LOL that is GREAT!!!
Oh my... LK.. that's a gem!!!
So thrill to see Kim here. Yep, Trisha's right... hope one day, Susan (TurtleChi) will come out of her shell and play.
Tallulah_Susan!! Thank God you're not operating any heavy machinery at work!!! Get some sleep girl!
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Kel's brother will be in town Saturday to give us a break.
Yawning away here. Gonna check the other threads and bid you all a good night.
Darn - where are my posts???
Drat - that's right. Been interrupted twice and lost them.
Hey y'all! I'm here. Been headachy again - probably sinuses. Randall is eating a bit and backing off pain meds.
Helping DD get ready for "Cookie-Geddon." tonight we picked up 50 lbs of flour, 25 lbs of sugar, 14 lbs. brown sugar. Got to find 14 dozen eggs and 25 lbs. of butter tomorrow. we've cut down recipes this year, as so many gifting to are on diets. Still have 9 for DD and 4 for me. That reminds me, we need at least 2 bottles of rum.
Geddon starts at 8am Saturday morn and is open to all helpers, if y'all what to come! Two kitchens (darn this run down house has one nice feature), one gas range one electric range, 3 refrigerator/freezers, two sinks, 3 extra folding tables, DD is bringing her baking and mixing gear.
back home from Choir practice, and I'm going to wind down a bit, then head off to sleep. I'm sufficiently scared about the drive home this past 3 days that I KNOW I need to get some good rest. It's almost 10, so I bid you adieu!

Tante-I hope that you can feel my warm embrace enveloping both you and the tooter. I know it doesn't compare to the flesh and blood thing, but please know that it is here for you.
LK-OH my-my mouth is watering. Maybe I;ll have to come back to TX for another tat and some of those balls!!!
Aunite M-I hope we get to go to the party-I really like to get all gussied up (tee hee hee) just like a real live girl sometimes. I would be happier if I could get my hair cut and dyed, but oh well, you do what you can.
Oh, all my aunties. What am I to do with you? Such a warm wonderful bunch of ladies that is a special treat not easily duplicated. Whenever I fell down I think of our time in TX and can hear each of you in my mind still. The laughter, the stories....feel the warmth of your presence and smell the scents that uniquely define you each as the people you are. In a perfect world we would all live close enough to be able to visit frequently. But alas, we are only able to connect by the wonderful WWW on a daily basis having to store up our reserves of tactile sensations for our yearly get together. How much I wish that we could be together now to share ourselves-I miss the feeling of really being together. I am already planning for the summer when I can hold you each in the circle of my arms and feel the flesh and blood of those that truly, even when I am absent, mean the world to me.
Hi all, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Julie and I am in Ohio. I have been reading the thread and you all seem like a wonderful group of people. It's nice to see so much love on here.
Welcome Julie! what ya doing up so late? I can't sleep. drank a bunch of coffee in afternoon....again. but headed to bed now.
so pull up an pillow, get some rest, and when you're done, tell us what you like to plant and what, if anything, you like to craft. They's a scrunch of crafty types on here that put me to shame. I'm the avid iris fan of the bunch. this calls for passing the Baileys! maybe then I'll sleep.....
welcome welcome!
Hello Fairy girl !!!! how's it going for you?
ok that's it - bed for this old hide.
here's Belle de Nuit to welcome you! to warm your chilly Ohio night.
Good morning ladies
Coffe is hot along with omlets and bacon on the table please help yourselves...
Sorry I have been MIA but I have been lurking whenever I get the chance.. things around here have been pretty nuts..
I will try to catch up this evening after work if I can..
Julie welcome to the board.. It truly is a great bunch of gals here..
Huggs to you all and prayers to all in need..
Donna
Good morning everyone!
Donna, Thanks so much for the Breakfast. Nice of you to take time from your busy schedule to stop and make the coffee for us!
Julie, so nice to meet you, and welcome to the crazy world of the Daves Garden Sistah hood! Please tell us more about yourself? We are nosy, but in a good way. I am medically retired from Laughlin Air Force base, in Del Rio, Texas. I was a seamstress there, and love to sew, but my old back does not allow it too much! My favorite item in the garden seems to be Angel trumpets, but I love all flowers. Never met one yet I don't like!
Hope to hear from you soon.
Bon sorry your having those bad headaches again. Are you taking anything for your sinus'?
Stacy, nice to hear from you too! Hope you all are doing well. Sounds like your getting ready for the party. What are you going to wear?
Talk to you all later.
Linda Kay
Morning Ladies,
Welcome Julie, yep this here is a great place to be.
