My sister says I can not turn the spare bedroom into a greenhouse. She says the bathroom is bad enough. Spoil sport!!!
It's still December: let's continue to celebrate our gardens
No, not the whole bedroom - just a space about 4x3 will do!
She will not even give me that.
Brat.
Sister says I can move in with you. She says taking over the bathroom is enough.
Marti, I wonder if you could rig up a grow light under the bed?? I'm sure no one would notice! Maybe under the sink...let's see where else? Maybe you could bargain to trade the bathroom for a larger room? That way you could give the bathroom back and just use the bedroom.
Carolyn, next summer, be sure you groom the open sides of your planting beds really well...like at least another 6" to 1 ft. farther out. I've been doing that for awhile and so far DH hasn't really noticed the beds getting wider. He does panic when he sees me digging a new one, so this is less stressful for him and actually, he has less to mow in the long run. :)
Marti, Do you have a Conservatory, Public Gardens or maybe a HobbyGreenhouse Assoc anywhere nearby? You could see about volunteering somewhere like that.
Sister says that we are all nuts. Guys in white coats are headed our way.
Says she's given me almost an acre to plant she keeps the bedrooms.
No such thing in Somerset. To backcountry for it. Only one nursery in town and its closed down for the winter. No plants until at least March, they said. Of course they ahve greenhouses but will not let me in.
Willow - that is what I have been doing...
Well my family had the white coat folks come over. There interviewed everyone and left me here and took away everyone else.
I have two shop light and I got short florescent grow light at Loews and they work great. The guys at Loews see me coming they know I am trying to make something do something it was not made to do.
The white coat people gave up on me a long, long time ago...no hope! Now the only people DH worries about is the sherrif's patrol when they see all the light coming out of the basement and spare bedroom windows. I'm not so worried. If they want to try out my geraniums they're welcome to.
Carolyn, that set up looks great. You should have lots of fun now!
Sharon, did you change your user name? or was there someone else spelling Lowes like you? ;-)
LOL
I did change my user name and I am always spelling Loews wrong. Usually spell check catches me on that. Must have been in a hurry. Good catch Calif_Sue. You are always good for a great laugh. And I do enjoy laughing at myself.
Carolyn, are there mini lights under each shelf?
I was going to raise medical marijuana but did not know where to get the seed. It is amazing how many Hispanics and Caucasian men are growing vegetables. When I go to the hydroponic store the place is packed with Hispanics and Caucasian young men picking up their supplies. I bet they could tell me where to get my seed.
You want to see something funny, Sharon. Look on Property Room, and see all the lighting. Property Room was set up to sell police confiscated items, although it's gone commercial, like everything else. But they have tons of super grow lights. And then, of course, you buy them, and shortly you get a visit from the local gendarme.
Sharon
there are mini lights under each shelf. I was thinking I should get a timer to turn it on and off at specific times.
I told the young men that own the hydroponic shop that I was surprised the DEA was not parked out front. I am not kidding, that shop is doing a lot of business.
Those men just love lettuce.
LOL I grew "Vedgtables" in my back yard in the 80's oregano,I'm pretty sure.
My nephew planted some out in the back 40 here one year. I was so mad! Not that I wouldn't have enjoyed some vegetables, I just didn't want the fines that came with them.
I ripped mine out when the garbage man took a romantic intrest in me.
I would have been upset too. Kids don't seem to understand that it's your 'behind' too.
Jo Ann - that is funny!
He must have thought I needed help of some kind!!!!!!!
I was borne at night, but not last night.LOL
My next door neighbor's uncle is with the sheriff's office. I planted Texas Red Stars down the length of a fence on that side of the house when we moved here...working in the yard one day, I heard voices and went around the house to find him and 4 other officers perusing the fence line....
I started laughing when I saw them and one of the deputies said "This is no laughing matter, Lady" My reply "Actually it is. This is TRS Hib. and quite legal, but if you will follow me..." Led them back over to the neighbor's yard all the way to the back by the overflow canal and showed them the two happy little plants growing freely on the edge of the canal...."This on the other hand, is not legal. I will be happy to give a TRS hib so you can take these and it for comparison training." They were very redfaced as you could see the two little plants from the side street they drove in on....grin
great story
The really funny part is that they did take a small TRS Hib I had in a pot...."for comparison" grin
My nephew was only five years younger than me, Carolyn, although he was quite kid like. Kind of an even more laid back Cheech.
Glad I gave a laugh on this wintry day. Pretty bad when the cats give us a look with all their strangeness.
Too funny - but here, in the 2nd highest producing state in the union, it's taken very seriously. 'Cause there's really nothing else to be paying attention to....
No moonshine? We used to live just outside of Nashville. Beautiful down there, but I would have liked to be farther from the city.
Believe it or not, they have some in the local liquor store. Packaged with a can of Mountain Dew. The guy at the counter said it wasn't the "good" stuff (he was going by alcohol %).
Now see, Polly - I'm about an hour and 1/2 outside of Nashville and I'm starting to wish I was a little further in. We have a medium sized town 30-40 minutes away, but when it takes that long to get to a place that doesn't have everything you need, well ...
