Hello ladies, and a very Happy Birthday to you Twyla!!!
Hmm... what picture were you referring to? Think it's Donna that looks so pretty with her new 'do.
Awww Janice.... Black Pepper got you around its' paws... how sweet!!
Crissy, I won't worry too much on how much longer Tiga has.. you just enjoy her!
Ooops... phone rings... bbl...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oooops....you got ahead of me....transferred from the other room...

We usually have at least one Pasta Dish, several salads, a couple of bottles of wine...with all the area Micro Breweries we end up with a lot of excellent Beers... I try to make sure that what I provide is a complete meal if no one else were to bring anything...then with what everyone else brings it doesn't matter so much if we have four salads and six desserts...it usually works out well... I just try to not get in a rut and fix the same things every year.

A very sad night...they took Officer Mundell off of Life Support this afternoon and he passed away shortly thereafter. Please say a prayer for his wife and children.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jaye, how you doing?
Thanks for the new room!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I did survive the Christmas holidays, now have to get ready to get my resolutions for the New Year in order. First in order will be painting the kitchen. Was looking around and I do need a lot of sanding work done first. I like to fill up the small holes from nails with spakle, have no idea how I got to like that job. New Year's Day is very quiet around our house. May the new year bring days of joy for everyone, no more sickness is allowed. I pray for that one a lot. The rest of the rooms could use a new paint job, but will be happy if the kitchen and tiny room leading into the garage gets done.

Facebook seems to have taken over a lot of my time, sometimes I wish I had never found that site.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Evening everyone

Sorry I keep going MIA but Im going to Try my best to keep up with the new thread..

Happy Birthday Twyla.... :)

Thank you all for your comments on the hair color.. I needed something alittle lightr than I had been going so I tried drastically light red and ended up with what Iiked since my natural color was so dark.. My boss noticed right off but the other 2 I work with never even caught on.. LOL

Crissy so sorry to hear about Tiga.. Defiately enjoy what time you have with her..

Lots of snow today!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Will certainly say one tonight for Officer Mundell's survivors, Trisha. How sad.

Pegi, I leave FB games alone!!! Too addicting...

Well it was Cody that called. Had a nice long chat with her and little Alex. She wished you all a Happy New Year. Not connected to the 'net and sadly, she's still depending on others' kindness for transportation.

Susan.. you're too funny!! I happily will renew the contracts for ALL friendships in this 'realm'!! I'll be crazy not to!!
Chinese New Year stipulates no cleaning the house, cause you might clean out the good luck :D

Hiya LK.. I'm still behind in doing Debra's block :(

Oops Man of a Certain Age is on... brb... when it's over.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Prayers are being said for the Officer's family.........

Well, Jaye - I'll just go with my scottish tradition, and Try too get the house cleaned.... then do some quilting later this week.
Just heard from my mom (on our new phone, while I was trying to enter ALL the phonebook entries........pheww.......) and she sounds tired, but good.
The )*&^_)*(& phone started to hum in the background, which was very annoying. Hope it's fixable.... darn new phone, anyway!

~Susan~

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Goodness!!! Lisa! ^ 5 !!! Bears won in overtime, so that means Saints will be number 1 in the playoffs---home field advantage!
Good game tonight.

How's the writing going, Julie?

Synda, how many games are you involved in FB??

I'm gonna bid you all a restful sleep and see you all in the morning.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I have no idea Jaye,I do one for a bit and get tired of it and flip to another...LOL

So sorry to hear about the Officer........such a sad loss for his family and loved ones, especially at this time of year. They are in my prayers.

Rick had 4 days off ,so we spent a lot of QT together. We never even got out of our jammies...LOL.Just laid around .Had picnics in bed of meat, cheese, crackers, cookies and candies that my dad and step mom and lil bro Shawn bought by and watch TV in the bedroom. It was a good weekend !And we get to do it all over again this weekend, cause he has 4 days off again. The roads are bad and we have no money,so what is a better thing to do.In the 14 years we have been together we have never went out for New Years Eve,too many looneys on the roads.

Today the roads were hideous.....took Rick and the guys that ride w/ him an hour and a half to get home from work.Usually only takes 45 mins.

Have a bad sinus headache and my neck hurts ,so I believe I'm off to bed.Hope and pray all are safe and that you all sleep well.(((((HUGS)))))

Here is a pic of the roads today at 4pm here.

