hot water is GOOD - just some cold Baileys in a glass to go with
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞177
Soon as I get back from Church....have a choice MIL gave me a bottle of Baileys for Christmas, I have a bottle of Brennan's and a friend brought us a bottle of Champagne yesterday...I can probably take care of a good deal of pain couldn't I?
Ohhh Yeah!
Ok, always look at the positive side of things.....when the weather gets so bitter cold we can not stand it any longer, always remember the germs that cause our other illnesses can't stand it either and die! So fewer maladies for the rest of the winter because of fewer germs! (at least it is supposed to work that way)
Trish, hot bath, Bailey's, and a soft recliner with feet propped up.............My prayer to your health
Julie
Trisha, please take care of yourself. Falls are not fun by any means (I am sure you know that) so take advantage of these next few days for rest!!!
I am just about frozen!! It was 37 at 7:30 but no idea what it is now. Perfect weather to stay inside for a day or so. Huge pot of soup going on the stove tomorrow. Just wish I had gotten some firewood for the fireplace. Duh, the blond coming through again.
I'll trade you. I'll take your 37 degrees and you take my 19 degrees with snow that I've had all day.
Sounds good for a couple of days!! I have lived where it snowed but many, many moons ago--still like to see it though. Trades on. LOL
You got it. I'm from Calif, where it never rains. The sunshine state. It'll take me a while to get used to this kind of cold.
Now, Trisha.. please watch out for the next few days.. there'll be more body parts hurting. My fall a few days ago, besides the sprained wrist, have also affected the left rib cage area. I felt the pain just yesterday.
So sistah.... Advil please. And do REST. We mean it.
Gentle hugs Trisha.
Synda, why do men lose weight so easy?? Rick's 3 pounds is like our 10 pounds :( So don't laugh too hard. He might have the last laugh by losing it in one hour!!!! :P
Julie, I think it's Susan that told me that the cooler months are also supposed to be healthy eating months for us. More soups.. more fiber.. more fruits.. so less colds?
Marti001, welcome!!!
I came from a tropical island, and been here for more than 1/2 of my life. Still not acclimatized to winter!!! Good luck!!
Yeah, send some heat our way Pegi. Can't wait for April to be here! My joints are smelling of Ben Gay!!
That's all we want too, Marion... soups!! It's down to 22* here and perfect for just gumbo or good old fashion vegetable soup! Any hot substantial liquids that can warm your toes right away!!! With some edible morsels!!
Thank God for Schwan's delivery truck.. our fridge is also stocked with their Tortilla and potato soups, just in case I'm too lazy to do one from scratch!!
You have a fire place? That's so nice... always wanted one. But not a smart idea now. Might have a cat roasting in the fireplace instead of marshmallows!!
Thanks LK and Susan. Will tell Hambone that there are songs dedicated to him!!!!!
He's moved into his new home, at no costs and will give him better shelter against extreme cold and heat. It's my old potting shed, that will be hardly used this year. Now why didn't I think of that before Papa Kel bought his fiberglass cave.
You're right Trisha.. I am so loving this dwarf German Shepherd.
Be warm y'all. Good night.
ROFLOL, Synda where in the world do you find all these?
Yes Jaye the house has a fireplace but we haven't used it but a couple of times in the 6 years we have owned it. These next few days will be the perfect days to do so but me being me, forgot to order wood. Oh well, guess I will just wear my sweats.
I am more than will to trade the snow for this weather as it is a dry cold that doesn't "go through" you like our damp cold does. Jaye, I have lived in Florida practically all my life and I still can't adjust to this type cold. Think I will be adapted but No--not me. You, too, take care of yourself from your fall. Tell Kel he had better take really good care or I am coming to get you!!!!
Trisha, ditto for you too!!
Off to bed, it is past my bedtime and the pumpkin is now in the drive instead of the coach.
Oh yes, I will take snow...and a big load of firewood.
And how true about the fall....beside the elbow I am starting to find more aches and pains and tender spots...tomorrow should be a lot of fun.
Take care all and sleep well.....
Jaye - I said that the colder climes don't have the tropical diseases, and Christmas is the healthier time of year because we eat nuts, oranges, and yams. Also most people drink eggnog, plus we eat turkey which is lower fat content. In fact, we eat a lot of things that are good for us. Trouble is, we eat too much of it, but that's another story.
