Bon I'm glad he's feeling better too. I'm wiped out tonight, trying to catch up! LOL

The shorter days do tend to make us a little depressed, that's a fact! The cold that comes with the shorter days doesn't help either. No wonder we're all getting crafty indoors!

Well here's what's going on with my foot:
I got my blood results back via mail, my uric acid is fine and they marked that there will be no further treatment, I beg to differ! The steroids, prednisone, aren't doing a lot that I can tell, except they have gotten rid of that sudden throbbing pain that shoots through my foot now and again, and I'm starting to have hot/cold flashes and mood swings. Just one pill tonight at bedtime, then two tomorrow, and one the day after and I'm done. I'm going to call the dr in the morning and see what else he wants to do, maybe an MRI would be a great idea??? I know he wrote in my chart that I was to get a phone call when the blood results came back for a follow up to decide what to do next, that obviously didn't happen. I don't know whats wrong with it, but I do know I'm not in menopausal yet! LOL!!

Synda I'm so sorry to hear about your mom hun, but it's great to see you back! We have missed you, that's for sure, and seeing you on the Facebook games just isn't enough.

Stacey you whip those gals into shape! Maybe after the holidays they'll keep you permanently.

LK - it's bar chocolate, the best kind you can get in a bulk spice store. There is a place I used to go to, in Winnipeg, that sold only the best spices, soup powders, etc, and also had the really good chocolate. I never used powdered chocolate.

Icing sugar is the kind you use to make icing for cakes - guess powdered sugar is the same thing. It's definitely not granular. Maybe you also know it as Caster Sugar.

btw - heard from my Dentist, and it looks like he wants to go ahead with my jaw work. FINALLY! My jaw feels like it's tightening up, and I could sure use less headaches.........

Heading off the puter for now. Cya tomorrow.......

Take care, and God Bless.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Coffee is on!

Hey Susan, I have never heard of caster sugar either. We don't have a bulk store like your talking about, so maybe when I go to San Antonio, I can look.
Glad to hear your going to have your jaw worked on.
Trisha you up late!

Off to check on the other theads.

Morning All,
Just checking to see how everyone is doing.
Ladies why not post your recipes here? Then you can also check out some from last year. Need to take all of these and make a SI cookbook for all of us here.

Still sewing and making candles. Going shopping sometime this week. Only have a few things to buy as money is really tight. My car registration went up $70.00 and is due 1/2/10 so that is taking a hunk of my christmas money :(

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Morning everyone! My foot is killing me today, it's moved again to the big joint at the base of my big toe, and it's making my toenail hurt. The toe next to the big toe still hurts some too, pretty much that whole side of my foot. :( Going to see what we can do about this today.

Ug Cindy, car registration sucks. Mine is due in February or March.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Afternoon all. Nothing big planned today-it's my day off. Need to get a few things at the grocery store and return some library books. Have to wrap the stuff I made for my mom and a couple other things, and then either will read write or craft. Or maybe all 3-haven't decided yet...

DH had a bunch of guys over to play poker last night and we all had a ton of fun. He has been doing that most Monday nights and I really like all the guys that come over. He almost won-we sure coulda used the $80, but he got 2nd place, so he got his buy in back-so he played for free-guess that's better than loosing any $$. The one guy is having a huge New Years Party that will be black tie. Chris is trying to get that night off so we can go. We haven't spent a New Year's together in about 6 years. He always has to work and doesn't get home til like 2am...I had mom hem the shoulders on my dress-it gaped in the front when I sat down. And Chris will get to wear his suit which he looks really good in. I hope some more of his hair grows back by then-he took a trimmer to it and gave himself a military style cut that in my opinion doesn't suit him AT ALL. It would be nice to have good pics for that night....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Tink, that sounds like you had a lot of fun and New Year's Eve---wow!! I guess Kim and I will have a "date" LOL watching the fireworks over the lake. Not complaining as I doubt I can even stay awake until midnight. We are still having rains and everything is green, slimy and just down right unpleasant.

Crissy sorry to hear about your foot. Makes it rough. My knees are bothering me but it is all the dampness we have at the moment.

