Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends

Just wanted to let you know we are home.....got here about 11:30, and the day has been hectic.

Shannon went into surgery at 7:45....not out til almost 9:30. Was only supposed to be an hour. Anyway, it is over....and now the healing. She came home with screws in her knee/leg...we didn't know about that before hand. And the "block" they had to put in her hip....while awake...did not go over well.

We also didn't know "no weight bearing" on that leg for six weeks miniumum. She has the leg wrapped top to bottom, with a huge brace...also to be worn 24/7 until further notice. I guess we will both be sleeping down stairs for awhile. Can't do the 16 steps to get upstairs to her room! PT starts Monday already.

Tomorrow is the surgical appt. with Jeanna.

Judy sounds like you're certainly busy, LOL with Skittles, but you can't just scold a bird and tell her that it's a bad word and she can't say that. My goodness! I hate it when that happens with hubbies.

Debbie am praying for your family, and that she will be healed in no time, PT will help with that as well, and Jeanna's surgical appt goes well also.

And I got bad news, Dave was laid off today. His boss talked with him out in the parking lot and they chatted for a long time, his boss did not want to lay him off. Dave's in great spirits, said he's going to rest through the Holidays since he's worked every day since Halloween, then at the first of the year he'll start taking care of business and get himself back on a roll again. He gets paid and keeps his benefits until February 8th, then after that he'll get unemployment unless he's found something else by then.

My foot is not better, the pain has moved but it is not better, so I'm going to call the dr in the morning, explain that Dave lost his job so no money for this crap (I did not need this, I don't know why everything with me can't be simple but this is the way it's been since the day I was born so whatever) but we still have the insurance for a couple of months, and see what he wants to do. I HAVE to have this fixed pronto with as little cost as possible.

Spent a long day today getting new tires on the car, meds for the furry ones and all the Christmas Dinner makings....this will be my first ever Goose! Forgot to eat lunch which was not good for Spin class, no energy left!

You were definitely a chatty group while I was away, I will never get caught up so for now a wave to everyone and wishing you a good nights sleep.

Oh Debbie she must be devastated..it will be hard to keep her quiet for 6 weeks...ohh not good at all..guess the doctors saw more once they were in and had to repair...now Jeanna .. you poor dear... can't even imagine what it would be like with Christmas rush and all to have to add these concerns to the list..sending prayers but most of all soft hugs for you...know you have your plate full but try to let us know how you make out today..

Crissy, I'm so sorry..know it's what you feared and at Christmas no less...Dave's a good worker let's hope he can find something in similar trade or that the company is able to take him back before he has to go on unemployment..not a great way to start the holidays..hugs for you as well...

Trisha, you HAVE to eat! Sounds as though you are going full speed as well..it used to amaze me, Roger was so mellow the weeks prior to Christmas, me I never slept, had to be a perfect Christmas..gifts/home decorated and the trimmings...no wonder he was mellow, only gift he worried about was for me...

I've been up for about an hour already, as you can see by the time I'm posting I should be sound asleep but NOT..thinking of taking a run to Walmart, need some cheese and meat trays for the gang coming this morning then I can tidy up the craft room so they'll have a place to move..lol...

Rain and thunderstorms today, possible severe late tonight and tomorrow with isolated tornadoes, I'm glad I have him home! LOL

Ohhh hello there 'tubby' ..no snow here, extremely cold, maybe flurries although light for next few days..wonderful for travelling..hope you enjoy and don't overdo...does Shirley have some time at home over the holidays?

Wow, been quite a day and not over yet...that's what you get when you are up during the middle of the night..lol..

Vacuumed/dusted upstairs and downstairs, at Walmart and Home Depot..although I bought 3 or 4 more gifts, still sweaters needed for the boys, that's tomorrow though..did groceries and got home and it was 8:15am..shaking my head here..girls and George started to arrive around 9am so just had time to put groceries away and came downstairs...

Nice bunch..all enjoyed the Christmas luncheon..they've just left, I've a few chores, mostly clean-up and the afternoon to myself..should really drive into Midland and Penetang but seeing as I'm delivering gifts tomorrow in same places I'll just make 1 trip..

We were suppose to make little gift, only George because of having a stroke recently couldn't..he was just too cute..he's 82..when it came time for us to open his gift to us, he explained what the gift was...omg, wasn't that at all, his wife had gone out and purchased flameless candles for us all..simply blow and it come on, blow again and out it goes....the look on his face to see us all open it and it wasn't what he thought he was giving..too funny...

I got so many wonderful pressies..I especially like the containers full of homemade sweets..was going out to purchase a tray but now I'll not need to..

Not sure if I told you all while sewing the other night I stepped on a needle, talk about pain, fell backwards, hit my right arm on the stove, it's black and blue and purple..lol.. protected my fall with my right hand..guess carrying all those bags of groceries and working it has cause great pain..can barely use my wrist..perhaps I sprained it after all...

Who knows, might run into town and purchase a tensor glove or wrap to tighten it up...that ought to slow me down...

OK..drum roll please....

Bernie just called, his lawyer called and said that the insurance called and offered a settlement, not near as much as he wanted, sent back the offer and now we'll see...think he wanted $450K and they offered $300 so he sent back offer 1/2 the difference...prayers please..wouldn't it be nice to settle this year and before court case starts Jan.16th... what a Christmas that would be...