I have been sewing Barbie doll clothes, right now I'm working on a wedding dress. But the little bodie is giving me fits!!! Have my Christmas shopping done except for a gift card to Home Depot for SIL. My mom made fudge and persimmon cookies yesterday. She just got up said she just wants to stay in bed she's so tired, lol. But oh the house smelt so good when I came home yesterday from shopping, of course I had to steal a couple of cookies, lol. Well trying to wake up here so I can get back to sewing. DGD has a gymnastic show tonight.
Hope you all have a Good Friday and a wonderful weekend.
I'm super busy but I wanted to give you all an update on my foot:
My dr is so honest, I just love him for that. He had one foot cradled in one hand, the other cradled in the other hand. He's looking at them, comparing them, looks me dead in the eye and says, "Christine, I am so sorry, I really don't know what's wrong with your foot." I said, "I know you don't, just as long as we know it's not life threatening or foot threatening I really don't care, I just want the pain to go away." He did find a really tender pressure point so we talked it over and decided to treat it as Morton's Neuroma but I don't think he put the Cortizone shot in the right place, but then again I'm not sure it even matters. It is doing better but my toes are stiff from the shot so it's hard to tell, he said it could take up to 5 days for me to not be sore from the shot, but I seem to be afraid to put much pressure on it. He said that if it doesn't help he'll have to send me to an orthopedic specialist, of course I was teasing him about that. He is so hot it's a very good thing he's married...
After I got home I drank 3 glasses of eggnog and brandy, sat in the living room floor and wrapped presents. I have two big boxes, one going to my mom and step-dad, the other going to my dad and his girlfriend. I got online to UPS and set up shipment where they come to my house today and pick them up so I don't have to deal with carrying them.
Morning all!
Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!
My favorite flowers are daisies, daffodils, day lilies, and anything else that blooms! I also have a passion for herbs and anything green. I love taking cuttings and starting new plants. It makes the perfect way to add more plants to the garden without a lot of cost.
Been spending my days shopping on-line for Christmas presents...beats fighting the crowds...and the deals are fantastic...scored a laptop game system for my 6 year old granddaughter for only $9.00 from Kohl's.
Keeping you all in my prayers for healing and comfort. Hope your day goes well. ((((hugs))))
(Edited to add) Just wanted to add a simple Christmas cookie recipe that is sooooo easy to make for quick baking....
1 box chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
Mix together and add:
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Form into balls and roll in powdered sugar before baking.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, the cookies will flatten slightly and be browned on the bottom.
These are so chewy and good it is almost illegal!
Enjoy!

G'morning, and Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, Julie!
We're truly a wonderful mixed-bag of sistahs! You've "lucked in" to one of the best group in DG ^_^
I love Angel Trumpets, starting some Brugmansias in the house (Really Need To Plant Them! - they're sitting in water for the past 3 weeks or more!). They were sent as cuttings by another DG'er.
It's my DH and I for Christmas this year (all the rest of the family is in Winnipeg, where I originate). I've sent prezzies to them, and have made "several" gift baskets for friends.
I work as an Administrative Assistant to a Division Head of Pathology & his team. Very great work for a very great team. I get mega-challenged in this job, but being busy looks good on me LOL
I keep busy by bowling on Sundays, and choir practices on Thursdays, and church most other days. I'm not a "preachy-type" cuz I figure we each find out own way, without pushing. You'll find me a straight-forward type, who likes twisted humour, without practical joking (I dislike pranks!).
Have a Fantabulous Day!!

Oh Julie - thanks for that recipe. so simple I gotta try it this weekend! what size balls should the dough be? 1", 2", or 3"?
mmmmmmm sounds good, Jule!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
I'm suuuuuuch a cookie monster, I sent it to my home addy so I can remember it when I get home lol

Guess what!!! I have a huge announcement: It is raining again, still, errrrr whatever!!!! I seriously will getting in need of a boat other than the paddle boat if this continues LOL
Bon, glad to hear Randall is eating some--nothing worse than tooth/mouth problems.
Crissy, hope the shot helps the foot.
Susan, what can I say--just hope the problem with the jaw is taking care of soon.
Well, yesterday was "stress" day trying to recover from the day before. My son had an accident early Tuesday morning --he is okay, shaken up, bruised and oh so sore and will be fine--the truck, however, needs one huge bandaid across the front of it. Poor little truck.
Welcome Julie, nice to see you posting on the thread. I am retired/widow who enjoys just doing what pleases me now. Love sewing/quilting and needlecrafts, gardening (that a given) and just having fun.
