Trisha, have you decided what your menu for the 40 odd guests will be?

Donna, if you could thread a needle and sew running stitches.. you can quilt!! You're in my dear.. and I'll include some 'scraps' so you could practise!

Cindy are you in???? You can make a simple lap quilt...don't require that much fabric.

Pegi, you're right about that. If he's snoring he's alive.. but Kelvin can tone down his jubilations on being alive! Lolol.. it's bad when the fur babies move AWAY from him when he starts snoring!

Oh dear Bonnie, Susan and Debbie.... I won't call your souls tortured!!!! Just like you and your spouses, me and Kel mesh very well.

I went through H. E. double L with my ex. One day, I got to my knees and surrendered to the Lord... proclaiming that I'm through with men, and the only way I ever remarry will be if He chose a Christian husband for me. So.... for all the times when I feel like pulling out the rest of the hair... I remember that the Lord sent him to me ^_^

Maid M., I'm still heeding your words you had wisely impart, before we left Dallas...
"Appreciate Kel, he's a gem.. you won't know what you miss till he's gone. So don't wait on that". Love you for that!!

Tonight, Kel took me to a local restaurant..... suggested we celebrate nothingness!!!
Now how sweet is that!
Must be because the house reeks garlic! Err, I had garlic soup on the stove.. chicken broth with slivers of ginger and whole garlic pods! Guess I got to cook that everyday!!

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

LOL, now Jaye, that's a cool idea. Stink up the house and he'll take me out. ROTFLOL. And don't kid yourself. Tortured I am not. I love that ole man the Lord blessed me with. I give examples though, for the younger ones to know that it really gets awesome as time goes on and it is always worth the effort. Kiss Kell for us, for being so sweet to you. HI KELL. Good move on the eating out. LOL

And Jaye, did you count me in?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Got you sister.. along with LK, Susan and Maid M.. and Donna of course.
Sis, this man loves me so much, he switches from being a Clemson fan to the Right one... Geaux Tigers!!! Lol!!

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

You go Kell. :)

Morning Ladies

Coffee is piping hot and ready to go if anyone wants some..

Its a chilly 20 degrees outside but with the wind they say 12.. BRRRR All the snow that melted yesterday is now ice... The ride to work should prove interesting that is once Max makes it home from work..

Jaye I think I can handle that.. I have some pieces here for Tonys quilt already so maybe I will start on it too.. Do I stitch all the to p pieces together first?

as with all of you my DH snores but I have learned to block it out.. Most of the time.. I think we all have things about oursleves that drive our loved oes crazy but thats what makes us who we are.. Nobody is perfect and even when Max is making me crazy I love him dearly and just remember that I love hom for who he is.. Ever last rotten part of him.. I miss him badly at night while he is working ~ even the snoring I dont know what I would do without him..

Well I better finish getting ready for work ~ My last day until Monday and Maxs last night is tonight until the same...

Huggs to you all

Morning Donna.....You have a great day.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning! I went MIA and didn't know it! LOL Actually I did know it, busy here at work and more difficult to get online at night with Dave home. All of this talk about DH's and I've got to chime in!

I married Dave when I was 33, he was 45, it's my first marriage that I said I'd never be in and his second marriage that he was begging to find someone to marry. Neither one of us have kids and more than likely never will. We were set up and without that we would have never met, and I have to say he is the best matched man for me that I have ever been with, and yes he snores BUT he sleeps in a separate bedroom on work days so he doesn't keep me awake. What's hilarious is that used to drive me nuts, he should be sleeping with me regardless, but when he was switched over to Graveyard Shift in June 2008 he wasn't home at night, then Swing Shift from June 2009 until his very recent layoff December 23rd, so now I'm trying to get used to him being home at night altogether! I have gotten used to sleeping in a king size bed by myself anyway. Even though he has short man's syndrome and drives me nuts sometimes, he is the best matched man for me that I have ever been with. And he takes care of Tiga LOL

I've got to get to work, see ya'll later!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. I have been up for a bit, but just now got into DG. It kept giving me errors, page not available. GRRRRRR
Anyway, love the video that Synda sent. I have seen that before, but still very funny!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!
LK, I was about to ask why you are so quiet lately. Ha!! The dreaded pc-itis! I read Barb and Pegi are having the same issues. Got to be the 'traffic' that our ISPs can't handle. All those pc gifts will have to be tested and I'm sure there are folks checking out Christmas online sales too! Been having 'errors' and I kept rebooting to keep this going.