If it's not swollen and bruised and extremely sore in one spot it's not broke, if it matches these descriptions, it's more than likely broken. I've had 6 hairline fractures all in my wrists and elbows, I know one by sight anymore. Not exactly what I wanted my life experience to be in...

We're having rain, thunderstorms, a bolt just struck a tree across the street a few minutes ago, I shouldn't be on the computer but I have to keep an eye on radar, you know me! LOL

Got our mud flap project done and delivered to the customer. Then Laura and I needed to get one last gift each...I cannot believe how horrid it is out there...cars, lines of people and very rude people at that. We are glad to be safely home. Our plan is to do baking until around two thirty tomorrow then if the schedule works out with the little one Laura is babysitting we are going to take him and Sage to the afternoon Children's Service at Church. I think they will enjoy that one much more than the Adult services later in the evening. Aside from that we are not venturing out into the melee out there tomorrow.

Betty - I had quite a time finding the Sterno fuel...and now it seems that they have a larger size that doesn't quite fit my fondue pots...but I looked and looked at Walmart for quite some time....never to find any...until recently happening upon some.. (when of course I was NOT looking). Once in the aisle with hurricane lanterns, oils, candles, scents, etc. Then another time in the camping aisle. I do like to keep extra on hand for Hurricanes. I've used them post-Katrina and post-Gustav to cook a quick hot meal...
I wonder if Kyle is talking about a Flash Drive/Memory Stick? I had a young kid (21?) come by and move all my photos from my computer to a DVD...and it DID clear up a Lot of memory...was well worth it....

Morning all,
Christmas Eve day...we'll either be resting up for tomorrow or some will be busier than the dickens trying to finish up but we'll enjoy won't we regardless of which we're doing...

Starting my morning early, trying to finish up those cd cabinets, if not completely finished I'll still put them beside the tree and can give the finishing coats this week while I'm off..enough gifts for them all that I don't have to panic...

Men, I've been calling Greg every day for at least 10 days asking him to get the ski poles/gloves/hat for Melanie for me as he is purchasing the rest of her ski equipment..so finally last night he arrives with poles in hand, said where are the other things, "what things" oh he says, didn't know you wanted them as well..so today back out he goes, Christmas Eve day fighting the crowds to pick them up...didn't listen to mom....then, says he's been working day and night getting equipment ready for Winnepeg hospital as he's flying out in a few weeks and now he had to take the 3 telephones I bought for the kids, go on-line (I would have paid the store to do it - but no, bought them ions ago and he said he'd register and set them up) now he had to be up after the kids went to bed and do it for me...

He sure doesn't take after mom for being organized...

I'll leave the house around 8:30, get my hair done, head into Midland and Penetang to deliver gifts and spend 1/2 hr. with a few Aunts/Uncle, drop off a gift at MIL's (yuk) then be home for the afternoon then off to friends around 6:00pm...

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE EVERYONE!!!!

It's been tornadoing south of me, Arkansas broke a record yesterday, as of 6:00pm last night we have had the most rain in one year ever recorded in history, the radar has looked like this since yesterday morning so we're way above it now.

If anyone is traveling Be Careful!!!! Every weather report I have listened to says, "Do Not take this storm lightly!!!" Not good when they start saying that!

I realized as I was walking across my living room a few minutes ago, I'm not limping near as bad... hhhhhhmmmmmmmm

I'm so glad we don't have to go anywhere, especially Little Rock because there's a huge section of I-30 that is closed because it's flooded. If I wasn't off work today, I would be now!

Youngest Jeff decided to come up tonight so I wouldn't be alone Christmas Eve..he's just gone over to Greg and Melanie's then coming back to wrap his gifts...took my car because he got a dirt bike for Greg's boys for Christmas and doesn't want them to see it till tomorrow morning... I'm sure the boys will be thrilled to death...so cute, he's already been under the tree shaking gifts that are marked 'Jeff ' and guessing what each is...told him I'd do the same to mine, bring them in..lol..no actual gift..always gives me $$$ as he knows I've always got some project planned and how right he is...this week I want a new washroom countertop, zinc and taps put in...

Greg already called to see if we want to be called early morning to go see the boys open their gifts...yep..so won't be a late night for me...

Going to tidy up, get into my jammies .. Jeff already reminded me that when he get's home it's family tradition that he can open '1' gift...kids always aren't they? well, he's still my baby..

Thank you all for the Christmas greetings..think we were up too early..lol..Jeff's having a nap, Greg/Mel and the boys are at the Legion serving breakfast for those in need or without families and then coming over to do our gifts..

Jeff will be returning home this evening, picking up the boys and returning tomorrow evening...so yet another Christmas day tomorrow...

Melanie was thrilled with her ski boots and wii fit...in fact we enjoyed playing..Jeff thought maybe I should hit Walmart or the Superstore tomorrow and purchase one for myself...

I get a kick out of parents..boys got a wii band unit for Christmas...kids sitting idly by while parents are playing..Greg on guitar, Jeff on drums and Melanie lead singer...lol

Talk about excited kids when they went out into the garage and saw what Uncle Jeff gave them for Christmas

Trisha, another photo for you, know you are heavy into cycling..see what Greg did for their bikes...all sit up towards ceiling until needed then the shelving drops for easy access

Got to tell you, I'm not the only 'can't sit person or neat freak' in the family..while opening gifts, Greg's making sure all is picked up and everything in it's place..told him he hat to SIT DOWN...didn't work
