bundled up and warm--hear me!!!

Trisha and Jaye, how are you recovering from the fall? Hope you both are much better.

If I missed anyone, I am sorry--sending hugs and waving to all.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Checking in...from cold, cold Ohio. Not much news here. It's been a great time for huddling under the quilt and reading!

Glad I don't live in Minnesota!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

me? Marion? lol

'fraid I've been lurking, and MIA more time than on....

Well, came back to work today with a bit of a startler..... the person who has been giving me a hard time here at work is apparently no longer working in the Chemistry Division (on the other side of the wall from me).
HOWEVER - that I found out that my boss is taking on the Chemistry Division, so he's Division Head of both Gen Lab & Chemistry now, which means I'm the secretary for both.
Add to that the Teleconference Administration I took on in Oct....... ladies - be careful what you ask for, you just might get it!! I didn't have enuff to do with only Gen Lab, now I have 3x the work, and I'm just back from vacation! Yikers!!
Back in July I was saying I didn't have enuff to do, so I Got it...... in spades!!!

Ah well, this too will be absorbed into my job description lol wish a raise came with it!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Afternoon everyone.....gray and raining and in the forties here. Feeling better today except for the bruise on my lower back and the jammed elbow. Think I may have to go by JoAnn's and look for some yarn to keep me occupied until the elbow gets better...I can't just sit and do nothing.

Hope everyone stays warm and all the sniffles and ailments improve soon.

Judy,Glad you are safe at home.

Will check back in a bit, Bill just finished making Poached Eggs and toast for brunch and I am starved.

PRAYER EMERGENCY

As we speak, Faith, Randalls' new calico kitten, it up a tree. 80-100ft up.

As I left for exercise class this morning, she darted out from under my feet and took off. She usually returns within 15 mins. Asked Ruth, who got home at 3:30, to go looking. Ruth found her about three feet over the property line yowling in a loblolly pine on one of the first branches, but even that is WAY up there. Neighbor's dog may have chased her there.

She is crying and crying, pacing the branch. Ruth has seen her go up a few trees, but never so high she didn't jump to get down. We don't know as young as she is if she knows how to climb back down. That's what it looks like to us. It looks like she wants down badly and is trying to find something she can jump onto, like other nearby lower branches, all too far and too small.

It is bitter out, the sun is minutes away from setting. The firemen told me how to open can of tuna to lure her down. Even they can't reach her that high up. It is agitating her, she's trying real hard to find a way to jump. It's due to be cold enough to force her muscle strength to shut down, and she's completely exposed up there.

PLEASE PRAY GOD GIVES HER THE INSTINCT TO COME BACK DOWN THE WAY SHE WENT UP. if she jumps after dark, we won't be able to see her to catch her.

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

Oh that is just horrible....Praying hard for that poor kitten.

Jacksonville, FL

Greetings from sunny warm Florida----NOT!!!! It was 29 when I got up at 4:30 and when I left for work at six it had dropped to 24! Hit a high of 40 this afternoon (heat wave!) and going down to the teens tonite.
I am soooooooo ready for SPRING!!! or move to somewhere warm (if there is such a place!) I am tired of dressing like Nanook of the north!

I am praying for the kitty! I don't know if the fire dept help out where you live--they used to her many years ago and quit doing it. My calico Ladybug used to climb high too but always came down of her own accord even when she was a kitten. I have never found her and miss her terribly - hopefully someone picked her up and is giving her a good home.

Everyone stay warm! I am making some Hot Chocolate so help yourselves--has marshmallows in it and a tad of Kahlua too!

Linda

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

I lived in minnesota brrrr. and i had to chop wood (split it) the wood stove is like no stove at all unless standing in front of it. have 2 e. heaters now. use.. still cold.. its a extra cold winter..

Sami pleezeeeeee tell your husband this glue is a miracle glue i can tell you more the lid broke off my crock pot says household on it E6000 it hold hold holds. i have used both.. it sealed bthe pipe under sink for me. the handle above till can replace it!!and the handle on electric skillet.. some things would throw away but not with this glue. lol... show him girl!!! lol..

Bonjon, they will come back down backwards, our's did it i watched watched finally what she did was very small.

Jaye i really need to make dog biscuts for our 2.. but.

everyone take care be well. blessings.

Raleigh, NC

Thank you all. please keep praying. she is still up there, and we just realized the large dog may have been coming and going out a doggie door all day.

Have been watching that poor thing howl and cry for 3 hours, until after dark. she keeps trying, like she's going to start down, but she doesn't seem to know how.

But Randall is with y'all, says she'll come down when she's ready. And that if she went that high, she's on her own. Since I'm the one that accidentally let her out, it's nervous wreck time.

Dark at 5pm, and getting colder by the hour.

