yeah but i only got 4 last year from Diana - and i've ordered more than that from them - they are off the list :)
What Have You Ordered 2010
speaking of thousands - i completed my landscape journal yesterday with eveything i have a tag for from the last 11 years or since we moved in here - i will have to password protect that from my wife:) Well into 5 figures and it does not include a lot that i still need to walk around and catalog and stuff that died. scary
Hee hee. I thought you were there for less time for some reason. I am certainly well into five figures.
Thank you Bill.
Five figures is nothing. Just think what it would have cost, Victor and Bill, had someone done the landscaping for you.
i'll have to remember that:)
Just emailed my order for caladiums
Red Flash
Carolyn Wahrton
Gingerland
and the 5# mixed assortment.
Woohoo!!!
Just changed my order with Davidsans when i found out the 10 gallon Shirazz wiped out my whole gift certificate.
went with a 2 gallon Okagami, 3 gallon Purple Ghost, and 5 gallon Toyama Nisiki (unique variegated dissectum)p
With Topiary Gardens i have ordered beni komachi, red spider, and Sharp's Pygmy so far. Might order that metasequoia glyp ...........i mean dawn redwood gold rush - who has time for that latin name:)
You won't regret that! I think I have Sharp's.
sharp's was not on the list you sent me last march - as for the dawn redwood i would have to ask my neighbors if i could plant it in their yard - just grows to fast and gets to big - i'm sure they would let me :)
As with my wife, I don't tell you everything. ^_^
whatever
With your size property, why worry about the size??
more maples - more maples - more maples
They would go perfectly under the canopy of the redwood. I already have hydrangea and JM's in the shadow of mine.
You could plant it in my yard. Just sayin. (oh, that's in another thread) My bad! :)
Polly, LOL! That's funny about your husband asking for more curves. If I had a husband asking for more curves, I'd be telling him, hey, there's curves at my breasts, then more where my stomach curves out, then in, then the love handle, etc. How many more curves do you want? LOL!
Victor, nice idea to plant JM under the canopy of the Dawn Redwood. I will have to remember that when mine starts putting on some size.
Bill, your neighbors would let you plant a DR in their yard? Cool!
Karen
like i said more maples - added amber ghost and murasaki kiyohime to my TG order last night - that makes a total of 8 jm's and i think enough for a while - moving to the confiers - think there is enough left for 2 or 3.
would not be able to see it in your yard jan - karen you haven't seen my neighbors yard:) i give them plants/shrubs volunteers all the time, wish they would start planting them where i could see them:) will have to make that a requirement going forward
now that i think about it the dawn redwood could go near the shed - not really part of the "yard" i could plant it in front of the compost bin?????
It's a worthy focal point, believe me.
And by the time it's huge, you'll be long gone.
it would only be a focal point there if it grew a little - its off to the side and behind a hedge of burning bushes - same place the back from the dead forest pansy is - if it is that nice then it can draw attention to itself i suppose
Focal points can be large! Anyway, after ten years, mine is still very slim and a manageable height. Won't even be an issue for my solar panels for years.

Here is my Seneca order last year. Nice plants, nice folks over there in NY. Patti
Welcome home D-Nut! Hope you had a good trip back.
I like Seneca too Patti. They have some unusual plants that you don't see other places. Good quality plants and service.
off i go to check you list patti:)
Patti if you ever want to go to the Seneca plant place, come and see me
I'm just nearby.
They are great.I bought Anemone Sylvestries and Cyclamen from them
.
Thank Ge1836 and ngam. I was pleased with my first order with them last year. Like sending the business to the small indepentant growers.
Wha, if it is weird, I ordered it. No actually, I was very excited to see their primula collection along with those two interesting Hellebore's and the Daphne, plus a few hardy things from South Africa, where we are going on Wednesday. I will be heading up to Mason's hollow where you took me last year. I very much liked those people. They especially liked you!
I am trying to get a couple more orders done before I leave or all the yummy stuff will be gone. Plant Vultures everywhere. This one sometimes is at my house. Patti
looks like he is showing off for you:)
Have a safe flight and enjoy!! i am jealous one of the places i have not been too.
Count me in too - very jealous! What's on the itinerary? gardens? Sample some wines!
I SO can't wait to hear and see all about South Africa too Patti!
Yep, wine , big game, birds, gardens, hiking, history & museums and an ostridge ride. I am hoping to go swimming. I just have to try to keep up with Mom. I will post pictures if my computer works.
... an ostrich ride.... I'm greeeeeen about that. Are they saddled with a halter or do you just hold on to the feathers and let em go? I can picture you racing across the savanah on your trusty fowl. Inquiring minds need to know all the details about THIS GREAT ADVENTURE!
edit: oh forgot to mention what a koinkidink: I'm sipping on Sebeka: a South African Cabernet Pinotage to get in the mood ^_^
edit again: added the koinkidink part cuz it is!

Dahlianut, I have no idea, but I'll be doing it, if possible. Miss my quarter horse. Koinkidink is such a good word, and I imagine the wine is too. Patti
Seneca Hills is really close to me, only about 5 miles. But......they are not going to do open houses any more. Great plants.
POOOOHEY no open houses?
My GF 's went there a couple of years ago. They also have varieties that werent on the website. They said it was wonderful.
I had the idea they were a retail - drop in business but guess not.
patti LOTS of great white shark's off the shores of South Africa - just saw a nature show about it.
They have never been a retail drop in business Jo. After being there I can understand why. It's operated by two women, and trying to keep up the gardens and the six or so greenhouses has got to be quite the project. And even when I went for open house day there were only three greenhouses open. I think they usually had about six open house days.
Their species peonies are to die for.
Wha, I would love to go diving while there, but not enough time. I have never seen a Great White in the ocean, but zillions of others while diving, especially in the Galapagos. I fear Black Ice more than Great Whites.
Pollyk, Goodie, I ordered a Paeonia mlokosewitschii from them. I hope I get a yellow one.
I am working on an order from Annie's which will have high shipping costs, but she has a couple of things I have been wanting to try, so after years of looking and using her site for information , I am going to bit the bullet and pay the shipping from Calif. Here are the ones I really want. Of course she has quite a few others that might make the list and many things which I would love someday. Me Bad. Patti
Adenophora potaninii "Bush Ladybells" $7.95 $7.95
Calceolaria arachnoidea $8.95 $8.95
Campanula primulifolia $6.95 $6.95
Delphinium elatum 'True Wild Form' $9.95 $9.95
Eryngium venustum "Mexican Sea Holly" $7.95 $7.95
Galtonia regalis $8.95 $8.95
Hollyhock Alcea ficifolia 'Aunt Brownie Fig' $7.95 $7.95
Primula auricula 'Angelo Hayes' $14.95 $14.95
Primula auricula 'Flemish Floozie' $12.95 $12.95
Verbascum species 'Cotswold King' $7.95 $7.95
Angelica stricta 'Purpurea' $9.95 $9.95
Patti I think your peony (sometimes known as 'Molly the Witch') is apt to stay with you. Lost it here ahter a friend gave one to us. Love the yellow, but not as hardy as some peonies. We are zone 6a.
irisMA, I hope so as "Molly" has been on my wish list for a long time. I think it will be happy in my slightly warmer garden than yours if I tuck it in a sheltered spot on the south side of the house near a brick patio. I just hope I get one that has good yellow color as some don't. We shall see and hope. Patti