Need to get back to moving furniture around so I can put the tree in it home for the next couple of weeks or so.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Stacey. So glad to see you back here with us! Sounds like you are all having fun, and getting ready for the holidays. Hope his hair grows out too. Maybe take a picture of him, and let him see it for himself. Sometimes we really don't know what we look like till we see a picture of ourselves?
Crissy, sorry to hear your foot is still in a lot of pain! Geesh, hope they get something diagnosed soon and properly treated.
Hey Marion. How are you doing? Did you get all those shelves and things put together?
Wow, New Years is right around the corner. Todd and I will be married 11 years then. Doesn't seem like it! Guess time flies when your having fun?
Jaye where are you at today? Probably at the in laws. I do hope they are doing OK.
Cindy, Always seems like everything is due all at once. Maybe you can make and sell more candles before then?
Bon, praying the Randall is doing better today. How long before he gets to go back to the dentist?

Where is everyone going for Christmas. Staying home, or traveling?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

This household will be staying home for Christmas then later down to south Florida to see my Mom. Nope still have more cabinets to assemble but can't do them now until some more work it down on the wall where they go. Wish I could just leave things like they were but NO!!! I am always decided to remodel something. Slow lately with my hand back in the brace for a while. Now let me see, I had surgery twice so what would happen with the hand? LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello ladies.
Been coming home elevenish... FIL struggling with bedtime.

I'm home for a few minutes... long enough to feed the poor abandoned babies, do a quick bath, then off for a Christmas dinner with the adult bible group. Dinner's in a local restaurant, so won't be too far from PILs.
Doing a Bon here, no time to read over, but will catch up if I'm not too tired tonight.

I'm so lucky to have sistahs like you. Even though you don't see me posting, I know I'll never be abandoned....

Carrying your love in my heart.

Talk to you all later... sistah Judy, if you're lurking... I LOVE you too!

Raleigh, NC

sorry I didn't check in earlier. LOL got sidetracked copying all those recipes!

The dentist could not save his tooth, but was able to extract it. Hygenist says they got all the infected tissue. Still on antibiotics and pain meds, Aleve and Motrin as needed. He's technically back at work, but it's not going well downstairs. He needed heavy pain meds around 11:30. He's really working to take his mind off his mouth. Thank y'all so much for your prayers. It's been scary. Feel so darn helpless.

Since he couldn't talk, he had me call his dad for their monday night football bet. So have more news on FIL Don's "tumor/cyst". It's an abnormal lymph node near his aorta and stomach (?) that has seriously overgrown. They have decided not to have the biopsy prior to Christmas. Docs don't agree on anything at this point. He's 82.

Have to respect their decision to have a doctor-free holiday. Just wish they'd come here. They have refused, as travel is tougher now than when they were younger. It's just that our VA hospital sits beside Duke Medical Center and shares doctors with it. So top notch medicine.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Jaye praying for you and Kel. blessings..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, always here for you both--don't you forget that.

Okay peoples, I am tired of rain--anyone want me to send it your way? We did have about a 3 hour break but then just before dark it started yet again. Well, atleast I am able to make needed progress in the house sorting out and throwing out still!!!

Take care all. Bon glad to hear the tooth was extracted, once the pain subsides I think things will improve quickly.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - you're always in my thoughts.....
Bon - glad to hear that nasty tooth's out, and that there's top notch for your FIL
Like you, Bon, I lurk more than post, but have to say Something lol
Marion - send us some warm rain that will melt the snow and not freeze........ actually, it will be warm enough it won't freeze, but we have TOO much Snow!!

My dear sistahs - it looks like I'll have my jaw surgery, but who knows when......... at least it won't be by the end of Jan, cuz that's when I have my app't with my dentist. At least my dentist is conferring with a Neurologist about it, and not my silly Dr who I have little/no respect for. I suppose now that he's been chastened, that he won't give me any trouble, but I just never know with him.

Cya soon!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi!!

Marion you have been getting a lot of rain, I guess Arkansas is still 200% above normal, so join the rain party! I'll do a one footed go away rain dance!

Stacey I hope his hair grows back too, men are so funny!! That would be great if you could go to the New Years party, you will have a blast!

So today was the worst day for my foot thus far. It's come down to either I go get that shot or he'll refer me to a foot specialist. I don't know what to do. He still hasn't told me how to control it myself and I don't know what can be mixed with Prednisone and what can't so I haven't been taking anything, until today, I got mad, said forget it I'll treat it myself, and took two Ibuprofen at 5pm and it's feeling a little better. I don't want that shot!! LOL

What would you all do, go get the shot (the needle will be inserted between my big toe and the toe beside it and pushed all the way up to the center of my foot where the joint is) or go to the specialist?