Crissy, that's a big plus when Dave loves Tiga as much as you do ;)
Don't give Dave a long list of Honey Do List......... start with 2 then go from there!! Tell Dave it will keep him from being depress!

Donna, check these links out. Gives you a rough guide towards starting your own quilt. I'd start with simple blocks made up of different swatches of fabric. Draft and color your design on graph paper. That will also help you figure out how much fabric you'd need.
Just remember all seams should be uniform.

Kel just called! Time to go... have a wonderful last day of 2009!

Sorry to be so long in answering Jaye. I have been having cpmputer problems and I can only get on occasionally. We are changing from this Vista back to Windows XP. It is involved as I need to put a lot of my files over on another drive as Vista doesn't let me send them anywhere. It's complicated to me but Norm is doing it for me.
I would love to be in the group getting material from you to use in a quilt. What an honor....Thank you
Hope everyone's New Year is wonderful and I hope to be back for a while again tomorrow.
Prayers for all who may need them.
Barb

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Whoohoo!!! Can't wait to see them. Love Shepherds and my sis has 5 Bassets...her "Boyz"!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Afternoon all. I still need more coffee--anyone have some?

Won't be on much today as I have festival things to finish and a very important date at 4:30--nope no man--welll, errr, maybe one but sons don't count. Family movie today and pizza afterwards. We had planned to have a girls day tomorrow as Charles would be leaving for Jax to attend the Gator Bowl game but NO, he got all upset he was being left out. Spoiled rotten beast!!! Guess I should be happy he like going out with 5 girls and being the only guy.

Take care all and Jaye I am ready for a Sistah quilt for sure.

Well after sending I see there were other post. Jaye how wonderful about the new 4 legged babies. Never had a bassett but they do remind me of beagles--shorter and chunkier. Hurry with the pictures.

Barb, I can so relate to you and Vista!!! I hate it and just purchased the new Windows 7--actually daughter did --better deal being a teacher. Good luck and tell Norm--there is no snow here and if he wants to he can change my files too while being warm. You and I can go quilt shopping while he is busy. LOL

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Jaye i love both of them thats wonderful...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Will be in and out in small bits...have a lot cleaning, cooking and shopping to get done for Friday....

Jaye as to last nights question.... I am baking a Big Ham, doing the Collard greens, Hoppin' John, a vegetarian Chili, the baked sweet potatoes, bread, drinks and a big batch of Cake mix cookies...maybe the Hawaiian roll sandwiches.... probably will add a few more things but with everyone that is attending bringing a dish of some sort we should hae more than enough food to feed an army!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, I had deleted the above post. To those that wondered why it's blank.. the original was the excitement getting a call from Kel that my wish for a Basset Hound or Shepherd is granted.
I'm getting both he said.....

This is the Basset Hound and German Shepherd--- ALL IN ONE!
Basset Hound long body and short stubby legs, with a broad German Shepherd face.

He was tied up in front of a grocery store since this morning, and no one claimed him. So kind hearted Kel brought him home.
He got loose, chasing after the cats here, and I managed to get hold of him.. unfortunately, he's so strong and made me fall... landing on my face. The chains he came with are not strong enough.
So.. I told Kel when he gets off work, to please find some chains that will support his weight. I bet this dog here weighs 80 pounds!!

Kel has left our number if the original owner's looking for him. I truly think this dog's abandoned.

Will we keep him... I truly don't know, as we have so many cats here...

Good to see you again Barb. What would we do without a pc these days!

You're right about the chunky part of the Bassett Maid M. Our dentist raise champion Bassetts (one t or 2) and he's selling the puppies at more than 1,000!! Can't afford that!

I doubt this dog will ever be claimed. There were 3 hunters that walked by and were laughing away at this strange 'conglomeration'.
Got me quite defensive, and told them it's a designer dog!

Any leftovers, send them to this household, Trisha. That dog can gulp down 3 roast chickens easily!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh but he is Beautiful!!! A little love and training and you have a wonderful baby there. I love him!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Only animal lovers will call him Beautiful, Trisha!!

So far he hasn't yelp nor bark, just daydreaming by the fence!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

He's sweet, Jaye - his eyes make him look so young! Have you figured out how old he is? What will you name him?

