Your boys are growing older and you are a good teacher, I'm sure. The rest is up to you.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

sounds like they will be wheeling him out to the patio to look at the pond soon :)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Gorjus tulip WC!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Gorgeous water garden Victor! I was going to say you need some Japanese iris in there, but I don't see where you could fit a thing.

Or maybe you have JIs in there, and they are just not in bloom? I do see what might be beardless iris foliage.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Tee hee if there's a JI to be found, polly will find it ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

There are a few JI's there too.

Great tulip shot, WC. There used to be koi. RIP.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

:-O
What happened to the poor fishies?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Died a few winters back.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, I always smile when I see your DUH Pond. Beautiful. Fish were dumb to die in that paradise. Perhaps a Ensata called 'Flashing Koi' would be a perfect Iris for there.

Here is a May 6, 2009 photo of the some of the east gardens looking north through an Buddleja alternifolia that was pruned back to a better shape this fall by DH. I love this tangle of soft haze of purple blooms in the spring and again in the fall. Patti

Oh my you all have been busy. I have a lot to catch up on.
First off, Lynn most heuchs do not like a lot of sun but Obsidian can take it if it gets enough moisture.
Jadajoy a beautiful leaf shape and color on that 'Tiger Lily'.
Onewish, I like that combo of the apple green hellebore and pink BH. Very nice.
Kevin what a gorgeous formal rose garden, wow.
Bill shows another 'one of these days' shrubs for me. Love those sunny yellow flowers of the kerria.
Pirl that is a striking combination of plants as usual. What is the phlox down in the rt. hand corner?
Also like Polly's lonely tulip and D-nut's graceful bleeding heart pics.
Then comes Victor with his wonderfully landscaped pond that looks like a park setting at every season of the year. So peaceful.
A peppermint tulip with the light shining through from WC and a rustic fence that makes the perfect backdrop for spring bulbs from Patti. Gorgeous stuff everyone.
Really need it cause the view out my window right now is all white.
Here are some columbines, veronica and bleeding hearts. I think there are some creeping phlox in the back there too.

It's so nice to be able to come here on a snowy New year's Eve and be able to see all these beautiful gardens and flowers! Thank you all for sharing, and have a very Happy New Year!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

patti if you go to an ru i attend i can bring you a kerria - they tend to send off a lot of runners that i pot up - any new ones i plant go into large nursey containers with the bottom cut out - they like shade

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Very lovely setting and great use of color, ngam.

It's phlox Franz Schubert, my favorite.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh thanks for the offer Bill. I will be unable to go to any RU for a while at least because of my mom. I know they like shade that is what makes them so cool. One of these days I may hold you to that offer. :)
Thanks Pirl, yes I have Franz and he is my fav too. I couldn't tell if it was him or a pinwheel.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti, I just love your spring pics. Well, all your pics.

Victor, do you have a pic of the pond with the JIs in bloom? Yes Flashing Koi would be a lovely tribute to the dearly departed. I can't grow fish either. Tried one time, they froze, and I was heartbroken.

Patti (ngam), Your gardens are just so lovely. Very serene. It must be a pleasure to even be weeding in them. And hopefully a stress reliever for you.

D'nut, I think my screen name should have been JINut, or sibNut. I admit to being obsessed.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful settings, Patti and Pat!

I don't Polly. This was the first full year so only had brief blooms.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Ah well, nex year. It's the perfect setting for them.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll probably be adding more.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I would hope so, LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Would like to have varieties that will prolong the bloom season as long as possible!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

You can usually get about 6 weeks bloom total from the earliest to the latest.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not bad.

(Zone 5b)

you guys are killing me with those pictures! I'm never going to get anything to look that good! I have 3 months to plan, anyway. My stone wall is higher on the other side of the house, the lot slopes so that picture is the low side. And with the leftover stone I made a raised bed on the side and put rosebushes in there.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I've missed so much in the past couple of days, but if Pirl and Victor ever went into a landscaping design business, they would be billionaires!
Beautiful blooms all..we should keep this thread alive for the 2011 calendar!

How sweet of you to say such a nice thing. Thank you.

Victor can design and I'll do the work, okay?

Just look at that Echinacea showing off self-made color echoes - the green of the sepals and the green in the center of the seedhead! Great capture, Louise.

Between the three of us we'd have a fantastic clematis collection and if we could get Zuzu in on it we'd corner the market!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Those are such peaceful views Patti and ngam. Great shot of the ech venu! To welcome the New Year my earliest dahlia. Little darlin Suitzus Julie blooms in late May ^_^

Who has good dahlias online? Dnut

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Wow, that's really early for a dahlia! And she's a cute one. Thanks Pirl.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh I have a special soft spot when it comes to daisy shaped flowers and specially echies, very nice shot.
D-nut what a sweet little dahlia. I didn't know any bloomed that early. Pretty purple color too.
Columbine 'Cardinal Red', one of the few red blooms in my garden. When in bloom I couldn't keep my eyes off it. Had three of them, not sure all made it through the gloomy wet slug infested season last year. They will be one of the plants I will be most anxious to see return.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

ngam Cardinal Red is a beauty! If they don't come back, I can collect seeds from Red Star for you which I luv. http://www.swallowtailgardenseeds.com/perennials/columbine.html

My fav supplier is Ferncliff Gardens but CA so extra phyto charges for you. Swan Island and Dan's Dahlias are really good US suppliers IMPO but on the west coast. Pirl will know fabby easterly suppliers for sure. YOOOOO HOOOO Pirl.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh thanks D-nut. That site is quite dangerous, all those pretty pics at a time of snow for days and days. I think I will go back for more browsing. LOL
Onewish that is really pretty. I just love how the blooms have so many different colors.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I hate to sound stupid but is there a name for the small flowered Dahlias that grow in containers?
Under 3 feet hi?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Pulmonarias are a shadylady fav for me. Thanks onewish. ps One of my potential new neighbours is a horse named Barney (although I think his self name is probably something cool likeThundering Pride or Whirlwind). He is a little old for barrel racing but we watched the moon rise together and he seems nice. Anyhoo back to spring!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
