Marking this thread as 'unread' as there are MANY things I must put in the 'Great Book of Lists' as MUST HAVES. The travelling Baby Book of Lists is full. Note to self: get bigger travelling Baby Book of Lists.
I have found the answers are so simple when you look.
A bigger book is a great idea.
Cousin Nut, you're so funny!
Karen
Oh nice combinations and selections JoAnn. You are going to have some mighty nice pots this season.
yes and I just placed my order with Caladiums 4 less. The prices are the same as if he was doing a co-op.
You're dangerous, Jo!
I cant believe how my checkbook is hemoraging, all in 1 day.
Maybe its over until Feb.
Better sell some paintings fast!
Love the flower in the lower right corner, whatever it is.
Rudbeckia 'Toto Rustic' , "Hot Chocolate' or ''Cherokee Sunset' maybe?

NOPE
Rudbeckia hirta Moreno, new from Bluestone last year. And that is the pic from my garden so the colors are true with the catalogue. I grow it with Campanula Sarastro
I like the darker tones of it, very nice. I was at least right on the Rudbeckia ^_^
I bookmarked the caladiums for browsing as well... the ones I got last year were great.. didn't dig em though
I grew some beautiful Caladiums back in the 90's, and saved the tubers. Unfortunately, they were not viable the next spring. Was prolly something I did or did not do, but was so long ago, I can't be sure.
my storage was not successful 2 years ago.. they were a mushy mess.. think the garage was too cold for them
They dont store well for me either.I just consider them an annual.
It's not worth it. They're relatively cheap.
DD thhinks it will work,we shall see.
I say nothing
I have heard you should let them dry out in the sun a bit before you store them, but do not let them freeze. Never tried it but it couldn't hurt.
too many catalogs! Today I got White Flower Farm, evil evil temptation!
Yesterday it was Burpee and Kitchen Garden seeds.
The day before that, Terretorial seeds, Pinetree gardens, Select Seeds.....
I'll be broke before Spring if this keeps up!
oh, that looks really nice!
Also received the WFF catalog and the Thomsen&Morgan seed catalog. I am maxed out already for this month, but still can browse and make lists, lots of lists. After all as Scarlet said...tomorrow is another day.
I have a wishlist from Bluestone saved and will send it as an order next month, then I will be done with plant orders.
EXCEPT RosyDawn coleus co-op.
I've learned to not say im done until im actually out playing in the dirt again. Im making list too.....lots of em.
I just ordered Tile for the bath remodel so no more online plants for me. I live in a area where nurseries and gardenstores are a stones throw in any direction.
Ge1836, you are so lucky to have great nurseries near you. I want to see that remodel when you are done. I am working on a Iris order for Aug. I also sent in a caladium order to CaladiumBulbs4Less in the classifieds.

I have had some luck saving caladiums, but only when I remember to dig them before it gets cold! This year I didn't do them all, just some in containers. I have better luck saving calla lilies. I do them both the same way. I just dig them and leave out to dry for a few days then I put them in vermiculite in lunch sacks and put them in the crawl space. I also store the canna bulbs which I just dig up leaving any of the dirt on them and then cut off the leaf stocks and then throw the tubers into black garbage bags (I don't close them up tightly, just fold them over) and put them in the crawl space. They always seem to make it wonderfully. Patti
This is the first year for saving any bulbs.
DD has the Dahlias and caladiums she want in boxes in he basement.
We shall see/
WFF & select seed came. Can't do any planning with a foot of snow--mind sees too much white.
When I lived in the country--I lived near the best greenhouse. It was run by an agency that supported and trained mentally disabled residents of a facility in a neighboring town. They used to obtain and grow the best stuff--and the prices were always the best. They even had greenhouse cats that knew the regular customers, and their vet bills were paid via customer contributions. I miss going there.
I just got the email from CaladiumBulbs4Less. I almost forgot about it, so I hope he gets good sales this year, not having a co-op.
I decided to go green and white around the pond. I got Candidum, Stardust, some tuberoses, and one of those big elephant ears. Now maybe some nice white begonias to go with them.
Sounds beautiful. Patti
I already have seeds from the SH co-op. Still going through all my catalogs. I love some of the new stuff in Burpee but they are pricey...I'm not far from their shop so I will pay a visit and at least save on shipping. Got my order in for my Caladiums, I gave up trying to save them years ago mine always got mushy too.
With a foot of snow on the ground , can't even vizualize plants, except irises of course.
