Barb...received your e-mail..was typing a NOVEL, thought oooohh what is Barb sending me, forgot that when I access the e-mail..puff..just like the magic dragon all is lost in cyber space...oh well, let's try this agin...

Debbie, I was laughing so loud when I read your post about the GPS...yep, lots are in for an adventure of their lives...from corn fields to driving 1 hr and ending up at same location started...I know/I know you will all say it's the person that programmed it..but NOT...right Debbie, defend me here...we could blame Scotty because it was ALL because we wanted to pick up chocolate for him..lol..regardless, it was fun..that's what holidays are for right?

Sure wish I was there when you were going through your mom's snowman decoration collection...so glad the girls are decorating their homes with some as well..tribute to your mom at Christmas..know you miss her terribly...speaking of mom's...just after Christmas mom wants me to bring her somewhere if we don't escape to Florida..any suggestions as you are so familiar with the region..don't want to drive an entire day to bring her somewhere, if I was then I might as well drive her to Florida...am sure wherever we go there will be a CrackerBarrel lol

Good luck with shopping, am sure you will drop into the Christmas Tree store..saw a few things on their flyer they send me yesterday that i would enjoy having..loved the clock that plays christmas songs different each hour...hope some are left by the time I get there...let us know how the girls make out with their appts.

Did you ever get your progressive drivers' license..would be nice maybe for you to come up a few days while I'm off???

Barb, am working on the last row of the afghan, then attaching the 3 rows I've in the bag to the afghan and then it's border time...have some patterns already done up if you think you would like one..know that you love quilts and this one once completed will look like a quilt...let me know...

As for being tired, it's a good tired..just late evenings, early mornings and much to do..after this weekend (hoping to get the golf cd cabinets painted) it will be feet up..trying to organize when I'll do Christmas dinner where everyone can be together..not easy..Jeff takes turns with Lisa having the kids Christmas Eve and 1/2 Christmas day BUT he's never taken his turn..always waits until Boxing Day..says they are well adjusted boys, Lisa is strong in the Church so lots of family things going on plus Lisa has step children their age and a new baby so he feels that it's in their best interest to enjoy the holidays in family atmosphere and then he'll have them and come up...last year he surprised me and came up for Christmas Even so I wouldn't be alone...if you remember we had all had out Christmas together, I felt bad so went out and bought him gifts for a 2nd time so there would be something under the tree for him...

Well I've written my 2nd novel of the day..time to get back to my granny squares..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty. Thanks for the new room!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning LindaKay, what are you up to today?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Shirley Bless You. Betty's right, you need a case of beer. I'm glad they're willing to teach you everything about how to care for him. Prayers are still being sent.

We're having a huge catastrophe here in the office today so I don't have time to read and catch up, but here's an update from my dr visit yesterday about my foot.
My dr is so honest and I am so glad he's married or it just might cause a catastrophe! LOL He had one foot cradled in one hand, the other cradled in the other hand. He's looking at them, comparing them, looks me dead in the eye and says, "Christine, I am so sorry, I really don't know what's wrong with your foot." I said, "I know you don't, just as long as we know it's not life threatening or foot threatening I really don't care, I just want the pain to go away." He did find a really tender pressure point so we talked it over and decided to treat it as Morton's Neuroma, but I don't think he put the Cortizone shot in the right place, but then again I'm not sure it even matters. It is doing better but my toes are stiff from the shot so it's hard to tell, he said it could take up to 5 days for me to not be sore from the shot, but I seem to be afraid to put much pressure on it. It doesn't hurt near as bad to walk on it, so that's awesome. He said if that didn't work he'll have to send me to an orthopedic specialist. Boo.
So I went home, had three glasses of Eggnog and Brandy and caught a buzz, and sat in the floor and wrapped presents until 11:30 last night and my foot was burning big time. I got online and paid for UPS to come to my house to pick them up sometime today, which ended up being cheaper than if I were to take them to the post office! It's two big boxes, one is going to Oklahoma City for my mom and step-dad, the other is going to Joplin, Missouri for my dad and his girlfriend. Whew!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, I sure hope the shot h elps you out. But keep in mind, that if it does help, you can only get three shots per year. Too much and it can cause more damage! Glad to hear you got your wrapping and shipping done.
Hey Betty, not doing much today, but will try to do last minutes shopping tomorrow with hubby. We will be going to San Antonio for Christmas with my youngest sone, his wife and two Grandsons. The we will have another Christmas at New Years when my daughter in law comes in with my Granddaughter.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh LK Thank you! I want to go walk the county courthouse tomorrow night and look at all the lights without being in too much pain. Now that I'm home and in my PJ's my foot feels a lot better, but it feels weird, like it wants to twist when I'm lifting it up from taking a step. Probably the shot causing that. Not limping near as much. Now I get to go try to fix my kitchen sink. I wanna say, NEXT!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