Tink, I too wish we were all closer--that way we could really get the Disney trip in progress. I am going to hold you to that big hug come this summer. Didn't get to go to the party after all as son had the accident. Doesn't matter about the party only that he was okay and not hurt!!!!
Off to check some other threads and go check the water levels. LOL
Bon, I usually make 2" balls and that makes a great size cookie.
Hi ladies!
God is so awesome.. and good. Seeing you all here, I know He's keeping you safe from some terrible weather conditions.
Maid M., it will be a Merry Christmas this year for you. Celebrating it at home, albeit, wet and cold, is better than celebrating it at the hospital!! Thank God your son's safe!
It's raining ice cold water here... think Maid M. is diverting hers this way!
But thankful that it's not snowing--yet.
How's Raleigh Bon.. getting any snow flurries yet?
Looks like Cindy's happy busy! You're creating an heirloom Barbie wardrobe which I know your grandaughter will pass them on to the next generation.. :D
Stacey, no matter how far apart we are from each other....(I know this sounds like a Hallmark Card) the distance cannot keep our love from each other.
(Psst... just be thankful you have that distance from Kel's toots!)
And what do you mean by distinctive scent?? I bathe daily my dear, and B.O should not be an issue ;)
Awww Crissy.... tight, tight hugs here. No matter what, at least you're able to walk. I'll pray that Santa Claus grant you your Christmas wish.. make that pain go away.
Welcome Julie. I can see you're already a hit posting that e-z cookie recipe.
On account of the bad weather Charlotte's having, BIL will not relieve us this weekend. Too dangerous for them to be on the road.
Hehehehee... I ran back to the house to pick up my addy list so I could address the rest of the Christmas cards. Said I'll be gone for just 10 minutes.. :D Sigh.. it has been an hour!!
If I don't get back tonight, stay warm sistahs. If any need of stronger sweet spirits to keep warm, LK got the Kahlua!
Oh yeah.. I was hoping this site here is audio-formatted. I'd be calling on Tallulah_Susan to sing us a few Christmas carols....
OH no Jaye, I would never, ever send you this cold hard rain! Not me! LOL Seriously, be careful if it is as hard and wet there, and I am sure it must be, as it is here. Not even decent weather for ducks. Speaking of which, I have started checking to see if I am growing webs between my toes! LOL
Yes, Christmas will be at home will all safe, thank God!!!! Good news received that the frame wasn't damaged with the hit but the poor tire can't recover from it's 1+" of metal pushed into it--replaceable and so much easier than replacing a son---impossible for that!!!
Sending hugs and prayers for you, Kel and Murdock--stay safe, warm and dry.
ok everyone - audio alert - I will not be singing online here, or on YouTube - lucky you, eh?
Seriously, don't know why Jaye's mentioning it - I'd just gotten home from a loooooooong trip, through a blizzard, with Bob and my voice, and I, was tired. Jaye asked me to sing (bad move, girl! even worse move is that I attempted to. weak, little voice is what I had that night, and she thought you should be subjected to That?!?!?! silly girl...).
No, this is not fishing for compliments. Other than singing for the congregation which I'm now used to, I freeze up when someone asks me to sing otherwise.
Someone from bowling wanted me to sing him something - in the midst of 70 people milling around? I Think Not! I actually sang him one high, albeit quiet, note and that, as they say, was That lol No one else noticed (I said it was one note, and quiet - I didn't hold it lol)

Started the day out with a street full of Police cars! The people in one of the units across the street is having problems with their daughter....all kinds of people in and out, they think she has been stealing from them....being the nosy type, I would love to know the whole story...this is the place where the guy who knocked over the mail boxes lives. The Police were over there for almost three hours!
Julie welcome! What a wonderful cookie recipe. My mother had to have it right away, and I am sure daughter and granddaughter will want it also!
Have to run, a lot to get done today.
Sorry, I am in such rush, Marion so glad to hear your son was not injured. There are so many unsafe drivers on the road these days.
Stay warm and dry and don't float away on us!
Jaye and Kel sending you lots of hugs and prayers...tell Murdock he is in our thoughts and prayers daily.
Hello everyone. Welcome Julie i lurk a lot.
Jaye so sorry prayers you both get rest to.. hug for you.. well kel to if not being forward. nevere had hugs for yrs. yrs yrs. i think families should but.. mine never did growing up or later. Prayers for you to be afe in the storm you are going to have. Prayers for your fil.. all 3 of you..
everyone have great week end.
