Power out all day at our house. They finally got us back on at 6 tonight. Only two other houses still out when we went back on line. Fun to be able to go online via cell phone to see a little light bulb with a line through it on the map showing our house with no electric. Lots of wind last night. I think it must have been blowing a steady 30 to 50 MPH. Snowed a good deal, but lots just blew away with all the wind. I would say we have only at most 8" on the ground. Now in the mid 20's and still gusting at around 30.
The Birds were very busy chowing down all day too. No Junco's, though. They were getting really blown around. Patti
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 58
I guess that our winds were not as bad as the juncos busy at our feeder & on the ground. One especially was digging away at the snow. Female cardinals, titmice, downy woodpecker, white thoated sparrow (DH ID that one, white breasted nuthatch. We had put up our new suet feeder but just a couple birds tried it.
the 8" predicted turned into 2" - want to go x-country skiing!!! not helping

Yay! A sec more! It all helps. I, too, loved the cardinal shots. We have a female here, but haven't seen a male---several woodpeckers, lots of juncos, whitethroated sparrows, Carolina wren, house finches, chickadees, & loads of titmice---that's it so far---last year we had pine siskins, but they are irruptive, never know when or if they'll appear. The wind is really howling here, the wind chill must be in single digits---good day to knit.
20 ° Bright & windy. Now we learn how to do things. I didn't know what the keypad was.
Wow - getting very windy out there.
Bright and sunny, temp at 27º and the 10mph gusty wind is blowing some snow on occasion.
Pretty cardinal pic. All the birds are working overtime at the feeder today.
Macs have a special character menu on the edit menu. ☺
30° and not much left of the 1/2 inch we got overnight.
36° feels like 25°. Blustery winds.
Thank you WC!
You're welcome! ☺
36° and sunny. Some melting going on. Hopefully the next storm coming through stays as rain, cuz I don't want my flight cancelled on Christmas afternoon. Can hardly wait. We are going to Houston area to visit with youngest DS for a week.
Thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick, WC
Now if you can only figure out how to make them increase...
Exciting, Jan.
Heard a rumor that the day will be longer tomorrow.
I don't want them longer unless it warms up a bit first...
Think it will still be 24 hours. ^_^
No kidding?
What a relief! For a minute I thought I had to reset my clock again!
Patti - beautiful shot of the cardinal!
Bill - head on over to our farm for some good X-country paths in our woods when you get some good snow cover up there. It's a great place for that and snowshoeing. I sure do miss that! Really, feel free!! Just leave us a few stones in the walls when you leave. LOL
DonnieBrook, I wouldn't count on finding any wall left at all if Bill takes a liking to it!!! He can move a mountain of rocks before you can even wink once.
We are heading up to Vt for a few days. DH loves to snowshoe. But he really loves downhill skiing most. He finally gave up his long old skis last year and bought some new shaped ones which he surprisingly liked. I think I may try to ski again this winter after a few years off the slopes since my knee surgery. I feel like I should try again and the short ones should be a lot easier on the new replaced ACL which I first tore up skiing years ago. Get back on the horse. I think I will take a lesson or two to refresh my body as to how to ski again. My form was always bad.
Weather here is quiet, 28 degrees and clear. Wind has dropped down to 8 to 12 mph out of the west. Still gusting to the mid 20's. Icy, believe me, as when I got out of the truck this afternoon, I fell promptly on my most padded spot. I am a tad sore tonight. Maybe I should rethink rethinking skiing. Patti
24 degrees, at 5:40 AM that's kinda toasty ;)
27 now going up to 31
Clear and bright and 25 degrees out now. Winds are out of the Northwest at around 10 so a good day to fly off Island for me. Patti
25 here too. Bright and sunny for the first full day of winter.
Victor, does that mean it is almost over? Spring, We there yet??? uh, uh, now, soon, how much longer??? Patti
I wish.