LK - thank you dear sistah - I got your Christmas card today ^_^

I went to the church today to help the Sunday School teacher clean out cupboards and drawers, and what did I come home with............. ?? Beads & fabric lol
Some of it will go towards making banners, and the beads - well, I have a couple of bead-loving friends they will go to ^_^
One's a DG friend, and the other's someone at work. Carol, at work, would like to make a bead Christmas tree like I have @ work - you make it with safety pins, and heavy guage wire, then push Christmas lights inside and plug it in.

Well, it's 1:37 and I rushed out of the house this morning (slept in until 9:00!!) and didn't have time to eat. Now that I've brought everything in from outside, I'm going to have BRUNCHUPPER lol Well, maybe not the Upper part, cuz I'm going to have supper with my DH - but it's so far after lunch, that it's not truly a brunch, right?

cya later, dear sistahs!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Jaye, he is adorable. He looks so pitiful in that picture but I am sure he will respond to the love you and Kel will have for him. He reminds me of a shepherd/beagle we had at one time. Not our choice but seems the shepherd had other ideas with one of our females was in. Most of that litter looked like beagles but one was very distinct showing mixed blood. He was the first one adopted.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe, Jaye. He is so pretty! The beagle part of him, may be a runner, but I agree, that with with lots of TLC, you guys will have him trained in no time!
What is his name?
Hello to Marion, Trisha, Susan, Twyla, Barb, Crissy, Cindy, Donna and anyone else lurking.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Look here sistahs! You are all NOT making it easy for me. I'm trying to convince myself he doesn't belong here, as
1. He's already chasing the cats
2. He caused me to fall
3. One roast chicken and 3 ham bones are not enough for him, today.
4. I truly cannot handle him.

He's huge strong face (more a Shepherd) is truly adorable..... but don't let his paws step on your feet! And his eyes.. golden orbs...
I'm pretty sure he's about 2 or 3 years old. Still acts like a pup.

Oh btw.. his name is Hambone! :">

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

jar617 - don't know if this was addressed since you posted, but I got my chocolate mint truffle coffee creamer at Walmart day before yesterday . . .

Thanks for the invite, Jaye . . . I'd love to join the thread and the project!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh dear Lord!!! Welcome Nichole!!
Ha! You've just been swept into this embrace of very loving sistahs!
You're gonna come across some nosey ones!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Maybe Hambone is just hungry? You can get a small bag of dog food to give him . . . see if that helps the hunger. Once he's full, he may be easier to handle. I've had 2 german shephards, so I know how hard they can be to handle . . .

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

TY Nichole. Lola our Chi isn't willing to share her food with Hambone :D Moreover hers are the small cans.
We'll get some tonight for him and for sure check him out to make sure he's free of heartworms.

We think he's a Shepherd mix, besides the head, his back is long and slope at the back.

My ex once had an albino Shepherd, and he was so gentle with other furkids. This one here might take some constant training to leave them alone. Now that I don't do well. I normally let my critters run wild!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, we're off to look for some food and mayhaps a decent housing for Hambone :(
I know.... I'm a softie :D
Am thinking of erecting a private area for him too.
See you all later!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Dear Sistahs, my son-in-law needs your prayers. He woke up about 2 am this morning with severe pains in his stomache and vomiting. Rushed to ER and is still waiting for the GI doctor to get there. He has had problems with his colon for a long time now and is on meds for it. We don't know if there is a flare up or if it's his appendix (sp) and the colon right behind his appendix is inflammed.

I so can't wait for this horriable year to get over so we can start a better New Year, (I hope).

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Jaye when we got sooner the golden retriver though he is red real red, he chased all kitties still does but at night hes in washroom laying by kitchen door it's room never finshed just lean to he lets the kitties snuggle up sleep on his back and paws. he chases but its to play i hope. he has knocked me down as my legs weak.. he jumps up on anyone if can..but he is ours so.. And him and moses eats a lot a whole lot.. better me..lol..

Cindy prayers for your sil.. see candle on table yet ? up above.

Raleigh, NC

Evening sistahs! took a while to catch up reading. Twyla, Happy Belated Birthday!

I can't open that FB file. am I the only one in the USA without a FB account!?!

First day of my new iodine suppliments. according to paperwork, low iodine levels are related to breast cancer, fiber cystic disease, sleeplessness, thyroid dysfunction, and sinus issues. I have all that! well, not cancer. Mom's the one had the cancer. She's had it all.