Ahh sweet synda, put how beautiful the spring will be for you. I'm so glad you had some close time with Rick. There's nothing like it. Just peaceful. Sleep good ladies......

Synda, I miss my monkey :)

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

Hey Synda, do you realize you could string a line between your house and Jerry's and have a pulley system set up so you guys could just send stuff flying off the porch and have it land in his front yard? (oh the possibilities LOL) And yes you spend way too much time on FB! (just kidding..had to quit cause I wasn't writing,,too worried about crops or muffins in the oven)

It is sad to hear about an officer lost during the holidays...my prayers to out to his family.

Birthday wishes to Twyla.........stay warm and be careful on the ice.

To everyone here.........good night and dream of sunny spring days in a garden where there are no weeds and everything blooms forever! (and comes with a self watering system, and fertilizer, and pest repellent, and no chipmunks to eat the seeds or plant them for you! lol) Good night all

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good morning, dear sistahs!!
No work today (not until Monday! yaaaaaaaaaay), but do need to take down the tree, clean the house, and tidy, tidy, tidy! in prep for New Year's!! I don't have as big a house as I used to, years ago when the kids were little and at home, but still have the same amount of "stuff" LOL Hard-put to find room for everything!!!!

Well, it's time for laundry, etc........
We've been invited to join a few friends for New Year's Eve, so will be ablr to get rid of some of the extra sweets we got over the season (Christmas cake, tarts, chocolates....... wait a minute - the chocolates will keep, so maybe they won't find their way out of this house lol)

Programmed our new phone last night, but it has a limit of 70 phone #s........ darn!
need to keep in touch with family, friends, etc, in many cities, so need to keep 'em ALL!! guess I need a Roladex, eh? lol

Bless you all, lovely peeps! I'm off to have breakfast, so will chat later.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning.

Just dropping in to say "HI". It has been cold and raining here. Nothing exciting happening (well at least not yet anyhow, but maybe). Things between Steve and I are not good. I have seen him since Dec 5th, he has had alot of things happen to him and it is interfering with our relationship. He has not worked in weeks therefore is flat broke and now his right arm is useless and he is in alot of pain. Will need to have surgery and can not draw state disability. So I don't know what is going to happen with him. I don't need someone like that. Crap we have only gone two places since we met in Sept. If he can't go back to being a truck driver I don't know how he is going to live. I'm looking for someone that is financial secure and may want to get married again in a couple of years, and Steve is NOT that. It breaks my heart because I really cared fo him and when we are together we have fun, but I can't live the way he does.

So I have been chatting with a guy since Christmas Eve and we are going to meet tomorrow. He lives here in Auburn and works a couple of miles from here. I think he may even work with my son - in -law. I will find out for sure tonight. If I don't forget to ask him.
His name is Chuck he is 52, 6 feet tall and a bear of a man. He calls him self TedeeBare on the dating site. He lost his sister last winter to cancer (and she was his last blood relative) and is growing his hair long for Locks of Love. He moved up here from the Los Angelas area about 3 years ago. I really hate these first dates, I get so nervous and can't think of what to talk about.

Well I must go get dressed, am babysitting grandkids today. May challenge them on some wii games.

TTYL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cindy, sorry things are not working out with you and Steve, but things do happen for a reason. Good luck with Chuck.
It is rainy here today also, but not too cold. It is 40 now, and supposed to get up to 58.
Good morning to Synda, and Susan also.
Jaye where you at today? More running to do?
Debbie, what monkey are you talking about?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning ladies!
Thanks for the breakfast Linda. Oh my.. bet that owl will be so beautiful once you're through painting.
Don't have not one owl in this house nor outside. In my subconscious to avoid them, as my late mum was superstitous.

It's the Lord's present to you and Rick, Synda. To appreciate each other when the finances are temporary lacking.
Having those days off and staying away from dangerous road conditions, I'm sure, are much preferable over possible 'worser' situations. You can still teach him how to play the games on FB!!! :P

Susan, maybe you could start a mail order cookie business! You'd be needing another phone line!!!
Seriously, think about that. Not everyone is a diabetic ;)

Hello Sis Debbie.. ty, ty, for your beautiful card. It came yesterday, and only reminds me that Christmas is everyday in our hearts.