I got the h1n1 ( hope thats right)shot at dr's. assistance my arm now 7 hours later is hurting awful.. same arm where shoulder hurts most of time.. great..my bp little high, sugare little high. but I'm fine.
I feel your pain, I had a cortisone shot yesterday afternoon right in the top of my foot! The actual shot wasn't so bad but it's the after-the-fact that's the killer.
Afternoon all. Yep Jaye, I have the kahlua, and will share with anyone that hold out the glass! Or coffee cup!
MArion, glad to hear all is well with your son, bruises will mend, and cars can be repaired, but we can't replace a life. Please take care in al your wet weather.
Trisha, waving saying hello to you and Laura. Sad to see all the trouble the young ones get into these days. Hope they can get her straightened out!
Hello Twyla, sorry to hear your arm is hrting, but I think that is normal for the flu shots. Hopefully tomorrow it will be better.
Well, I am off for dinner with hubby.
Have a good night everyone, and a great week-end!
Marion my goodness!! I'm so glad your son is ok!!
LK I don't really know the people...but after he said they thought the daughter and her friends were stealing from them it made me wonder if they are the ones who have been prowling cars in our neighborhood recently??
Laura is doing fairly well, having some allergy and sleep issues...if she could just quit smoking I think a lot of those issues would clear up too. But they tried to tell me that for almost 30 years before I finally managed to quit so there is still hope.
Guess mom and I are very lucky...we both got H1N1 shots on Tuesday and have not had any pain or soreness at all...the shot didn't even hurt and I HATE shots of any kind!
Made Browned Butter Rice Krispy treats this morning (Yummy) and I think we are going to try the Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies later, they sound soooo good!
Linda Kay, Hello, I haven't been on much and haven't really had much to say when I have been on, but I am around.
Mom, I had allergies and sleep issues before I started smoking; so while it is likely making my issues worse, it didn't cause them.
Pfffffttttttt......
Goodnight everyone!
I seem to stay up much later than y'all, but that's ok. I will just pop in when ever. Maybe I should try a shot of the Kahlula Linda is offering to help me sleep. Sorry to hear everyone is having such horrible weather. So far, we have been lucky with only the cold temperatures.
I hope your arm starts feeling better Twyla...I HATE shots and doctors in general. And as for you, Crissy, I think I would have passed out if I had to get one in the top of my foot. Uck...I could not imagine....you are a trooper!
It is sad so many accidents are happening around the holidays. I have been following the reports about Dusty's son on another thread and now see Marion's son was in an accident too....I am praying for healing for both of them.
Well, goodnight all...
Julie,Mom and I made the cake mix cookies today and they are great. Mom gave some to her neighbor and they said they are the best chocolate cookies they have had!
Have a good night everyone.
That should be an inexpensive fix, Maid M, if the frame's not damaged.
I bet your DGDs now will be telling their version of daddy's little accident to anyone willing to listen.. :D
Twyla, I'm lucky that I don't have any allergic reaction to the shots. Poor you... take a swig of LK's Kahlua if it still bothers you tomorrow!
Need to get that bp down and you know to stay away from those candies!
This county of 16,000....boasts the largest group of Medicaid recipients :(. Also this county has more high strength pain killers prescribed than any other counties in NC. Already beseiged with high unemployment, with the recession making it worse, we're seeing an increase in crimes here.
Then adjacent to our property, are woods, leased to hunters. They use high powered rifles and sometimes the shots are too close to home.
Trisha, I'll soon be learning how to use a firearm :(
No, you're not being nosey.. just careful.
Hi Laura! Nice to see you!
LK, I'll try to do breakfast tomorrow, since we don't have to be up for 6.
Sistah Judy, it was good talking to you!! Hope you get to finish your Christmas gifts in time!
Wow.. we have Cookie from Franklin, Ohio.. Donna (Lancaster) and Synda (Corrolton) too. So Julie, how far are you from these ladies?
Well, I better get some sleep if I were to fix breakfast for you all pretty ladies in the morning!
Good night and God bless everyone...
*not so tiny Jaye*
Jaye,Julie and I have been friends for many many MANY years........we have lived together, played together....and you can only imagine...LOL.She lives in the same county, just about 10 minutes on back roads away from me.
How is Dock doing? And you and Kel???????
I am feeling oh so very festive tonight and truthfully for the past few days.......my cheeks are red with fever and my stomach is making feel quite green all over...LOL.My lips even hurt.....Praying no one else has caught the Holiday Bug !!!