NEXT is a good thing Crissy..see you say 'you' will fix the zinc, oh my, don't get into any mischief doing that..make sure water supply turned off..brave little one...

Early morning, set the alarm for 5:30..ohhh forgot it was Saturday..oh well will give me a head start to the day, much to do...

Always enjoy giving myself a goal..so here goes..

Finish last 2 rows on afghan border...
Basecoat on the cd cabinets...
hem track pants for Rita/Cathy
Make at least 4 floral arrangements and deliver...
8 gifts yet to be wrapped...
quick trip into Midland...

So by Monday morning let's see just how much of this list that I've accomplished...

Guess with this being the last weekend before Christmas you've all got a list a mile long to do as well..

Shirley thinking of you both..hugs and a soft kiss for Tubby..tell him to get back to his normal self, this gal just might take a summer vacation you way to give him one myself...

Hope you drop in to share, I'll share my day as well..always makes it fun thinking you are all with me...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, your up early. I could n ot sleep, so the coffee pot was the first thing I did, now I am here checking out all the threads.
Sounds like you have a list to keep you busy?
Todd and I are going to try and hit the stores this morning before they get too busy, for some last minutes items for the grandkids. I have to find something for my Dad, and get that shipped too. Geesh, nothing like waiting till the last minutes! LOL!
Have a good morning, and enjoy working on your projects. Be careful if you have to drive anywhere.
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay maybe you are up because you are excited over Christmas shopping or could it be worrying the stores will carry the gift items you want..lol..regardless you'll have an early start..

Yes, worked until late last night putting the afgan quilt look together..just finished 2 rows of border and it's ready to package, wrap..am sure Darlene will love receiving it..she's always cold..thought I might include it in the box with the wood carved racoon I bought for Mike her hubby but then the wood chips might pull the wool so a box of it's own it will be, so put that on the list..find a box..lol

Did it in her colors..think I just might pick up more wool and do one for myself as I've extra blocks done..

Sun is coming up..it's a cold morning but omg it's beautiful out there..put my jacket on and took a photo for you all...

It's off to town, don't you love 24hr store openings during Christmas season..hoping to be back by 9 .. then onwards to the floral arrangements..

Victoria Harbour, ON

How's this for a 'messy' Santa's workshop...I'll be glad when all the projects are done and I can clean...perhaps by Sunday I can..

2 cd cabinets stained just waiting for me to get home from shopping..can hear them say, 'paint me/paint me'..

Colin, company lawyer was laughing yesterday, I was telling him about the gold cd cabinets as he golfs a lot with son Jeff..said he can recall getting up and finding gifts under the tree still wet from paint that his mom had made him..might be the same here..lol

Cross your fingers that I can find matt gold candles..on the table here you can see the gold/green flowers and decorations for DIL Melanie's arrangement..wouldn't look good unless I can find that specific color...Bernice's, friend across the street is in maroon red, so that's easy..as for the others perhaps white candles...

