Happy Boxing Day

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Morning,
No the meds don't come in the mail, and they are not old scripts.

I pick them up at the pharmacy once a month. Take them to the house and then I am done with them the RN takes it from there when she comes.

I happen to be there when she was this time and she remarked that I didn't need to pick any up for a couple months.
When I questioned her about it she said it had been way ahead forever, had a million excuses why that didn't make sense.

Really bad part is I know this RN really well, so it really didn't set well me telling her that something was not right.

(Zone 5b)

so the guy (woman) wasn't taking them, non-compliant or senile?...nobody was passing them to him, or did they think he could handle it himself but he clearly couldn't?

Does this client have family you could mention your concerns to? Or maybe just take a picture of what is there and show it to the pharmacist and ask if that is the way it is supposed to be....

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

They have those little daily boxes that get filled for them every two weeks.
The gentleman you have to remind constantly to take his meds but the wife takes hers like clockwork.

Only one of her scripts is ahead, but she don't take as many.

What I think is most of his he gets 2 to 3 times a day and I think at some point ( maybe when they had a sub RN) that he only got it once a day. That would get him ahead like that pretty fast.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yup. and that is not gonna help him at all. Maybe talk to the wife and see if she can remind him....something needs to get right

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

No family Moon and I did go to the pharmacist. He got about as defensive as the RN.

Guess it was a bad day here for everyone. :)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Ya hate to be suspicious, especially about folks you know, but even an honest error with meds can be dangerous...but I can't see anyway it would be any sort of Medicare scam...

(Zone 5b)

well JJ now they have you there to help him, so he'll be ok. And he may not listen to the wife, either, some people are just stubborn. Also, some people take their pills every other day to save money, although that doesn't sound like the case here.

(Zone 5b)

no it just looks like he wasn't taking them, you can't force them down his throat you can only urge/plead/cajole/bribe *grin*

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Maybe he needs one of those pillkeepers. They come in all sizes and you can get them with multiple dosages per day. At least then you would know if he is just not taking the meds.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

She does remind him and now even keeps his box and gives him the pills, but she can't see well enough to know if they in the boxes right.

This isn't the first time something has been funny. Not to long ago the man said to me that he use to take 11 pills now he was taking 12.
So nosey me got the med list and counted and he was right he should have only had 11.
They had had a sub in for that filling of the box so I was looking through it and luckily for me it was easy because he only has 1 med that gets cut in half. He had a whole tab and 2 halfs instead of a whole and 1 half.

So we called to let the RN know it was wrong. Holy cow she double checked triple checked they were right when she left he must have put thatin there.

Right he shakes so bad he can't pour the milk in the cereal bowl but he can cut that little pill in half perfectly and fill a two week box. Arrrrr

If I can convince them they will be using a new agency before long. Because I do not want to be checking med boxes all the time while they are paying good money to have it done.

They take way to many very important meds for me to be responsible for it.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

The pills are in one of those pill keeper boxes with morning, noon, eve and bedtime and most the time they are empty when it is time to refill. They each have two weeks worth.
So they know when he misses a dose.

Some of the pill bottles still have foil over the top, they have never been opened. and were filled oct. 27, 2009, and nov 25. wastime to pick up Dec.
They were still using out of sept's bottle.

Something is not right for sure. Good on you for noticing, JJ. It just seems strange that he would have so many, especially when has been taking too much of one of them....maybe a change of agencies would be best and safest for them both.

Before this thread gets any longer, I have a new one ready to go....grin See Y'all there...