The other thing is, we Canadians kinda hibernate (because of the cold) during the biggest food fest time of the year, which is likely why we gain so much weight then!! Did I say "then"???? hahahaha we gain weight during the fall in time for hibernation season, too LOL And don't talk to me about pre-bathing suit season when we all panic!!! ^_^
ah well, time for me to start thinking about going back to the gym, AFTER I finish my peppermint Aero chocolate bar...........
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
Well, I see I have missed all of you today and now you are asleep. My guys left for the races around 10am. I played on Daves for a little while and got so sleepy and chilly again. So I curled up on my sofa , with my big warm fluffy blanket 'for just a little while' AND SLEPT ALL DAY. Now what am I supposed to do. LOL
And yes Jaye, my son said the same thing about Les Miles yesterday too. He actually said, 'wonder if Les has a new job lined up'. And I love your cats watching Football. That is too cute.
Synda, loved the photo with the two little ladies in church. ROTFLOL.
Hi to everyone else. See ya'll in the daylight. :)
Hello - I'm still on. Actually just popped in for a moment before heading off to sleep.
Funny thing about the pic of 2 little old ladies - they look sooooooo like 2 of the UCW (elders) ladies of our church!
I'd show them the pic, but I'm not sure they 'd want anyone thinking they looked that old LOL (they'd appreciate the humour of the joke part, though!)
G'night, and sleep well everyone!
My last day of vacation tomorrow before going to work on Monday!
I've had a good 10 days straight off (some stats, and some weekends of course), mostly doing holiday stuff, but got 2 days of quilting in!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaay
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
Morning y'all. RDU airport is reporting 23degrees, with 12 mph winds from WNW, taking wind chill down to 12 degrees. It got down to 19 last night, and it's predicted to be 13 tonight.
we are frozen. This is not normal temps for us, not even in January. We seldom go under 20, and aren't supposed to go below 10 degrees. With the wind chill, it's going down to 3 degrees. Nothing we have is prepared for this.
Morning everyone!
Coffee is on. trisha, sorry to hear you fell like that! Wow, the nerve for some to walk with thier dogs un-controlled! Just makes me mad, and then she never said I'm sorry! Hope your feeling better soon!
Marion, 34 is pretty cold for you? We get down to about 34 at night, but it warms back up to about 50 for the day, so not too bad!
Good Morning!! I don't have time to catch up at the moment but here's what I did yesterday:
Dave's cousin Alice from Dallas was here for the Holiday so we went out to her house (her and her husband have a small house here on I think 10 acres and 80 acres in Daingerfield, TX) and had a ball. She served us a Mexican lunch then we had a Dirty Santa and Right Left Right and came home with a blue Snuggie, another blue blanket with snowflakes, reindeer, and "Peace" and "Joy" and "Merry" on it, a little tool set, and a Christmas candle set. We had a great time, here's some pics!
http://picasaweb.google.com/christinepix/20100103#
crissy I love the Right Left Game....we do that one at our Club Christmas Party every year. Looks like everyone had a great time!!!
I would love to see a video of my fall...can't figure out how I managed to hit and hurt in so many places....sore, but not as bad as I expected except for the right elbow, I must have jammed it pretty good! Guess I will look at Crochet Patterns today and see if I can find a simple one to go with bazillion different skeins of yarn I have floating around...if I get rid of all those it will clear out a large area of my workroom!!
Forties and extremely Foggy here today...supposed to have the next round of heavy rain come in later today....good day to curl up by the fire.
For now going to grab another cup of coffee and look for my crochet magazines...
Have a warm and cozy day.
LK, in the winter we do drop below 34 but not for long periods of time. It is different this time as we are having hard freezes predicted for about 4-5 days. High so far is mid 40s but the temps have started dropping already. If it was a dry cold I don't think we would feel it as much. Oh well, great day for staying in, catching up on several things and just relaxing.
Kim has one more day off so tomorrow will be spent getting clothes ready for work again. I will be trying to frantically be trying to get the last of the festival apps in the mail. Not a happy camper this year as so much wasn't done that should have long since completed by now. Just hoping for the best come March.