Off I go on yet another adventure...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

According to your schedule, you should be getting back home soon. I just loved your picture of the early morning trees. How beautiful!!!
I would love your directions for those afghan squares. I'm sure Darlene is going to love it as well especially since she knows it was made with love in every stitch. I like the way it looks like a patchwork quilt (Trip around the World pattern).
I have one of those CD cabinets myself. It was painted by my friend Elaine and has a snowman on it. I keep all the Christmas CDs and videos in it. Sure beats looking through everything for them!!!!
Quick message to Tubby and Shirley - hope the move home has gone smoothly. Please drop a line when you can. Our prayers are ongoing....
We are due for snow tonight. We are on the northern edge of the mess coming up the east coast. From NC all the way north our friends are being dumped on. Some are expected to get as much 15-18 inches of snow. We only expect about 8 inches here in NH. Please say a prayer that they all remain safe and warm....
Off to get busy with sewing something - not sure what I'm working on today.
Have a great one. Barb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, just got back and yes right on schedule...sitting down to do a few minutes of banking then onto the schedule..

I'll get the pattern into the mail Monday, promise...and yes, am sure she'll like it..

Still sewing? promised Lillyfan to do step by step grab all bag that takes about 1/2 hours to make, side pockets and top you can use as a pincushion or really just for looks..sits on chair or couch arm..great little gift..

Perhaps while I wait for paint to dry on the cabinets this aft. I'll do the instructions with photo's, might be something you want to try especially if you have some fat quarters laying around..

Best I not linger

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Me!! Have fat quarters laying around???? Why would I have them?? Silly lady - I've more fat quarters than brains!!! Would love to try something new... And a definite yes to afghan squares pattern. It's been too long since I started one and all my crochet mags were given away when I started quilting....Foolish me. I thought it best to give to someone who could use them... She sure has so it was the right thing to do.
Enjoy your day and send when you can. Hugs, Barb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do Barb...

Liz, know you've a zillion bottle caps, sure wish you could send me some...it's ok, going to find a place by Tuesday where they make homemade beer so I can buy a bag of them...

Thanks for the offer but need them by Wednesday...another time perhaps

Don't you just love watching paint dry?

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Liz..those are gorgeous..you are too creative..

Barb, yooohooo you there for about 1/2 hr????

Ok girl, I need one of these for my DIL Melanie to go into her sewing box, which I want to wrap up today so going to take 1/2 hr. break and make one....

Are you ready?

Into your stash and find material (don't think fat quarters though will give you the dimensions but maybe they will)

Material with a design (your option)

2 pieces 21 1/2 by 10 1/2

Solid color (but if you don't have any, co-ordinating pattern would do...

need 2 pieces 13 x 10 1/2 - folded and ironed so that you now have 2) 6 1/2 x 10 1/2

Also 1 piece approx. 7" x 10 1/2" ( sewn lengthwise to make a tube) now you've a piece approx 3 1/2" wide by 10 1/2 inches long...

Batting...I use the heavier white 'so soft' that I use for crafts, if you don't have any but have regular batting cut a few and layer them ...you need 21 1/2 by 10 1/2

Go to it..

Won't give you further directions unless I know you are interested in making this quick project...

Pacifica, CA

oh i know what i was going to say lol forgot to tell you the afgan is beautiful !
now on those name tags, what is the tag and where did you find them? love that idea!!!!!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You can use watercolor paper stock but I used up my left overs from cards..backing etc.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess Barb is sewing...well I'll continue on my own...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Little off track so having a 5 minute break and moving on..

Kyle decided to drop in, needed another gift..lol..so while grandma was doing her arrangements Kyle was doing his...nice to have a working bud...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

No girls but I've got Kyle who always wants to be making a project..kept telling me he couldn't wait until I saw what he made me for Christmas..am sure had I said, 'please tell' he'd have jumped at the chance...

Sorry I missed the original "call to crafts". Norm's sister and her husband have dropped in for the afternoon. Right now Norm and BIL are out in garage, SIL is reading a new novel and I got a chance to be here for a few. Betty, I am keeping all these directions so please continue if you can. I'll get to start when they go home although that may not be until this evening. Oh well, family dropping in is always fine....And thank you for thinking of me today...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Finished project Barb...
Timed it, just under 15 minutes, no hand sewing, no seams to hide...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, sits on an arm rest, could be used as I said for remote control etc. and made larger if you wish..

