REALLY hoping the temps go up as predicted later in the morning tomorrow!

Stay safe and warm, y'all...........Barb

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

It looks like we have about 2" of snow here, but it's melting on the roads so far.

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

We've survived OK. Had less than an inch of ice where I live, but it was beginning to melt well before noon. Could have been SOOOO much worse!

Happy New Year!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

We only got about a quarter inch here, but at least it wasn't on the roads!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

geez I opened the Forum and saw Chantells new thread and this one too--scared the crap outta me- LOL

Central, VA(Zone 7b)

Yes, Sally, me too. Glad everyone is checking in. Stay safe out there.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Scared me too... thought Becky's mom had had a setback... happy to hear it was just a winter storm warning! We stayed home & safe here last night. :-)

We are getting it now. Has been snowing on and off for a week. Lots of blowing and drifting. They just closed Interstate 90 down, from our area up into New York. All fire departments have been called out to assist with the shut down. It is not good to be out on the roads. It is so cold that the ice melt for the roads is not effective and have been applying a cinder mix.

Here is a few pictures from outside, I am staying home!

Yes, there is a water garden out there some where!

Lady, That metal tree sculpture is beautiful! It looks great against your white fence.

Thanks Stormy, it's a snow gauge, but since the snow drifts so much it is not an accurate measurement, each birds beak is 6 inches. When it is up to the Cardinal (top) that's 3 feet.

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

ladyg, love that tree sculpture - how cool that it's a snow gauge to boot! Sounds like you're really getting slammed. I know your part of the world can deal with snow, so this must be a monster storm for you. Good plan to just stay home.

Most of the 17" we got on 18-19 December is gone, except for places that never get sun, and where it was piled by snowplows. It's just been frigid AND incredibly windy here - gusts up to 50 MPH yesterday and some today too. I'm staying inside as well!

Hope everybody's warm and cozy, enjoying the finale of this Holiday season, as 2010 moves in...

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

No snow, but cold and biting wind! DH and Samson came back from their walk earlier and even Samson was getting blown around...I'm wearing extra warm 'jammies while I'm working ^_^

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

As I sit here freezing inside, and freezing whenever I go outside, I thought I'd work on some of the snow/ice photos I took last month. This one was taken on New Year's Eve, after the ice storm. Brrrr - it makes me cold(er) just looking at this frozen dragonfly, one of my Haw Creek Forge critters.

Hmmm. Maybe I should be working on the spring and summer photos... ya think? ^_^

YEEESSSS!!

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

LOL! Through chattering teeth, I said to DH tonight that I'd even deal with the horrible mosquitoes if it meant I could be warm again...

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Boy, today's 25 degrees, no wind, and some sun felt almost balmy! Now to wait and see what we wake up to...Sorry ladyg, we are wimps down here in the South! You've got more now than we ever see in a whole winter!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Diva, your Dragonfly looks like he's been shivering. Today was definitely OK. Don't know about tomorrow.

Near Lake Erie, NW, PA(Zone 5a)

Sally, My snow gauge is almost covered. It is snowing again tonight and will continue tomorrow. I was out yesterday to fill the feeder and was up to my knees in snow. I had to break through a thin crust of ice, good thing I had on heavy sweat pants, the ice was sharp.

Diva, the dragonfly needs a Kleenex! LOL

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

We're down to just a few patches here & there, mostly grass, but my young neighbor is hoping for a snow day tomorrow... we're supposed to get more than 3 inches but so far have had just the teeniest bit, enough to lightly dust the road but not enough to show on the grass.

Near Lake Erie, NW, PA(Zone 5a)

Jill, your young neighbor could move here, but the weather has to be worst then this for a "snow day" sometimes there is only a 2 hour delay put up till the plows get out to most of the roads.

The snow gauge is reading 24 inches, but it is much deeper in some areas.

Wonderful photos, LadyG!

We got only a dusting, probably a bit more (or ice) in the mountains.. and yep, school was canceled. We had to have a ton more snow than this to even get a delay, let alone a cancellation, growing up in Pittsburgh!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

About 2 to 3" laid here.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

lovely winter walk, ladyg!! Gotta love it, we had two hour delay for two inches ghere this am!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Chris, I'm sure by now the lake should be frozen? Ric