I'm going to head for bed so I can put it up and get some ice on it. See ya'll tomorrow!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good night everyone!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Waving to all,

crissy sorry about your foot, I hate needles. Mother got her flu shot today and insisted I get one too...just like when I was little they had to call mom out of class to come make me take my shots.

Stacey Bill shaved his head once because all the cool bike racers were doing it...I hated it!

Marion I know I said I would take the rain over the cold...now that we have LOTS of rain back....let me think about that....

Jaye take care of your self.....hugs to all of you, give Murdock our love and best wishes.

Pizza is done need to go grab a bite to eat.

Have a good night everyone.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What do I think? I would avoid shots if I could. What you described, sounds painful to me. So, Crissy, get another opinion, especially from a specialist.

Stacey, spend as much time as you can with your Mum. I've always regret not being able to do so.

Bon, Randall will soon be back to normal. All that pain will be a nasty memory.
But I'm sure, his attention will waver onto his dad until the biopsy's performed.
Prayers going out to his dad hun.

Susan, I'm glad the dentist recommend jaw reconstruction. You can't prolong that abnormal tightening of the jaw... what was your doctor thinking!!

Funny Trisha!! Having this scene of your Mum arm twisting you to get your shots!!!

Got back a couple of hours ago. Had to unwind before bed.
Don't know where to start....
and don't want to depress anyone... so, I'll do this before bidding goodnight.

We had a fantastic celebration and didn't realise the 1 hour extended further, as the Christmas game where we could 'steal' another's gift turned 50 adults into gleeful children.
Kel was the star of the party. First gift he unwrapped was a pair of pink socks!! Poor guy tried to have another 'steal' from him, until he had to add a $ to the socks!! Preacher felt sorry (think he's after the $, only contribution btw) and took them away. So happily, off Kel went to get another gift.

He~~ unwrapped~~ a box of Maybelline eye shadow!!!!!!!

Can you hear the laughter?

I was so happy for this man who deserved this good time he got tonight. But as soon as we stepped out of the restaurant... cell phone rang.
FIL had another 'episode'. Back to reality.

Thank you LK, for holding the fort :D Love you dearie.

Maid M., Kel knows the extend of your affections for him. He says, too bad he doesn't have JD's looks, if not you'll have his face on 'that' pillow!! That rascal!!

Thanks Twyla for your sincere words. You too Trisha and Susan.

Judy, I'm sorry I missed your calls. Giant armwraps sistah!

Another OOT trip for us tomorrow morning, and most of the day at PILs.
Will try to drop in when I can.

Love y'all!

Thinking of you this morning Jaye with prayers and warm hugs. I don't post often but I am always praying for all on this thread. Hope today is better for you...

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Praying for you that need it (and those of you who don't think you do, too)!

Been baking like crazy, cause that's about all the gifts I'm going to be able to give this year.

I've had some candy sales, so the grandkids will all get something small. They're the only ones who will care.

I wish we all lived closer so we could all get together at this sacred time of year to share hugs and laughter. Just glad we have each other here to do so!

Love you all!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I have to make ginger snaps tonight, foot and all!

My dr wants to talk to me about what's going on and the next recourse to get rid of this pain, so I made an appt with him tomorrow at 3:20pm. He's a great dr and has never been wrong yet and Dave thinks that a specialist is going to want to do the same shot anyway and charge triple. It's moved to the outside of my big toe, so that not only cancels out getting a shot in the nerve but also maybe I can con him out of some Celebrex, I need some for my wrist anyway. I have one more Prednisone to take and I'm thinking about just skipping it, it's not doing anything anyway and I've got to stop eating. LOL

Jaye that's too funny! Prayers are going out to your family hun.

Susan bless you girl for getting that jaw reconstructed, and bless you for making my shot not sound near as bad! Prayers going out to you also.

Prayers are going out to everyone who needs them, love ya'll!

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Praying for everyone in this happily stressful season........maybe a new year will bring new hope.

Afternoon everyone. I have made some peanut butter balls, and have them in the freezer. Tomorrow I can melt the chocolate, and dip them, then freeze again. I keep them frozen, till we want them to munch on! Some will have nuts, some will have coconut.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - your shot is **tremble** bad enuff, girl!! I don't like needles............