(((((((((((((((Cindy)))))))))))))) Those experiences should not make you tongue tied with any future suitors.
There are a few church teenagers that are growing their hair long for that noble purpose. Kel and I can't do that, as they keep having a 'falling out'.

Judy, I'm sure you're enjoying yourself! I can imagine the chatter you and Deborah had... besides your giant armwraps. At least you are travelling in no snow countries.

So, what's up LK? Did Andy win the competition? Got an idea forming in my head which includes you and Maid Marion.. he he he...

Will have to chase these doldrums away.. me dislike winter.. gives me the seasonal depression if I allowed it! :D.

Have a wonderful Tuesday ladies!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hehehe..well LK, no food involve!
I'm pretty sure others are curious too, so I'll just explain myself here.

I'll try to find an interesting fabric, enough for all wanting to participate.
We all will use that fabric in our own chosen patterns for our own quilts.
Imagine, one common fabric... to tie us!

So.. LK.. Maid M.. Barb...Susan...Deborah... Janice... Stacey...Debbie.. Judy.. anyone that can sew... anyone game? I know Susan is .. I'm on the phone with her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Count me in please?

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Jaye times like this wish i knew how to do something as i look at such beautiful quilts.

Thanks for wishes, Cindy did go back see where i posted .. i look at candle all time its on coffee table. cho. sitting on microwave , i love choclate i sneak hersey bar now then.. lol. Oh i never lookrd or dated in between husbands they just came along. lol.. its funny but truth.all dirt poor.

oh we nver go out i did ask him where taking me out to eat for my birthday yeah he said right at 2015 west brady.. hmmmmm . but when we were first together we would do snaks in bed crackers cheese apple things.. that did not last long soon he knew i was hooked.lol...for real

Take care all.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Let me re-explain myself.

I send out the common fabric, at least 1/2 a yard to each of you. Use that fabric in your pattern. You supply the rest of the needed fabric.
No exchanges... just use my fabric as part of your blocks.
Make the quilt for yourself! Now.. what do you think?

Thanks Susan.. she was getting muddled over the above post!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I still like the idea.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - you know me so well - I'm in!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Not too late to learn, Twyla. You could hand piece simple squares! If you wish to learn!

Oh Goodie LK!! This will be fun!! No dateline..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Is there coffee? Going through my yearly bout with sinus and my knee is refusing to cooperate with my leg these past few days!! Hope I am late but I do hope you had/have a wonderful birthday and sending love and prayers from this part of the country.

Oh but we are not sunny Florida this morning!!! Not sure what the temps got to last night but it was cold. According to the paper the worst is yet to come this weekend--oh well so be it!! Jaye, I so understand about the winter doldrums--I have to work really hard at not letting them get me down!!!!! Together, we can make it--right?

I have had to take over the mailing of applications for the festival again and that has had me busy!! New coordinator has had so many issues with family (and I do understand) that I am doing this so we can get them in the mail--albeit many weeks late. Oh well--again, what will be, will be.

Susan, when you finish your house, you are more than welcome to come do mine. LOL Pssst--bring the chocolate though.

Okay, Jaye, I am game--what's the plan with the quilt. Just let me know.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Of course, Susan :D

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

WWWAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! I want my chocolate mint truffle coffee creamer! Now that Christmas is over they don't have it at the store I usually buy it from.

Jaye, so this fabric goes into the quilts of whoever wants a piece right? So that means everyone would have a little piece of each other with them all the time....that is a wonderful idea...where do you come up with all these cool things?

Ok, off to work I go........feel free to tag along....lol...............take care for now and keep the coffee on......

~:>

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marion - your phone will ring, shortly!!

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Actually that idea stemmed from Maid M, Julie. She has provided a common RWB fabric to be incorporated into blocks for a dear quilter friend, whose son's in the service.
So, why not us sistahs?

Poor you, Maid M. Looks like we need to find us a body parts store!!!
Take care of yourself now, and I won't want my favorite Floridian depress! Perhaps it's a blessing that you need to help out the new coordinator.. keeps you AWAY from the doldrums ;)

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Afternoon everyne

I missed breakfast but I come bearing Cheesburgers and Mac and cheese for lunch.. lol Even alittle chocolate fudge left if your sweet tooth is still standing aftr the Christmas goodies..