Trisha, please take care and don't overdo it. Same for Jaye. Where is she? Hope she is doing okay.
a quick hello from a freezing alabama
Less than 15 degrees during the night, have a heat wave going this afternoon, we're up to 26 degrees. Ya!!
Marion, my sister lives between Venice and Fort Meyers and she said it was really cold down there....They never get below 50 and she called to let me know she finally understands what I go through in the winter! yeah right! lol
I hope everyone stays warm. Trisha, just take it easy for a few days. I sure hope the pain goes away soon. And I agree, people should never walk their dogs in public when not on a leash.......and then to not say anything? That was just plain meaness!
Take care everyone.....watch the ice...stay warm...and dream of sunny days with lots of blooms!
Julie
Julie, then that puts your sister living around the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area, right? I was born and grew up in Punta Gorda and believe me it can get below 50 degrees. Then again I might can remember further back as I maybe a wee bit older. LOL
She lives in Englewood,....it's just when you say that, no one ever knows where that is. She has been there for about 20 years (since she was 12) and she said this is the coldest she has ever been since moving there when our mother transplanted her from Ohio.
Yeah right.... Marti.. time to bring out the suntan lotion!!! Lolol!!!
That's funny Synda!!! Yah.. where do you come up with all these funny pictures? Certainly bring much needed smiles to our faces!!
Sorry Susan. Proven there that I do have CRS!!!!!
Hi LK! We watched part of the Texas Tech game last night and thought about you liking to head up for San Antonio once in a while. The city's beautiful..
Hey there Sis Squirt.. I mean Kathy :D Hope you're feeling 120 percent better! Got my name for the towel swap.. thanks!
Am right here Maid M! Not too much in pain to remain seated for a couple of hours in church.. (Thanks to Advil). You're right about the dry cold. It's more bearable than this wet cold we're having. It will be down to 22 again here, expecting 2 degrees lesser.
Please don't be too hard on yourself. You always do the best you can and the organization will be lost without you. It will all work out come March! But then, until the festival's over, we'll be rarely reading your postings here.
Sis Debbie, I just can't believe Saints got whipped by Jack Delhome's Panthers!! I should be happy right, after all Delhomme's family's originally from Breaux Bridge!
So you crochet as well Trisha? That's wonderful. I can't follow written instructions well.. tend to lose the steps. Have always crochet with pictoral/diagram instructions, which is more popular in Japan and Europe. Think one crochet magazine has those kind of instructions.
What will you be making? If you're crocheting, that means you're resting? Yayyyy!!!
That must be an awesome night, Crissy! Something unexpected which turns out to be a good night for you both. So, there's another place you can visit... Dallas. It won't be an expensive vacation when you have relatives there.
Bonnie, I do hope it won't be that cold for you. Isn't it supposed to be 19* for RD, tonight? Did you make enough soup for tonight as well?
Bundle up sistah... wait.... just snuggle up next to Randall!
Well Pegi, at least your sweet peas will grow unhindered. You can talk of all the warmth you are getting. We'll just artificially create ours ;)
Julie, I don't envy you at all!!! You and Synda and Cookie.. and those snow bound... can keep the snow!! Have you watched Christmas Story. Now when I look at snow, I think of Ralph's brother being swathed in so many clothings.. till his arms couldn't fall naturally on his side!!
I think that man didn't apologize to Trisha, cause he felt he had handled the situation. But the Lord will create an incident for him to make him realize the wrong he did for not apologizing and checking on Trisha, to make sure she's alright.
But isn't walking a dog without a leash illegal in some states?
Some people just don't have all their marbles.. or 1 short of a six-pack?
Let's all save our pennies and buy a tropical island!!!
i'm feeling better since i went to see the doc. she has a pill for everything
Ask her whether she got a pill for getting rich?
You need to take it easy too! Don't be stubborn, leave some things in, around and outside the house, alone if it don't hurt them... just because you feel you can, don't actually mean you should. Takes time to fully heal.. agree?
We're off ot WM first, before church's evening service. Ran out of low fat milk and powdered cocoa. Think I'll also grab some yeast to make some doggie biscuits per Trisha's recipe. Gonna make the biggest one ever for Hambone!
See you all later!
Julie, I know exactly where Englewood is as I have family that lives there. Beautiful place and the last time I was there, it is growing like crazy. We spent our summers at the beach when I was younger. I can remember as a child having my Dad put "smudge" pots in our groves to keep the fruit from freezing. Later all of us bundled up in front of the fireplace trying to get warm. Oh how things have changed now.
