If you machine sew rather than tack..you'll end up with a seam like this ...if you can live with it ok..if not..get that needle and start sewing...

You know when you do a project you just know the steps, trying to show someone, well a few things might be missed, hope not..hope you are able to do it and share with others...

thanks much Betty, going to add a few of these to my "to do" list...when I get back to sewing....after the kids go back home....using all my non-working hours to enjoy them as much as I can right now.......

My son leaves on the 2nd of Jan, driving home with the dog, and all the baby gear. DIL and GD will fly out the 6th....sure will be quiet around here with out the baby....I will miss them all so very much....good thing I have lots to sew to keep me busy......

Sounds as though you've a full slate to keep you busy without the sewing Barefoot...

Debbie, did you hear about the couple lost 4 days, stuck, because of following gps..lordy, at least we had giggles galore being lost in cornfield...lol ..all kidding aside guess they are lucky to be alive...

Called mom, said her pooch still not feeling the best, I said we could leave tomorrow but she decided NOT...

So I'm dressed, it's bitter cold outside, I've let the car idle..going to drive to Meaford if weather permits and see if I can purchase a dresser/headboard for back bedroom..get out of the house for awhile...

Was gabbing with my girlfriend Rita, she had plans to take her dog for needles at 1:00..her hubby Jerry is an Ontario Provincial Policeman, he finishes at noon so she thought it would be a great day to join me in hitting craft stores, candle factory and Meaford warehouse..nothing nicer than having a friend join in your antics...

So at the door are the envelopes waiting to go out..not sure who really wanted what so included the afghan crochet pattern and chart and the plastic/bone and grab all to the envelope and will stop and mail them on my way out..let's hope they take the quick route, should do as they are just envelopes..Barefoot, sent you one as well..

Could have added the cut out material but know you all want to use up leftover stock..lol..did find sewing material i.e. spools of thread on the yardage..will look adorable..if DIL Melanie can't come over tonight to do her 2 then I'll make them for her..easy once the machine is out and they are cut out...

Got to con Greg or Mel to come help me moves and organize my craft room/sewing and knitting machine area...lol

We had some wild wind here last night, blowing the snow all over, but not much on the ground here. Jeanna said there was a "Blizzard" on her way home...but it was fine when she got to her area....which is just East of Niagara Falls area where you will be.
I will talk to her shortly and see what her "going to work" report was.

Have a great day everyone, if it's snowing/icing stay inside unless you have to go to work of course. We're supposed to get freezing rain tonight which could make the drive to work tomorrow very slick, if it's bad I'll wait until it melts! I won't drive in that.

Betty, I just talked to Jeanna...and to Michael. Jeanna works in Buffalo. She said it is very windy, snow blowing and temp is -5 down there. Mike said Lockport area is horrible, took him twice as long to get to work. They get the weather that came threw Niagara Falls. Right now the wind and blowing seem to be the major issue.

Betty....What type of plastic are you using on the inside? I have all the materials for this project, but just need to know about the plastic. Also, I read that the plastic shipping straps that come on boxes will work for the plastic around the top if some one has that and not boning. I actually got two of the more narrow ones from paper boxes at work and used shipping tape to take them together and make them a little wider. I am planning to make a variation of this this weekend, but instead of the pin cushion, I am going to make a padded "thing" to replace the dishtowel that is now under my machine to keep it from scratching my dining room table. I am still going to use velcro to hold the bag on and may even put a pocket to hold a seam ripper or scissors. Don't really have it all that well planned out, but I think it will work.

Shuggins...I purchased 1 yard of bedding plastic, they type they use to put on matress in hospital and seniors complex..very durable...I thought it expensive, $16.98 yard but it's wide .. think I got 14 from it so really just over $1.00 each..the boning is $2.98 yd. (get 2 out of it) very stiff..more so than the strips you were talking about but if you double it it should work..

I was looking for a dresser, narrow to put in back bedroom..because I just had a patio door/deck installed I had to get rid of the big dresser...hardly anyone ever uses that room so I came up the a 'staging' idea..going to move things around from living room and basement and make a little decorative setting..then I thought tomorrow I would go to Canadian Tire, see if they have those decorative storage trays, pick up wood and make something, not quite sure what it is, still floating in my head...lol

Now what did I buy??? actually I surprised myself..had $700 from Christmas money, spent less than $75. imagine that..you'll never guess what I bought..too funny...

I've enough Christmas stuff to decorate 2 houses, but this one store had a mega sale on Christmas things..an 8 piece nativity et, now you should see it, it was originally $249.99 and then reduced to I believe it was $140.00 and then to $32 (?) or so, then when we got to pay it was further reduced by 25%..couldn't believe it...

Question is, do I need it, nope, I already have a lovely set, BUT, my thoughts are if I don't want it come next Christmas what a beautiful gift it will make...

I have to drop in to my MIL and SIL's tomorrow or Thursday, thought I'd buy them a trinket..did you see the purse clutch that you carry with you, it enables you to hand your purse on any table????? yes? no? well I bought them each one..forgot about me, next time I guess...then at the candle shop I couldn't resist the sage candle, so I'm off to light it, have a bath and just relax...

Yes, was thrilled with my purchases..best of all got 4 more items....ohhh bought 2 gardening sets, I'm sure they'll come in handy...can't believe what I got them for..then of course these purse holders...if you haven't seen them work I'll show you...

Snowed heavily last night, want to drive into Midland this morning and drop into my MIL's for 1/2 hr...(that 's 28 minutes too long) lol..feel I should seeing it's nearing the anniversary of Roger's death and my FIL...we've both tried to get over my dealing with Roger's last requests but that will never happen so I just keep plugging, doing it for him...family commitment never ends right?

Then I'll go look for flooring for kitchen and countertop/zinc and taps..think I know which I want, now just have to put package together...

Brrr it's chilly down here..time to turn on the furnace, get myself a coffee and maybe do some shovelling...how's that for a plan?

WOW Betty! You made out like a bandit! Now we know how much of a markup is on items in the store, ridiculous! I'm so glad you didn't go to Buffalo with the weather and all.

If something bad were to happen to Dave I highly doubt I'd ever see his family again. He's not close to them so that makes me even more distant, kudos to you Betty, that's extremely hard to do.

Barefoot you did do good! I'm one of those who will buy something at a good discount, or what I think is a good discount, then find the identical thing somewhere else for a deeper discount. I'm learning that most stores, like JC Penney (I love that store but oh my) will have say a sweater priced at $35.00. They will put it on sale for 50% off, making it $17.50, which is the normal amount we should be paying for the thing to begin with. Makes me mad but I love JC Penney so it's not likely I'm going to boycott the store anytime soon. Oh well.

Hope your careful shoveling Betty! Or by this time were careful shoveling, I'm about 5 hours late LOL

Shovelling all done, December block in an envelope waiting to be posted..doing a bit of furniture moving, then getting dressed and off to town to visit and shop...

It's hard to believe how much many of the items we purchase have little to no value and are marked up..just take a loot a $$$ stores, and, they make money don't they..

well, I'm off..hoping to find something that I have in mind without paying a fortune for it..lol