Linda your Owl is gonna be beautiiful.. Where o where will you put him at? You ladies wouldnt believe her owl collection there are so many very pretty ones I could never pick a favorite..

Jaye how do you hand quilt? I never got a sewing machine yet but really want to start practicing even if its by hand.. I need something to do at the barbershop while we are not busy.. I had been at work since 745 and only did 1 haircut before lunch but I did inish yet another book and started in on another..

Marion so sorry to hear your knee is giving you fits.. The cold weather doesnt help any I know maybe we should make a quilted snuggie.. Wouldnt that be nice and toasty.. I wish you all the luck with the festival workings..

Cindy Im sorry things are not going well with Steve.. I couldnt imagine having to start dating again.. If anything ever happened between Max and I , I would be just like my mom single and by myself.. Working with men all day long at the shop gives me alot of insight and I have to say the guys in my age range are just little boys who want to play even when they have it good where they are..

Synda your road s look alot like ours did.. Very cold out there and Max and I did about the same but with the kids. Stayed in jammies whenever we could..

Well lunch is about over so I better get headed back to work
Waving hello to everyone and sending flying snowballs.. LOL
Bear Huggs to you all
Donna

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

Hi everyone. You have all been busy today. I feel kind of guilty with all of this beautiful cold sunshine we are having today. Sending some all your way.

Synda , thank you thank you, for my buddy. I am going to paint his picture on a stone or plague and put him in my garden. I love him. I pray you have a good, blessed day. Did the sun come out for you yet?

Hi taters, when I was neck deep in co ops, synda would bless me and encourage me with a picture of my monkey. It would always make me laugh. A good memory. That's what friends are, a lighthouse in the dark storm. When things are darkest, a friends kind words can send a light out to you to warm your heart and give you hope that 'things come... but will pass' but His love will always last.

Marion, I'm so sorry. Your wrist, your knee, your helper, oh dear. If I can help you do some mailings or something , dmail me.

Jaye, I'm in , if I can quilt my piece in the middle of a pretty pillow, hmmmm......

Twyla, I hope you had a happy birthday ANYWAY. LOL I spent the first 20 or so years of my 38 year marriage just miserable. I was always wanting my precious husband to do something romantic or caring. Like birthdays or anniversaries. I would spend the day wishing for a gift that he forgot . I wanted him to come in from working a long day out in the elements and remove his mud soaked clothing that he had put on clean, 10 hours earlier. I wanted him to forget that he had been digging trenches all day to provide for me and I wanted him to come out of the shower, dressed in a James Bond outfit and sweep me off my feet and take me somewhere special. But, as I got older, I learned to sit at the other end of the sofa, after he came out of the shower, smelling so good. And he would lay down and try to watch a little tv with me and dose off. I began to rub his poor feet that were throbbing from the steel toed boots that he had worn all day, and his love came thru loud and clear when he said "oh , that feels so good. I'm so glad to be home." Enjoy your husband Twyla, take care of him, love him just like he is and thank the Lord for him. That is what wisdom has taught me, that is love.

Debbie

Raleigh, NC

ARGH - it did it again, erased a big long post, but this time as I was editting it.

oh well - I'll make it shorter this time. Feeling very off today. Meds messed up, because I forgot yesterday to go fetch one med from a specialty compounding pharmacy is 24 miles away on the far side of the county. Randall took my truck to dentist this morning (back to soup again for supper) and his car would not start, still won't, so I had to wait to after 11am to go fetch it. Gotta take this med on empty stomach. Didn't feel like eating much yesterday, everything disagreed with me. Now didn't get to eat until nearly 12:30, very very peckish and a bit dizzy. and that was without my last pill omeprazole for reflux. Don't know what possessed me, but Ruth and I had to stop to get me food at a new place... who's specialty turned out to be massively hot spiced Cajun fries. Now I'm positively i.l.l. But my blood sugar is back normal. Mylanta helped.

Sitting here looking at Sugar Babies, Chocolate covered raisins, chocolate cordials cherries, thin mints, Aplets and Cotlets, all from my stocking, and oatmeal cookies....I'm feeling better, but I'm reaching for a glass of water instead....