Sitting here listening to the Raleigh Ringers (handbells) performing The Nutcracker Suite, a recorded PBS show. They are awesome.

My dream of a clean house for Jan. 1st isn't happening. Been a lazy bum. Went out in the COLD for another load of boxes, and grocery shopping. Blast it, after five years of not feeling the cold at all (menapause), it's COLD out there, and it's going to get worse this weekend. Menapause over?

Jaye, your timing is perfect! Bring quilt fabric on. over on the iris forum I've been green with envy with all the photos of iris print fabrics one DGer posted. Have looked and looked for iris prints here in NC EVERYWHERE - NOTHING. Another gal posted for me a link to quilt fabrics on line and darned if there are not about 23!
So I'm in the mood to quilt! Bring on the SI quilt fabric for sistahs!

What a dog! He's heavy and male, Jaye, so you must establish Alphadog status NOW or you will never get him under control. That's why large dogs are sometimes hard to handle. Easier to do when they are babies. May I recommend a semi-choke collar? Find a dog trainer expert to advise you. And feed him kibble of some sort - purer meats will make him more agressive.

so sorry this is so long

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Cindy Prayers are being sent to your SIL. I know how that appendix is! If that's the problem just get it out and he'll be fine.

Jaye I just love your new furry friend, Hambone! What a sweetheart! I understand how difficult it is to keep him, buuuutttt I bet if you have the room you could build him a dog run with some sort of chain link play pin at the end of it...

Waving to everyone!!! Dave's uptight because I'm on the computer so I'm going to post on a couple other threads and go sit with him in front of the tube.

Raleigh, NC

oh Cindy! knew I was forgetting something - wanted to say prayers for your SIL/BIL now, but also to you.

you need to say that same prayer as Jaye and I, ask Him to send you the one He means to be your other half.

you've always heard me say how wonderful Randall is. Well, above, I also let y'all know he isn't perfect. But for me, he certainly is. He's a darn near perfect man - and yet no other woman ever gave him a second glance.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm asking for an update on a prayer for my sister, Alice.

I just got a call from her, and they will be performing surgery after all. It'll be her 3rd, for the lung cancer. Recently they'd discovered her cancer had grown, but not in the lymph nodes. She doesn't have a date yet, but it will be 2-4 weeks from now.
She says she's relieved now that she's made the decision, but I could hear the tightness in her voice. She's worried, of course. The Dr said he didn't want to wait, so it won't be longer than 4 wks. She won't have to go to another city, though, so that's good. I wish I could be there with her though........

Susan

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, what's the latest on your SIL? Keep us informed will you.. certainly we'll be praying for him.
Still need to know whether you'd be interested in joining us for this sistah lap quilting project?

Dear Susan, if it's in His will for you to be with Alice when she has her surgery, He'll make a way ;) I'm so proud of you, ever so supportive of your family, irregardless of the distance.

Oh does that means we see less of Crissy on SI when Dave's home. Hope Dave's keeping you happily occupied!

Bon, I'm glad you decide to join us! I'll be looking for iris fabrics for you here. I do hope your supplements will help with your low iodine levels.
Btwy, moi alpha male? Roar!! Lolol!!!

Update on Hambone.
Papa Kel got him his fiberglass cave-home. Hambone was reluctant to use it, until I threw an old comforter. A sniff.. and he curled into it!
Also he's dining on Puppy Chow. Being he's so skeletal, he would need the extra fat.
He doesn't jump on us and will meekly sit for affectionate pats on his head. He whines when he sees Lola. Me think he wants to just play with her, but it's too soon.
He doesn't growl at me when I come too close to his food... that's a good sign... only when the cats get close.

I wish one day, like your dog, Twyla, he'd be sleeping with them!

Well, I would like to spend most of my mornings training him. He's using a choke collar now, but I've sprained my right hand in the fall.
Thank God for the choke collar, he would never had stopped and would be dragging me on!!!
So, Kel will have to do so in the evenings, with me by his side.

Julie, hope you get lots of inspirations for your writings....

Trisha, I hope you get some help in the kitchen.

Synda.. hugs and love to you, my night owl sistah!!

Nichole, so glad you join us.
Please give Syrumani (Nichole) a great Sistah Welcome, ladies!

Thank you dear Lord, I can hear Kel snoring... so he's alive!!!

Gonna bid you all a good night, and I'll see you in the morning.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