Jaye, good to see you up and around but dear sweet one, don't overdo it--neither you, Trisha or Kathy. I think we all are guilty of thinking we are healed better than we might be sometimes and undertaking way more than we should. Any one guilty here? LOL Didn't think so!!
Humm, save our pennies for a tropical island--sounds like a plan to me. One with pirates? LOL You know me--gotta have a little interest here now.
Well, the festival will have to learn to do without me as I am starting to fell burnout after 19 years. I have found other things I want to do that doesn't require as much traveling. I am trying to post regularly but don't want to bore anyone with dribble. Well back to the database to update some information I received today.
Later and stay healthy and warm everyone.
Going to the iris forum as soon as I leave this one. Sorry everone is freezing while I'm enjoying the sunshine. It is 71 here and warmer outside than in. Sitting here I think I need to put a coat on or go out in the sun. I better enjoy it when I can because I know we are going to get more rain and cooler temps.
Tried to super glue a ceramic paper towel holder together, why is it so hard to get the glue on the right thing. I now have fingers that have spots of dried glue on them. My friend bought this kitchen paper holder while she was on vacation back in Iowa & Illinois. It survived all that time and when she went to wrap it up dropped it and broke the apple from the rest of the holder. DH said to use super glue, well that just doesn't work for me. So, rather than rant and rave I decided I needed some computer time.
if you want a glue to glue hold anyhting get its purple tube called 6000 think is.. i will check it out again i used it its amazing!! i did some plumbing with it pipe leaked it sealed it and holding other things together so good fast.its so cold i can hardly stand it.
Thanks hope43 I need something like that. I know on the Trash to Treasure forum the girls use different glues and I thought something like that would work, but DH said "no use super glue" well I just don't agree with him on this.
It is cold in my office, the hands get so cold I can't type at times. At times I wish I had a laptop so I could go where it is warmer, and right now that is outside. Boy, am I spoiled with nice weather, and I grew up in Wis. and Minnesota so I know how cold everyone gets. DH told me it was -40 in International Falls, Mn. I don't think too many people live there......have to check that out.
Hi all. Trying to catch up but it's so darn cold in this room I'm not going to be able to sit here. Glad you had a good time Trisha, and be careful with that side of yours! You know, there are some really good dogs who end up getting killed because the owners will not take care of the dogs.
I hope everyone is doing alright, I've got to get out of this room, it feels about 10 degrees colder in here than in the rest of the house. I wish I had a hot tub!
yes sis, she has a pill for itch
Pegi, if you have some clear epoxy, that might help too.
Sis Kathy... I wrote 'rich' not itch!!! Lolol.. I got plenty of Benadryl for that!
Crissy, don't get sick trying to connect with your online world.
Errr... Abbisgranma.... aka Maid Marion... I'm never bored when reading your posts. You lead such a full and exciting life.. wonderful kids.. smart grandaughters..then to that, add your unique humor, beaucoup common sense. So there.. who says you produce 'dribble'???
That should be me!! I was just telling Kel that DG is my social life. I don't have a job, have only ONE friend in this town, and hence not much to write about.
Yes I have the Lord, but He in His wisdom knew exactly what I need to keep me sane, and as I have said plenty enough, to validate that I exist!! And keeping my social skills alive!
So there... write all you want. You my dear are very much loved by me!
ROFLOL boy do I have you "snowed"!!! Well actually I was thinking the other day and the realization did hit me that other than you ladies on Daves whose company I value very much, my children and GDs are my life now. I do as I please, enjoy myself and feel very lucky that I was encouraged to join by my daughter and then got into swaps by none other than Jaye.
Kathy, if you find some "rich" pills--get a double batch please. How are you doing? One of these days, I am going to be caught up and will shock the socks off you with a call. Seems since the first of December is has been run, run, run and then with my son's accident with the truck it got even more hectic. Still waiting on the next move by the other party.
Don't you know it's not nice to fool a natural woman.... or is it mother nature?
Lolol.. Maid M. That's a big relief you won't be disappearing on us too soon. Of course, family comes first! We're here by the grace of intelligent cyber bytes!
New room ladies...