Meanwhile, been carrying chicken soup and honey to oldest DD Bevin who is very very sick: cold.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I wish I had read this thread before DH went to Lowe's. I would have gone with him then, but there will be another time very soon. Wrote that down so I don't forget. Hope says E6000 is a miracle glue. If I keep saying that I might remember.
Got up this AM fed DH then got ready for my weekly trip to thrift store. As I was flossing my teeth, I don't do that often enough, the filling fell out of my front tooth. I was so mad, but insisted I was going to store. I just wouldn't smile at anyone. This is about the third time the front teeth had to have fillings, and I wasn't too surprised when I was told by the dentist I needed a crown on it. I wasn't going to go back to the dental group I had alll my work done by, just don't like the way they do business. Only good thing is they let me make monthly payments and no interest charges. Behind us is a small mini mall and there is a dental place there, so on the 13th I begin the expensive job. I like the idea of one being so close to home. Save up a few dollars and there is always someone right behind you to take it away. Medicare really does need to give us seniors some dental insurance.

Oh please little kitty come on down from that big old tree and into a nice warm house.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi all,
Finally fell asleep about noon.....got up at 4:00,started supper.Ryan came to wash clothes,he is spending the night. He is trying to get stuff moved and clothes washed up before he leaves for school Friday. But I haven't been sleeping because I HAVE to come up with $240 before Friday for the deposit on his dorm room or he has no place to stay.I can't sleep when there are things on my mind. And Ricks last pay and the next one are short $100 because of shut downs for the holidays. Before momma had her stroke I would of ask her for the money, but dear step daddy has became a real butt munch and took all the stuff out of her purse as in check book ,credit cards....ect.I told her today I would not take ice cubes from him if I was sweating bullets in H* !!........He made it very clear after momma had her stroke the when something happens to her we will all go our own ways. And he has been my dad for a third of my life.Guess I got the best momma in the world because the Lord knew I would come up on the short end of the stick when it came to dads....LOL.

Bonjon has the baby kitty came down yet?????? Faith is inn my prayers.

Trisha I wouldn't want the rain,but 40's sounds tropical here.......LOL.

Closing my eyes and daydreaming of this ~~~~~~~~~~~~

No. She is still in tree, but crying is weaker.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Sorry I went on and on.........I guess I just had to say it to somebody, you guys just happened to be here.......LOL,lucky you guys !!!!!!

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Bonnie that makes my heart ache........

Raleigh, NC

Randall now says she'll fall out. I think it's too cold and her muscles are shutting down. He thinks it's too cold, too.

I'm going back outside with a trouble lamp. Got too cold to stay out, but of us all, I've got the best cold weather clothing. So out I go in a minute. Because i"m sure not going to sleep until she comes down one way or the other.

Raleigh, NC

we cross posted Synda - don't worry, been in your shoes too many times to count. Maybe tonight, if you can't sleep, I'll check in here to see how you are doing. but I'm going to be mostly outside, as much as I can be.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I would be just like you........

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Bon, Prayers for your furbaby, and you.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

A rescue site I was just looking at said to use dog food instead of cat food if possible to lure the cat as is has a stronger smell.... also sprinkling the area at the base of the tree with used litter from the kitty's box...

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Any news on Faith kitty?

Raleigh, NC

Faith still in tree. Ruth took out food again at 9:40, as some other critter ate the first batch of bait food. Molly was outside again! I couldn't believe that, as old and shorthaired as she is, but it's pretty obvious she chased Faith up there. I rang neighbors bell and explained things. Molly followed me in their door, and they are keeping her inside tonight. She;s a wonderful old yellow lab cross with something bigger.

I stayed out there until just now. Brought the bait food in and am about in tears - it's frozen solid to the bowl. Randall talked me into coming indoors, says there's a chance me there is either scaring her more or she's staying until we rescue her, which we can't. She seemed to be crying to me earlier. Even with 5 layers on, I was cold enough to come in. Wind is picking up.

May be on here inbetween checking outside.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Dear, dear Lord to please show Faith her way down.
Synda, hang in there.. if Rick Warren can openly ask for help.. so can you. God hears pleas.

Just got in half an hour ago. We've been at my only gf's home, the church sister I was telling y'all about. This was the first time for us to spend hours with them.. going through biblical books... a nice supper... then watch the Fiesta Bowl. Kel didn't mind the clock one bit, even though he has to be up for 6 a.m. Nice thing is, his brother's in town to babysit their dad.

Not a good night until Faith is down... feeling your anguish Bon and Randall.

Raleigh, NC

She's no longer crying, and I can't see her. Nothing on the ground around the tree. I called and called for 5 or 6 minutes. tramped around. walked around the house, in case she had come down and hunkered elsewhere. Thought I hear faint mewing 3 times. nothing.

Sweet dreams, sweet sistahs. Say your prayers and get some sleep. His will be done.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Took a nerve pill and laid down with Rick, and fell asleep for a couple of hours.I feel bad that I don't sleep ,so I try and at least lie down when Rick goes to bed so he isn't aways alone.

Poor baby Faith......maybe she has fell asleep from being exhausted.Hopefully the light of day will bring her and I both a new light.