Just wished I'd have had plain material for the 2 pockets..you'll see that the pocket on each end is divided by sewing a seam making 2 equal pockets at each end...

Now that my break is over..lol..back to floral arrangements..I've deliveries to make tonight...

Am I still on schedule?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I am tired just from reading! So many beautiful projects and I loved the snow picture!!

Cleaning and gift wrapping here today. Bill has promised to take the load of cardboard with him to recycle at lunch so that will finally be out of the way. Then continuing with the little wooly dog project...I don't have any glass eyes so may have to find the eye mold I used for the polymer gnomes and fairies....

Well nothing will get done if I don't get up and get started. Talk to you all later.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty, I just love the project. I'm sure I can do that. AND I also love your seat cover!!!! what a great idea to make them to just fit the seat. So much easier.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha, you got to take a break though 'sweetie'

I just LOVE to see and hear about Santa's Elves working and projects they are working on...

Barb..I've taken photo's of each step..will post them on my next break..

Think next break will be soon because I'm running out of greenery..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

You all must be busy doing projects of your own..would love to see them..

Calling it a night, Greg just came for spaghetti supper, omg I fell asleep on the couch, guess I wasn't much company..he's headed home after putting on 100 miles on his snowmobile, 1st. outing so it's hot tub time for him..

My brother Mike is on his way down, both he and Greg will be going out tomorrow for the day..I said 'NO ICE' sure hope he listens..

Greg took Melanie's table arrangement home, Kyle's present for his grandparents so now I can sweep the craft room and call it a night..

Ended up with 3 arrangements and 2 that are greenery only..will put them out on back deck until next Thursday, at that time I'll put in the roses and deliver Christmas eve to 2 of my aunts..will save me playing with greenery again...

Mel's living room has tones of green/gold so did this arrangement to match her decor..wish the photo's did them justice..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Mom and Jim are at the cottage .. as they'll be spending Christmas Day this year with Mike (was my turn last year) they will drop in tomorrow morning at which time we can exchange gifts..she has all her grannie squares done for the same afghan I did so will show her how to put them together and that will keep her out of mischief this week..

When I said I was doing arrangements, of course she said make me one please...one goes to Bernice/Cliff, was going to deliver their tonight but thought I'd give mom the choice of which she wants...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, got 2 sewing arm chair pieces done...one for me and one for Melanie, I'll fill it with her sewing things I purchased..am sure she'll also enjoy...

You know me, I'm an early riser and get more than my share done in one day, but come evening, I'm done in...soooo
it's to bed I go..

Best of the day...accomplishing much, having Kyle come and work along side me and Greg for supper

Worse of the day..omg you not likely will believe me..playing with that pin cushion, one must have stuck in the rug at the door, stepped on it and it went right threw my slipper, screamed blue murder, lost my balance, tried to stop myself from falling, landed on the floor, hit my head on a chair...I'm ok though..lol...just shook my head and got up..Greg saw me limping around and wanted to know what had happened..told him and got the riot act about how I do far too much, should be enjoying just sitting and relaxing...he should know better than to tell me that!!!!

What did I learn...don't think anything, been to busy to be learning anything..lol..

So it's bettybys for now
good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow

Shirley, hope tubby's had a good day!

Oh Betty,. I can smell the Evergreen!

Between cleaning, had to make run to the Knit Shop for some more roving wool... want to get both dogs finished before I stop to mold the eyes...

This is the little felted dog I am attempting to make for Laura to give to my MIL. It is in progress and looks a bit funny without the eyes and nose etc.. It is a replica of her dog Pepper whose health, at age thirteen, is not good these days. Then I want to do one of Buddy, her younger dog who is all black and white.

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

This was my very first felting project a few years ago...the directions use felted eyes, which I don't care for... I think when I do the eyes for Buddy and Pepper I will make a set for the little Chi also..

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Last is little puddle duck....

omg glad I stopped in as I was turning the lights off down here..how absolutely adorable...you created them without a pattern? your mom will be thrilled to have a replica of her beloved dog...they look so soft..what material did you say you used for body, is it specialty item?

This time I'm really off to bed..

night/night