Since we were down that way and had to wait 30 mins for me to eat, we picked up some free pieces of drywall nearby, from craigslist. Remember when our upstairs plumbing leaked into laundryroom downstairs and part of ceiling came down? Well, downstairs is freezing cold, and Randall says that hole is acting like a flue for the warm air, sending back up and into the dead air spaces in the house. This should fix that right up and the price was right and he has a few days off, doesn't work again until Monday.

And I've turned off the frig upstairs. Hoping nothing spoils until we can get it unfrozen. Thinking if I get it unfrozen that will help with problems.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - you're so right about loving your husband "warts and all".
I read once (I think it was in Dear Abby...) about a woman who kept all the good dishes put away, and covered up the "good furniture" for company, too.
When her husband passed away, she realized he was the "good" in her life and should have deemed every day "good enough" to bring out the best.
From that time on, I felt that's what I wanted to do.

I try..... not always successfully, to listen to even my DH's snores with joy, cuz it's better than him not being here.
Because we married later in life (he's going to be 60 in March) I try to remember each day about how wonderful it is to have him in my life and thank God he is.
He's a wonderful man, and sometimes I get annoyed at him (he does have his full measure of testosterone which means he's not always thoughtful), but I'm human and flawed too.

Bless you for reminding me, Debbie.

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Raleigh, NC

just now reading. Susan, you've reminded me, too. Randall is my sunshine. He makes me laugh. We got married nearly age 40, but I was so scared of marriage I told him to "consider it a contract to lease for 50 years, with an option for 50 more if both parties still agree." We have 31.5 lease years left, and I'm more scared of not getting many of those years than of anything else in my life.

He snores like crazy. He can drive me to want to pound on him. His shyness threw a monkey wrench into my active social life. MIL has a habit of raising both fists and just shaking them at FIL in pure frustration - I find myself doing that... a lot. He's not into gardening, i'm not into computers. I used to tell folks, "I'm a Wolfpack grad, he's a diehard Carolina fan. I'm a Republican, he's a registered Democrat. Worst of all, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan, and he's a diehard Redskins fan - if it wasn't for the creation of the Carolina Panthers, we couldn't have made it this long."

But when he's gone....I cannot go to sleep without him here.
He is my best friend.

Hey there Debbie! Haven't been co-opping in a while, haven't seen you!

Jaye, you any better today?

Mylanta kicked in. Started on my kitchen today. I liked that Scottish tradition on the clean house. I'm going to try for it!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Gone for the day and boy do you guys get chatty!!! The Bindery called and said they had mom's Bibles finished so we had to take off for Seattle immediately! One is the old Family Bible that belonged to my great Grandparents, and the other is the one my Grandmother gave mom and dad when they were married. The old one we had restored with the original cover...the newer one, we had the cover replaced....and it cost a fortune to do the two of them. I sure don't have that kind of money:(

Took a day out of my cleaning schedule for the New Year's party, so it will be double duty tomorrow...plus cooking in between times.

Have a good one everyone.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Another beautiful sunny day and I waisted it by doing nothing. My days are so mixed up, always happens when there is a holiday. No plans to help celebrate the new year starting. Stay at home, as usual, too many idiots out there driving like mad men. When I was much younger, like eons ago, if you didn't have a date for New Year's Eve you moaned and groaned about it. Now I prefer to stay home and be safe and sound.

Be thankful for the snoring, then you know they are still alive. They could at least wait until we are asleep before starting that racket. A few months ago DH start using a mask & cpap unit for apenea and no snoring going on. He tries to talk to me with it on, bunch of garbeled noises. LOL

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

Tallulah_B and bonjon , I agree that sometimes I want to beat him. LOL The devil must have read my post above, because when my husband came home tonight, he was in some kind of a bad mood. Wheww.. And I had just spent about 2 hours making his favorite meatballs and gravy with pasta and fresh salad. When I put my head down as he asked the blessing over our supper, needless to say, I wasn't too happy and The sweet Lord whispered, 'That's kind of how I feel when I do so much for you and you take it for granted'. ukkkk And I whispered in my heart, "I'm sorry Lord". As my sweetheart of a warted husband began to eat, he smiled and said, 'man, thats so good'. After he relaxed from his awful day and got a good supper in his stomach, he reached and hugged me. Did he say 'I'm sorry'? No, but his strong arms of safety and protection said it all. And tonight when he warms my toes, I will silently thank The Lord for my spoiled sweet husband.

Debbie
