Flowers, you must be getting the overflow of snow from VA. I heard that Roanoke VA is to get 12 inches!!!! Poor Rachel!!!

Moon, those flowers are absolutely beautiful!!!! Wow!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Here is a daylight photo of the brass candlestick so you can see them better.

Hi Venice. I love your GW candlestick collection. They are so elegant and shiny...

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks! I really like them too. As soon as I shine up my bells on my door knob, I will take a photo of them.

It is so funny, I never thought as my ceramic Christmas tree as retro. I guess it has been long enough that they are! At GW you can see a top in white or green but not the bottom. I guess most people have broken theirs.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi everyone,hope you're all having a good day so far,sorry I didn't get chance to chat yesterday,it was just one of those days when I seemed to run from one thing to another.
We had a light fall of snow yesterday afternoon and a little more in the evening.Then it's frozen,so the paths are very slippery.It's 25f now at 5.15,so feeling a lot colder than it's been so far since last winter.
Venice,I like your candlesticks and I've looked at your ceramic Christmas tree photo on the last thread,I think it's lovely,I've not seen one like it before,I'm sure.
Moon,that's a pretty flowering plant,is it a Hydrangea?,if so i've 2 in my garden,but they're certainly not in bloom at present :}
JJ,I hope you ,DH and little grandson get better soon.
Back in a short while
Joy

Keaau, HI

That flower is Tabernaemontana divaricata 'Flore Pleno', Double Crepe-Gardenia / Fleur-D'Amour.
It looks very similar to a Gardenia bush, but is quite poisonous!

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Dave,hello,thanks for that info,Gardenias are beautiful plants.What's the weather like in your part of the world?Is it lizard friendly?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Afternoon all.

JJ, I hope your household feels better soon.

Venice, those candlesticks look even prettier in the daylight. I didn't consider the 70's retro either, until my kids kept mentioning it. Why, that was just yesterday...

Hi again Moon. Flowers must have gone back to bed. Or maybe shoveling?

How's the weather in Hawaii, Dave?? If you have some sunshine and warmth to spare, can you send it to us mainlanders?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi Joy! How are you & your family doing? Dad's doing good, I hope.

Your gypsy package should be arriving anytime, I would think. It left the US on December 13th, only 5 days after it was posted. They just want to confirm what everyone already knows: snail mail.

The day is flying by, see everyone later. Stay warm & dry!

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi Smiley,yes my family are all ok,thankyou ,including my dad,who seems about back to his normal self now.
As soon as my package arrives,I'll let you know,I can't wait :},although not sure if it being almost Christmas,may slow it down.
keep having a good day,just past 6pm here already!!Sons now finished school for holidays.
Talk later
Joy

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Afternoon all,
Thanks for all the well wishes. Starting to feel better oldest GS back at school and youngest full of pep.. sigh.. so they are better.

Both are going home late this afternoon so maybe I can get things back together and DH can come out of the BR.
DH says he has to plow snow as it is snowing out but I told him the pull-ups I have won't fit so he better stay in bed next to bathroom...I am sooo mean.

Lynnie you have been over doing my cardio think I lost 5 pounds last two days..lol

Moon the flowers are beautiful thank you, can almost smell them

Got to go tend to the flock catch you all later.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi JJ,glad you feel better just don't go and overdo anything and tire yourself out.Typical of children,ill one minute recovered the next.Take care all of you.:}

Keaau, HI

The weather is still "lizard friendly" but they are not as active as when it is hot.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

That's same as my Tortoise,he dashes about when it's hot and sunny outside.Although he's quite lively indoors when the heating's on.We''ve a temp of 25 degrees here tonight and it's only 7pm,so may get cooler later.
Like that picture,are they all furns in the front of the photo? and what type are the trees?

Keaau, HI

Hi Joy! Those are palms & bananas in the foreground of the photo.

The trees are Hawaiian 'Ohi'a, Metrosideros polymorpha.

Here are 'Ohi'a trees in bloom.

Thumbnail by Metrosideros
Dronfield, United Kingdom

Dave,thanks for photo,the blossoms on the 'Ohi' a trees look as though they'd feel like feathers to the touch.They're a lovely colour.Metrosideros ......is that why you chose the name for you on DG?I'll remember palms and Bananas,not Ferns :}

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hello Joy. Hiya Dave....Hey Smiley...hang in it is Friday....grin JJ...how come Grandmas and moms only get 12 hours to fight a 24 hour bug??? Feel well soon.

The sun is shining here....ssssshhh....don't want the clouds to notice and return......we have gotten close to 13 inches of rain in the past two weeks plus all we got for the month. going to get colder tonight....what a trade off..grin

Pretty pics Dave.

Thanks Joy and JJ, I just wish the hydranges were blooming now...photo from last year.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi Moon,yes,glad it's Friday.School's done now for the holidays:}
That's an awful lot of rain you've had!!,so glad you've sun today:},as i said,it's cold here tonight too,but lovely ,clear and starry.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sounds like a near perfect winter night. Know the boys are looking forward to their holiday. My tiny grands in Australia are going to the Sunshine coast for three days this weekend. The oldest loves hotels, he is 4.

Oldest GSJordan has 2 half days for exams left. His holiday starts Wednesday the 23rd and goes through the day after Twelfth Night. He is so pleased because his Algebra2 course will be over and no math until next Fall. I will be glad for no math also...grin

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Yes,only younger son does maths still,older one took exam for it at age 16 and then didn't choose to study it further.I've never been able to master maths and won't bother trying to now.DH helps Will:}
Thats so sweet a four year old loving to stay in hotels:}he'll find it an exciting adventure.
You have a good weekend too,I'll probably be on to chat from time to time.
Take care
Joy