Love,Hugs and Kisses ~~~~~~~~~~
Goodness Synda!! Is it a touch of 'Greenititis'? From eating too much green ham and eggs???
Hope today you'll be back to feeling normal again.
How nice.... so you grew up with Julie? I notice too that you both join DG on the same date! Was that planned?
Murdock's physical strength is taking a toll from his chemos. Kel and I are doing the best to help him and MIL. Thanks for asking, Synda.
Yep, got up early just to fix you all an exceptional breakfast.
It's Scotch Eggs with Dijon Sauce. These require extra time. All worth it.
I've included the recipe, and for you ladies that still prefer a country breakfast, there are rashes of bacon, scrambled eggs and of course, biscuits.
Scotch Eggs.
Ingredients:
1 pound bulk pork sausage
6 hard cooked eggs
1 cup fine dry bread crumbs, purchased or home made, plain or seasoned
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
Sauce:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
1 to 1 1/4 cups half-and-half
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Preparation:
On a sheet of waxed paper, divide sausage into 6 equal portions; wrap 1 portion around each egg. Roll each wrapped egg in bread crumbs. Beat egg with mustard and water; dip sausage-wrapped eggs in beaten egg mixture. Roll in bread crumbs again; place on a rack in a shallow baking dish. Bake at 400 degrees for about 35 minutes or until browned, turning once during baking. Cut into halves lengthwise; serve hot with Dijon sauce or sauce of your choice.
Serves 6.
Dijon Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour; cook for about 1 minute, whisking constantly, until smooth and bubbling. Add seasonings, then add 1 cup of half-and-half a little at a time. Continue whisking until thickened; add more half-and-half until desired consistency is reached.
Coffee's ready too.
Kel's up! The aroma of bacon woke him up!!
You ladies, have a beautiful Saturday. Don't risk getting hurt if the weather's not conducive for travelling!
Stay warm.
Good morning! Looks like everyone is up late, or really early! Thanks for the breakfast and the recipe. Sounds interesting. Hubby may even like that one!
I have been awake for about 30 minutes, and just decided to get up, and saty up. We are going to try to hit the stores early to avoid any madhouse, for our last minute shopping for the grandkids. Hope it is not too busy!
So Synda brought you over here? Glad she did, and were glad to have you. Anyone is welcome, so if you have more friends bring them too!
Synda hope your not feeling too green this morning?
Cindy, bet you can't wait to get all those tiny clothes sewn. That must be tedius work to sew barbie clothes, but will be soooo worth it when you see her face on Christmas morning!
Crissy, how is the foot feeling today? Hope it is better. Sometime I can feel relief from those shots right away, and sometimes It takes time, Sometimes they don't do much at all. I do hope they work for you.
Well, it has taken me about 5 minutes to go back and correct my spelling, so back to the coffee pot for more energy. I will post more when I am awake!
Later
Welcome, Julie, nice to see another Buckeye here! We won't be taking any excuses from the two of you about not being able to make it to the sistahs reunion at my house this summer! You will never meet a nicer group of people.
I'd love to see you posting on the ORVG thread too...come on over and chat!
Had a ton of fun at the cookie swap yesterday. Bertie got called away shortly after we got there cause her hubby said Maggie was missing. She asked him if he looked in the bedroom and he said yes. So she went home and looked outside calling and calling and finally went inside to check one more time and there she was in the bedroom. She had gone in to get her clothes out of there and then shut the door when she left and Mags was inside. When Herb looked in she was sleeping on her little bed and he thought since she wasn't waiting for him at the door that she wasn't in there....Bertie WAS NOT a happy camper! We got a nice variety of cookies, about four of each kind. Add that to the monster pile that I've already made and I'm about OD'd on sugar. Looks like I'll have the usual New Year's resolution!!!
One of the ladies made cookies with part of that recipe, Julie. She said you could use any cake mix, add two eggs and 1/2 cup oil and you have cookies! I thought spice ones would be wonderful. She used a yellow cake and iced them and they were like a buttery sugar cookie.
Jaye, those eggs sound amazing....I'm off to the kitchen to get something for this growling tummy!
Well, my computer is acting a little better this morning. I think it has a mind of its own. Running so slow, even slower that dial up, so you know how how frustrating that can be. I like to play pogo games too, but now they said Java isn't working. I updated the newest Java version and now pogo said it is working but still get the message. I un-installed Java then installed it again about 4 times, it is a wonder I haven't complete messed up this machine.
Welcome Julie, will have to go back and read more of this thread, but hubby waiting for breakfast. He just doesn't realize DG and all my wonderful friends come first. LOL. Just kidding.