Jaye - wanna hear sumpin funny? To match your Kel's present - Bob went to his bowling league Christmas Party last night, and everyone that brought a gift got a ticket. When your # was called, you picked one up from the table. Bob didn't unwrap his, and didn't want it under the tree, so I unwrapped it............... a manicure/pedicure set with Such Pretty Colours of polish LOL He said it should have had a "female" tag on it! And I don't do the "nail thing". I'm happy if they don't break.........and No One gets to see my feet lol

I don't know What they'll want to do to my jaw. All I know is that my Dr's office was giving my dentist the "run around" and asking him to send in a formal faxed request for his opinion on me. I told my dentist that my Dr isn't even a neurologist and I don't have one in the city. I told my dentist my history (very little, actually) and he's going to phone a neurologist friend of his in LA, and my boss (who wrote a review paper on the meds I'm on) and ask their opinions.
My dentist says not to worry about it, that he feels it WILL be done, just a matter of confering with specialists. He's not asking for me to have a neurological exam.

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I had trouble with my jaw a number of years ago and the dentist I went to asked if I woke up with headaches, yep sure did, and he made me a mouth guard to wear every night. He molded the "stuff" to my teeth and then when I got it I was so good at wearing it every night. The headaches went away and my jaw felt so much better. I think at that time I paid $200 for it which I complained about but it really worked. I always complain about spending money. LOL

I now have a bladder infection, first one I ever had, so on Cipro for 5 days. Have to see a gastrology doctor on the 24th. Can you imagine having doctor's appointment on Christmas Eve! Well, I could have waited, but might as well get it over with. Between DH and myself we should move into the clinic.

I have a great-grandaughter, born Nov. 25th, and got the cutest picture of her being held by her 'big brother' who is only14 months old. Mommy is going to be a very busy girl.

Well, beautiful day here. My sweet peas are really growing since the nice couple of days rain we had. I had to go out and put up some more twine for them to climb on. They were starting to lay on the ground, I have an iron gate for them to climb but the little tendrils won't grasp on it so put up some more twine and think I may have to put up more later. Looking forward to some pretty spring flowers.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, I bet the sweet peas will be so pretty in the spring? Your weather won't freeze them?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Freeze? Los Angeles, Freeze? LOL Just teasing you LK! I guess there's a reason why CA is full of people, huh?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Never been to California, so I don't know the weather there. Glad to hear someone can grow things year round!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I was told to plant sweet peas on Sept 15th, thought that was so odd at first, but they seem to be doing well. We've had some really cold nights and they seem to be enjoying it. When we lived in Minnesota my mom used to plant them on Good Friday. I guess they just stand out summer heat with no rain. I hope I get some pretty ones, would love to have a nice picture of them. Tatters55, you would love the weather today. The sun shinning so brightly, could see the snow covered mountains from my kitchen window. It isn't too often I can see the mountains, but we have had some clean days lately. We do get some very cold nights and to us that is freezing. A lot of very cold places in California, and I'm so glad I don't live in any of them.

Spent so much time trying to get Java to work in the pogo games. I un-installed it then inslalled it again at least 4 times. I was gettiing so frustrated, and I know it was working. Even pogo said it was working but when I tried to get in one of the game rooms a sign popped up saying it wasn't working. Now, all of a sudden I could get in a room. I'll never figure out this computer in my lifetime. At least I could get into DG and facebook.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's now 1:53, and I'm up.........
Went to bed at 8:50 cuz I was so tired....... and headachey. The last few nights, driving home in the dark, I was feeling so drowsy and not really awake. It was scary, so I figured I needed some sleep. My DH was at the senior's lodge, playing pool with one of the residents, so I took the opportunity and went to bed early. I didn't hear him come home (I was out like the perverbial light), but I heard him come to bed. I couldn't stir myself enuff to clearly say "good night" but it's almost an hour later and now I can't get back to sleep lol Go figure, eh?

Jaye & Kel - you wonderful blessed children of God - I love you both! I think of you often, and pray for you and Murdock.

(((((((Crissy))))) Are you taking your ColdFX? (you, too, Jaye?) One, every day ^_^ Do I have to pull my "Momma" face on you both? LOL

Everyone - if I know you and you need 'em, Gentle Hugs. If I don't know you (and I should, of course LOL) Gentle Hugs, cuz we ALL need Those ^_^

Bless all of you, wonderful sistahs. I wish the best for you, this blessed season, of joy, peace, love and happiness for you and yours.

REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the
spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.

We should've known......

ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahahahaha that's sooooooooooo true!!
