HOHOHO...ONLY SIX TO GO

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

My kids certainly did. Even the neighborhood kids learned that when it was time to go they needed to have me walk them to the end of the drive, otherwise Abby would not let them leave....grin JJ, your Abby is the one little GS painted with the marker the other day isn't she? I still find that funny, even though I know it was a panic for a few moments....grin

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

The herding dog I love the most is the Queenland heeler/Australian Cattle dog. I had one, my first one and she would also herd people if there was nothing else to herd. She was a great protector of me. I got her at 12 weeks old and she had been abused. It took me about 3 months to win her over and after that, I was not allowed out of her sight. She was fifteen, going blind and allergic to fleas and most flea soaps when I had to put her down. One day I will have another on. For now I have two cats and that's enough.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

A kid intent on stealing a bike discovered the hard way how protective Abby was....he was afraid of dogs, and climbed up on top of the VWbug to get away from her. She was circling the car, keeping him there until DH and I came out the door. Them, much to the young man's surprise, she hopped up onto the roof of the VW beside him....he jumped down to run away and she caught his pantleg and laid him out facedown in the grass....poor boy had to explain to his parents not only why he was stealing a bike, but why his pantleg was ripped and his pants "soiled"....she was a very good watchdog....grin

Hi Marti. Welcome to the gypsy thread. Australian heelers are lovely dogs and yes very protective. Now we have a pair of Beagles(8) and a Springer Spaniel(61/2) and 3 cats (two 13+ and one 5)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Okay, hope you all have a lovely evening. Going to do some baking with the GS...hopefully he won't eat it as fast as it comes out of the oven...grin Teen-age boys and hollow legs don't ya know.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Flowers, sorry.there were no shepherds in sight, the sheep in my photo were in the home field, the one nearest the house.
Moon,Abby must've been a real character:}

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

you and GS have a good evening baking Moon, never fails as soon as I get ready to talk on here the phone rings. Hi Marti good to see ya back, hope you haven't gotten the heavy snows some of us have.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Good Night Joy, rest up and hopefully will catch ya on here tomorrow, stay warm!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

No heavy snows, but the first for me. Calif breed and born, I rarely saw snow unless I drove up to it and just could not handle the Calif idiots in the snow. AT this time I'm enjoying the snow and cold. but I miss my gardening year round. I'm busy planning my garden here and enjoying all the wonderful gifts other DG members have given to me and traded me for. I havn't had much to trade and right now are trading painted birdhouse gourds for seeds and plants.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Welcome Marti, glad you joined us. If you don't have enough snow I will give you some of mine :)

Yes Moon Abby is the one that got painted. She is actually oldest GS dog but lives here...long story, but then he is here most the time anyway.

Little one is so funny every time he sees a present he says" I got toys".

Flowers I almost had a cow as I was mixing that potato mixture, you didn't say it would turn to goo first as I was adding powdered sugar little at a time, but it finally turned into a ball.
Thought for a minute I was having a contest with Lynnie for gooiest mess. LOL

Back to the kitchen . Catch you all later. Have fun Moon I'm almost done for tonight.

Oh and flowers will ya clean my bathrooms too??

(Zone 5b)

hi all! I'm in a soup mood, just put some tomato soup on.
I ran a few errands this afternoon, now I'm ready to RELAX. Hungry, too, getting a little cranky.
Cute sheep Joy....lucky them to have warm coats!
Little one came home with another platter of cookies. groooaaaannnn

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi everyone. Hope everyone had a good day.

I hid all my cookies, DS stopped by after work. That was after I spent $217 at the grocery store. I beat my personal best. Even if I take off the $65 in gift cards, I beat it. DS mentioned a certain purple vegetable for Christmas dinner, I got the hint. (eggplant parmesan). That means a pot of sauce, too. That's what Christmas Eve is for, at my house. There used to be a family party on DH's side, but it disbanded a few years ago. OK by me, I could use the relaxing night.

Hope everyone has a good night, enjoyed the stories of sheep herding and dogs.

See you in the am!

(Zone 5b)

That's funny Smiley I bought stuff for sauce too.
I think I've spent more on groceries the last two weeks then I ever did, with all the baking!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hey gang just popped in to say goodnight, gonna get grandkids tomorrow and keep thru Tues. evening so won't have much time for computer play. Smiley who got the 25 dollar card :-) I've spent way too much in the grocery store doing the baking too. JJ the dough will work better for you if after forming a ball split it into small balls and let chill in fridge before rolling. You probably figured that out by now. And sure I clean bathrooms for cookies lol. Marti glad you are enjoying the snow, I love seeing it fall. I can apprecate all the work and talent that goes into the birdhouse gourds My friend tried it and saw real quick how time consuming it can be. They are very pretty though. Lynnie be nice and go eat a cookie lol. Night All catch ya when I can!

Hi Marti, thank's for joining us. Hope all have had a great weekend.

Flower's, that is a big snowman for sure. Lynnie, I will take the cookie with the hershey kiss in the middle and Joy those sheep look like they can handle cold weather any time.

Trina, look's like you are still receiving some nice plant's and I like your santa outfit on your lil chupacabra.

We got one foot of snow in my neighborhood. That was "light" compared to some area's in Va. Wishing all a very restful sleep.

Coffee's on! Wake up! Smiley where are you?
Moon we need a countdown!
Christmas is coming! We have work to do!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm here, I'm here!

I realized last night I forgot about the caramel corn in my baskets. Do I do it? I actually may have time, now that I'm all shopped & wrapped..

(Zone 5b)

only if you want to! lol my stuff comes out much better if I don't feel pressured. I meant to make my olive tapenade yesterday and I forgot because I wanted tomato soup.
I still need to go grocery shopping for xmas eve.

(Zone 5b)

oh guess what, the door is out of my den! :)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Morning Ladies. 36 degrees outside....supposed to be in the 70's Wednesday...FAugh! 16 dozen cookies and 4 dozen chocolate oatmeal no bakes...insanity reigns supreme. I really need coffee. grin

Where did the door go Lynn? Is it now a table? MMMMM Smiley Eggplant parmesan.
Flowers have a grand time with the grands. Rachel, beautiful horses...guess they are a bit confused by all the snow also. Hi Marti, DG'ers are nice that way....grin sort of like a great big welcome wagon for you and your garden. Hopefully you will feel just as comfortable here at gypsy central...grin
I agree Joy, newspaper was a much better bargain than TV last night. JJ had to laugh at the thought of you with a huge bowl of white goo....at least it didn't look as bad as Lynn's cat glop....grin

Going to refill the cup...and find my fuzzy socks...

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Here is your countdown Lynnie....grin (new thread)
